Jeep Slams Into Home

Earlier this evening a Jeep drove right into this home on Middle Neck Road, (sp?). It's been reported that one person was injured that we are aware of. And the MSM complained about Toyota...

Another Beverly Hills Giveaway

"Singer fire equipment bought a 1988 Pierce engine from Salisbury this year for just a few thousand. They dropped a create motor in it for around $3500 and its running around as a spare/loner. Salisbury let it sit for months and never looked into a motor when it blew. Gordy said it was not worth it and called it a blessing. This allowed him to buy a new one as he said. The council never knew what hit them."

Most Everyone Lied Yesterday In Our Survey Question

While the majority of you stated there's no darned way you'd dump $5,000.00 into a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria with 150,000+ miles on it. Yet, YOU ARE. YOU are in fact dumping some $5,000.00 into this engine, it's YOUR car and while I agree, the decisions is flat out stupid, the leaders of the City of Salisbury couldn't care less what YOU think.

The vehicle is sitting in the Shop right now and you just blew five grand. Now, for me personally, I would have searched the Internet for a vehicle similar to this one, (since they're a dime a dozen) with very low miles on it and I would have made the exchange.

The way the Fire Department thinks, why not dump five grand into it and then surplus it at the end of the year. This is the same group that spent $14,000,000.00 on a new Fire Station and no one ever questioned who was pocketing what! There's not even been an investigation to prove the deal was shady.

However, things seem to come in $5,000.00 cycles. They sold a $50,000.00 Ladder Truck for $5,000.00, (or so). Since that was FREE money, why not dump it into a piece of crap Crown Vic that's been torn apart inside and out. The paint is peeling off this vehicle. The tires are worn out. I hear this vehicle is just a piece of junk, yet YOU just spent $5,000.00 to put a new motor into it.

Enjoy your ride Taxpayers!

Salisbury's American Legion Baseball Needs Coaches – Now!

Salisbury American Legion Post 64 baseball is in great need of experienced coaches for the 2010 season.

38 games are scheduled, half against Legion teams from the Eastern Shore, the other half against East Coast Legion teams from Maryland to Upstate New York and beyond.

Our Blue Sox team has a long tradition of outstanding ball playing, with a record of 304-98, bringing home no fewer than eight Eastern Shore District titles in its last twelve seasons. Since 1998, every one of the 114 Blue Sox team players has entered college, over half of those played NCAA level ball, and three went on to play professionally.

Nationally, there are about 5000 American Legion teams in all 50 states. Begun in 1925, American Legion Baseball found sponsorship by Major League Baseball in 1928, and has kept that sponsorship ever since. 75% of all MLB players played on a Legion team as a teenager. Over 50 of those players are now in the Baseball Hall of Fame. More about the league and the team HERE (http://www.post64baseball.org/).

Players of ages 15 to 19, born in 1992 or later are eligible for the 2010 season. They must be students of Parkside, Bennett, Wicomico or Stephen Decatur high schools or a private school in Wicomico County. Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd, at a location to soon be announced.

Players, former players and parents of players know just how important having a great coach is to developing a player's potential, a team's spirit and taking them to play a winning season.
If you think you have what it takes, give Salisbury Legion Post 64 team manager Gordy Kissner a call at 443-735-3329, or email at ggkissner@verizon.net.

Old Crown Victoria

Let me ask you Folks a question. If you had a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria with 150,000+ miles on it, would you spend $5,000.00 to replace the engine in it?

Think about that question very carefully. There's no trick to it, I just want your honest opinion and I'm looking for as many responses today as I can possibly get. I know its Saturday afternoon but we're going to run with this question anyway.

The vehicle's Blue Book value is less than $650.00! So, you tell me. Would you put a brand new/rebuilt $5,000.00 motor in it?

This from Kelley Blue Book:

Condition Value

Excellent
$1,250

Good
$1,000

Fair
$650

The vehicle I'm speaking of would be less than "Fair Value". I'd personally rate in more toward "Poor Value" but Kelley Blue Book won't even give a price for a vehicle that age with those kind of miles on it in Poor Condition.

MORE HIGH TECH JOBS TO MOVE OUT OF MARYLAND

Remember this business while traveling to Frederick, Maryland?

This morning I read that Governor O'Malley applauded SB-106 - Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit legislation. And I'm not going to knock him nor the administration for attempting to make a dent into our anti-business State - Maryland. But by the same token I cannot let the loss of another Maryland hi-tech firm go unnoticed. You see BP Solar has been around since the early 1970s - (previously trading as Solarex).

They recently announced where they were closing their Frederick, Maryland manufacturing plant and would be shipping their manufacturing jobs elsewhere because of high operational costs - (Click here for the details).

Folks, this is not good and just goes to show that the above legislation may be to little and to late to thwart the exodus of another high tech business.

Larry Sabato Bets on Our Campaign; While We Reach "Young Gun" Status

Nationally respected political scientist Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball has just ranked Maryland's First District U.S. House race as "leans Republican" for the first time this year. This is more evidence that our hard work is paying off and the Andy Harris for Congress campaign continues to gain significant momentum.

Additionally the National Republican Congressional Committee recently promoted me to the highest level in their "Young Guns" program. Read it here.

This is certainly more good news but also a warning: we cannot become complacent. While polls and national pundits continue to rank our race as a bellwether for voters' frustration with the current Congress, we must maintain our outreach to every voter in the District. This race is too important to Marylanders and the whole country for us to take anything for granted.
Nancy Pelosi has already started pouring her money and liberal special interest money into the District. We have to keep working hard and informing voters that I will bring fiscal responsibility, a dedication to strengthening our national security and the experience and knowledge of a doctor to the health care debate that the citizens of the District want in their member of Congress. I'll always put the citizens of the District first, not be led by party leaders or swayed by lobbyists with money.

Thank you for all of your efforts in this race. You continue to be the most important part of the success and momentum we are building.

Gibbs: Obama To Soon Announce 'Path Forward' For Health Reform

President Barack Obama next week will announce the “path forward” for healthcare reform, his spokesman said Friday.

Gibbs refused to speculate on the substance of Obama's announcement except to say he expected it to come around the middle part of the week.

Gibbs on Friday followed the president and other Democrats in rejecting Republican calls to scrap the legislation and start over, pointing to insurance companies that are raising their rates while the debate continues.

“I think the American people aren't always all that interested in procedures inside the Senate,” Obama said in comments at the nationally televised summit with Democratic and GOP congressional leaders. “I do think that they want a vote on how we’re going to move this vote. And I think most Americans think a majority vote makes sense.”

In the end, Obama maintained, he and Democrats would act and leave it to voters to decide whether they had acted wisely. “That’s what elections are for,” he said.

Bluest States Spilling The Most Red Ink

Want to know which states are in the worst financial condition? One telling indicator that might not immediately come to mind is whether most of its citizens identify themselves as Democrats.

The five states in the worst financial condition--Illinois, New York, Connecticut, California and New Jersey--are all among the bluest of blue states. The five most fiscally fit states are more of a mix. Three--Utah, Nebraska and Texas--boast Republican majorities and two--New Hampshire and Virginia--skew Democratic.

Of the 10 states in the worst financial condition, eight are among a total of 23 defined by Gallup as "solidly Democratic," meaning the Democrats enjoy an advantage of 10 percentage points or greater in party affiliation. These states include the ones listed above as making up the bottom five, plus Massachusetts, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Why do Democratic states appear to be struggling more than Republican ones? It comes down to stronger unions and a larger appetite for public programs, according to Kent Redfield, professor emeritus of political studies and public affairs at the University of Illinois' Center for State Policy and Leadership.

Doctors Threaten Medicare Backlash

With a 21% cut to Medicare reimbursement rates set to take effect Monday, the nation's largest physician organization has informed its members about their options -- which include shutting off practices to new Medicare patients.

"To our physicians, we are providing information on their Medicare participation options, including how to remove themselves from the Medicare program," said James Rohack, president of the American Medical Association, whose more than 250,000 members include doctors, medical students and faculty members.

Some 43 million Americans receive Medicare coverage. For doctors who accept Medicare, federal law requires that reimbursement rates be adjusted annually based on formula tied to the health of the economy.

That law says rates should be cut every year to keep Medicare financially sound. But Congress has blocked those cuts from happening in seven of the last eight years and could still do so this year.

Those temporary fixes aren't good enough anymore, warned Rohack.

He said the AMA wants the current law to be repealed and a new formula used "that more accurately reflects the cost of providing care" in determining Medicare reimbursement rates.

In the meantime, physicians are asking the AMA to prepare handouts they can give patients to prepare them for the worst-case scenario: getting dropped completely. And a new report on the AMA's Web site tells doctors how they can help their patients find other doctors if they decide to no longer accept Medicare.

"All this is a result of physicians becoming very frustrated with the situation," said Rohack. "It's regrettable, but it reflects the current political environment. Congress need a crisis before it acts."

Same Sex Marriage

Gansler weighs in on same-sex marriage recognition in Md.

by Steve Lash

ANNAPOLIS
– In a victory for gay rights advocates, Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler issued an opinion Wednesday endorsing the view that the Court of Appeals would — and the state should — recognize as married same-sex Maryland couples who are legally wed in other states.

The immediate effect of Gansler’s opinion is to put state agencies on notice that they should extend to these same-sex couples all the rights and benefits afforded to married heterosexual couples in the state, Gansler said after issuing his opinion. For example, the legally wed partner of a state employee should be entitled to the same pension benefits as any other spouse.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley issued a call to state agencies in light of the opinion.

“I am confident that the attorney general and his office will provide all necessary advice to state agencies on how to comply with the law and I expect all state agencies to work with the attorney general’s office to ensure compliance with the law,” O’Malley said in a statement.

Gansler’s opinion lacks the force of law, but makes clear that the attorney general, the state’s top legal adviser, believes the state is constitutionally required to recognize the same-sex marriages legally performed in other states. Gansler, in his written opinion and public comments Wednesday, expressed his belief that the Court of Appeals will rule likewise when the issue inevitably reaches the state’s top court.

“This will ultimately be resolved in the court,” Gansler said during a press conference. “The court will ultimately have a say.”

Under the federal Constitution’s Full Faith and Credit Clause, the 45-page opinion explained, states are bound to recognize legally binding agreements, including marriage contracts, issued by other states. The only exception to this rule is if the contract so deeply offends a state’s public policy that it cannot extend such recognition.

Maryland’s recognition of same-sex marriages performed in other states does not offend the state’s public policy, Gansler concluded.

“While the matter is not free from all doubt, in our view, the Court of Appeals is likely to respect the law of other states and recognize a same-sex marriage contracted validly in another jurisdiction,” Gansler wrote in his opinion. “In light of Maryland’s developing public policy concerning intimate same-sex relationships, the court would not readily invoke the public policy exception to the usual rule” that states recognize legally binding agreements, including marriage contracts, from other states, Gansler added.

In recent years, the opinion explained, the state has extended many rights — short of actual marriage — to same-sex couples. These include the right to adopt and the right of same-sex partners to be involved in medical decisions affecting their loved ones.

The attorney general also cited the Court of Appeals’ history of recognizing marriages from other states that would have been invalid had they occurred or been performed in Maryland. These unions include a common-law marriage that was accepted in another state, as well as a legal Rhode Island marriage between an uncle and his niece.

Gansler, who supports gay marriage, said his personal views played no part in his advisory opinion.

“We’re not in the policy business,” Gansler said of the attorney general’s office. “We’re in the interpretation of law business.”

IBM Survey: Land Lines To Disappear

The Federal Communications Commission's National Broadband Plan has caught the attention of every telecommunications, digital media and technology firm.

As the business world waits for the plan to be released next month, many are speculating about what it will include and how they should react.

IBM surveyed 8,000 consumers and 60 telecom company executives to get a sense of Internet-related trends over the next decade, showing that broadband will continue to evolve and expand while traditional communications infrastructure--those copper lines we've used to make phone calls for decades--will rapidly disappear.

IBM predicts that the use of land lines will decrease by 95 percent in the next five to 10 years. Conversely, usage of mobile and wireless broadband will increase by 98 percent during the same period.

Abdolmalek Rigi, the leader of the Pakistan-based Jundullah terrorist organization was captured earlier this week by Iranian security officials in the south of the country.

Rigi was tracked by Iranian intelligence when he boarded a flight from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

According to officials, Rigi was using a forged Afghan passport which was issued to him by the U.S. government.

The 31-year-old terror leader issued a statement on Iranian state TV yesterday, during which he alleged that he had made a pact with the U.S. for safe haven and unlimited military aid to pursue terrorist activities against the Iranian government.

GOP Candidates Offered 'Statement Of Unity' To Defeat Mikulski

MARYLAND – The Republican Primary on September 14, 2010 has produced a spirited contest for the office of U.S. Senator, facing the probable Democratic primary winner, Barbara Mikulski. According to official reports and announcements, on the Republican ballot will be seven candidates, including: Carmen Amedori, John F. Curran, John B. Kimble, Daniel W. McAndrew, Jim Rutledge, Corrogan R. Vaughn, and Eric Wargotz.

Daniel "The Whig Man" Vovak has proposed a "Statement of Unity" for the Republican candidates to sign, and has pledged $250 to the primary winner, should that person sign his form. Vovak says, "Although I will not be a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010, I was a candidate in 2006 and I remember perfectly well how Michael Steele treated the primary as a mere formality, never reaching out to any of his nine primary opponents, which hurt our Party in November 2006. In 2010, it's a different situation because the Republican primary is a wide-open contest. It's not that Maryland Democrats have been successful, it's Maryland Republicans who lose statewide seats through internal division. Once these candidates unify behind the primary winner, any Democrat can be defeated."

Vovak says that following last week's U.S. Senate candidates' debate in Montgomery County, every Republican candidate sought his support. Last November, Vovak, 37, lost to Audrey Scott, 74, in the race for Maryland Republican Chairman, though Vovak won Wicomico County. In spite of losing statewide, Vovak sincerely congratulated Scott following her decisive win and offered his help. Vovak says this "Statement of Unity" is something he practices and believes. He says, "If I had won the chairman vote, I would have proposed this same Statement to position Republicans for winning, long before Election Day. I have no doubt Audrey Scott shares the same goal."

Currently, three of the seven candidates have indicated they will sign the Statement. Because Vovak has not been able to speak directly with all of them, he said he will wait until all have been given ample time to respond before releasing their names, though those candidates can speak freely at any time with their supporters and the media, should they desire to do so.

Within the Maryland Republican Party Constitution, under Article 11, Section 2, d(2), Maryland's Republican Chairman must show no "partiality or prejudice" towards any Republican candidate before a primary. Article 2, Section 2 states that the Party "works towards the election of Republican nominees."

SENATE PASSAGE OF SB 106: JOB CREATION AND RECOVERY TAX CREDIT

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON SENATE PASSAGE OF SB 106: JOB CREATION AND RECOVERY TAX CREDIT

ANNAPOLIS, MD
– Governor Martin O’Malley today issued the following statement on the Senate’s passage of SB 106 – Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit:

“I applaud Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr, Chairman Ulysses S. Currie and the members of the Senate on their swift action in unanimously passing the Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit. This bi-partisan effort to help Maryland workers and businesses is much-needed.

There is no government program that is as important and empowering as a job which allows a family to raise their kids with dignity and respect and a roof over their heads. In these tough times, everything we accomplish together this session must be seen through the lens of whether or not it creates jobs, protects jobs, or improves the environment for creating and protecting jobs.

The passage of this bill will give Maryland businesses a $5,000 credit for every unemployed Marylander they put back to work – thus serving the duel purpose of creating jobs and protecting the small and family owned businesses that are the backbone of our economy and the driving force for job creation in our State.

I want to thank the members of the Senate for working hard for the people of our State, and for passing this important piece of legislation that puts Marylanders back to work.”

Thai Ex-Premier's Hidden Assets, Abuse of Office Not Without Price Tag

BANGKOK - What one hand of the Thai state gave in privileged telecommunications concessions, the other has taken away on charges of policy corruption and the accumulation of unusual wealth. In a highly anticipated Supreme Court verdict on Friday, a nine-judge panel ruled on Friday to seize US$1.4 billion (46.4 billion baht) worth of former prime minister and telecom concessionaire Thaksin Shinawatra's and his family's assets.

The court found that Thaksin and his ex-wife Pojaman na Pombejra concealed their assets in violation of laws that bar politicians and their spouses from owning shares in private companies while in office. Judges also ruled that Thaksin abused his power as premier by implementing policies that directly benefited his private companies, including the now Singapore-owned Shin Corp, Advanced Info Services and Thaicom, then known as Shin Satellite.
Officials say Thaksin may be charged with ten more crimes.

Inmate Cons Guards, Walks Out Of MD Prison

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man serving three life terms conned his way out of a Baltimore prison with help from his cellmate, an extraordinary escape that raised questions about Maryland's procedures for releasing inmates.

Raymond T. Taylor, 26, of New York, successfully posed as a cellmate he never should have been paired with in the first place -- a man who happened to resemble him closely, corrections officials said Friday. He escaped Thursday afternoon and was recaptured Friday morning in West Virginia.

Taylor was convicted in 2005 of what prosecutors called the attempted "execution-style" slayings of his ex-girlfriend and her two teenage daughters. All three victims survived gunshot wounds to the head.

Taylor and cellmate William Johnson swapped photo identification cards Thursday afternoon, and when Johnson's name was called, Taylor answered, officials said. Four correctional officers checked the photo and inmate identification number -- which Taylor recited when asked -- and allowed him to walk out of the windowless, bunker-like Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center.

"There was a striking resemblance between the two," Assistant Commissioner of Correction Felicia Hinton said Friday.

Mug shots released by the corrections department revealed some facial similarities but many differences between the two men. Taylor wears his hair in long braids, while Johnson's is short. Corrections officials said Taylor hid his hair under a hat when he was released and noted that the men were the same height, with similar builds.

In Memory Of Some Dear & Respected Friends

Joe,

Less than a week ago we lost a good friend and fellow Paramedic Davy Davis. He will be memorialized tomorrow in Sharptown. He was a laugh that everyone needed, the friend anyone would have wanted to have, not to mention a great musician.

Tonight I heard that we lost a good friend, mentor and fellow Paramedic Steve Calloway today. I wanted to ask you to post this. Many Ems and Fire personnel read your website. Steve was a paramedic instructor for many years, a lot of us myself included, got our start as a paramedic with him. We celebrated his retirement from teaching several years ago, but he never quit practicing. This was the only way I could think of to reach out to many to let them know we've lost two of our own.

Thank you for your Time,
Betty Darby-Glime NREMT-P

Pelosi Sticks With Rangel, Notes E hics Panel ‘Did Not Take Action’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she’s once again sticking by embattled Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) — at least for now.

Pelosi (D-Calif.) said during a Thursday press conference that she had not yet read the full report from the ethics committee, which admonished Rangel, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, for improperly accepting reimbursement for two trips to the Caribbean.

“All I saw was the press release where they said he did not violate the rules of the House,” Pelosi said. “And I think that’s an important statement that they made.”

“I thank them for taking this action and I hope they will have other actions soon. But they did not take action against him, they just said he did not knowingly break the rules,” she said.

An ethical cloud has followed Rangel for more than a year, and Thursday's statement by the House ethics panel that Rangel violated House rules comes as Democrats are prepping themselves for difficult mid-term elections in November.

CDC Data: H1N1 Caused Far Fewer Deaths And Hospitalizations Than White House Projected

New Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics on the H1N1 flu strain show that fatalities and hospitalizations caused by the disease here in the United States over the past year never came close to the levels that the White House projected last summer could occur in the fall season of 2009 alone.

The CDC reported on Feb. 12 that an estimated 8,330 to 17,160 people have died from the virus in the U.S. since the H1N1 “swine flu” outbreak started in April 2009. In August, the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) published a report estimating that H1N1 could "cause between 30,000 and 90,000 deaths in the United States" in the fall of 2009.

The CDC reported that through Jan. 16 there had been between 183,000 and 378,000 H1N1-related hospitalizations in the United States. The PCAST report projected that there could be "as many as 1.8 million U.S. hospital admissions" as a result of the virus.

Troopers Seek Whereabouts Of Attempted Murder Suspect

Location: A residential address in the Mobile Gardens MHP in Seaford, Delaware

Date and Time: Friday, February 26, 2010, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Suspect(s): Maurice Antonio Handy, Jr., 20, with an unknown address. This subject is known to move between Dover, Seaford and Federalsburg, Maryland areas.

Resume: Detectives from Troop 4 in Georgetown are seeking the whereabouts of Maurice Handy who is currently wanted for Attempted Murder. The alleged incident took place today at a residence along North Parkway in the Mobile Gardens MHP in Seaford.

The case came to light after a 30-year-old female responded to Nanticoke Hospital to receive treatment after an assault.

The victim said she was lying on her couch when, unbeknownst to her, Maurice Handy apparently had unlawfully entered her residence and located her in the living room. The victim said that she looked up when she heard a noise and saw Maurice walking toward her in the hallway. She yelled for him to leave, however, he began to assault her. The suspect reportedly strangled the victim and struck her several times in the head. The victim tried to call 911, but the suspect took the phone from her.

The victim was able to start screaming again and the suspect eventually fled the residence.

The victim was released from the hospital with injuries consistent with the assault she alleged.

It is understood that the victim and the suspect have an ongoing dispute over money as Handy had stolen cash and credit cards from the victim in the past. Handy tried to call the victim last night to apologize for the theft, but the victim told him not to call her anymore and leave her alone.

It is not believed that this incident was domestic related.

A computer check revealed Handy is also currently wanted in reference to several different incidents. The charges consist of two counts of felony Burglary and Theft (misdemeanor).

Anyone who may know of Handy’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, Troop 4 at 302-856-5850 ext. 224 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

On February 26, 2010, the Office of the Medical Examiner for Maryland advised the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation that the human remains located in Snow Hill on February 19 were the remains of Christine Marie Sheddy.

Sheddy has been missing since November 14, 2007. Since that time, the case has been handled as a “missing person” case by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation. Assisting in the investigation is the Maryland State Police and the Office of the State’s Attorney for Worcester County.

No cause of death has yet been determined. All involved law enforcement agencies are treating this as a suspicious death.

Because this is a pending investigation, no further details will be disclosed at this time.

Senate President Issues Statement On Passage Of SB 106

Annapolis, Maryland (February 26, 2010) – Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. issued the following statement on the passage of SB 106 – Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit.

“From the beginning of the session, the Senate’s top priorities have been to manage the state’s finances responsibly and to create and protect jobs. The Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit represents a healthy partnership between government and the business community to create jobs and expedite our State’s economic recovery. I want to thank my colleagues in the Maryland Senate for acting quickly and in a bi-partisan fashion on this important piece of legislation.”

WHAT MR. IRETON DID NOT TELL US

Today’s Salisbury newspaper has a letter from the Mayor bemoaning the recent decision of the City Council about impact fees that is very misleading. Let’s consider his statements.

He states that 26 (less than 20%) of the towns in Maryland have some form of impact fees on new development, but does not say that Salisbury is one of those. Some years ago, it imposed a “capacity fee” to fund the sewer and water systems of about $5,000 for a new home, and other amounts for apartments and for nonresidential development. This impact fee is now $8,500 for a home, and it has also increased for other types of development. Nor does he point out that there is also a County impact fee for schools of more than $5,200 for a home – that’s over $13,500 for a new home. And there are other city fees that bring the total government charges to about $20,000 or more for a typical home.

He suggests that impact fees may be used for operational costs – employees (wages) – but they cannot. He also claims that “Salisbury’s been giving services away” but provides no examples of any gratuity afforded to developers and does not point out that the “developer reimbursement” policy was dropped several years ago.

The impact fees were a reason why the proposed brew-pub at the old train station was abandoned a year or so ago. These fees have an effect on new projects of all kinds.

To his credit, Ireton admits his public record, but in very vague terms – “votes taken a decade ago” – when he was on the City Council and voted against impact fees. Face it, Mayor, after you did so, and the fees at that time ended, Salisbury had major growth and new development, its tax base increased greatly, and much public revenue accrued as a result. But since the current impact fees were imposed, that growth has dropped to nearly none. Go figure.

Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren Heckled At University Of California

For how much longer will spineless liberal Americans tolerate these uncivilized animals?

I will ask you confused liberals two simple questions:

1. How many Americans have the Israelis murdered over the last thirty years?

2. Do you really believe things better in the OBAMANATION/ABOMINATION???????????? It appears the apologizing and condemnation for the United States never paid off.

The Great Dump Truck Scandal of 2010

Salisbury Councilwoman Terry Cohen It has all the traits of a Hollywood epic. The wicked witch and her oversized henchman attack the two heroines who are standing up for peace, justice and the American way.

After examining Salisbury councilwoman Terry Cohen’s chronology of events and her back-up documentation I concur that allowing this type of behavior to continue makes Salisbury city government more like Venezuela than the United States. However, both Ms. Cohen and councilwoman Debbie Campbell may differ with me as to who the real culprits are.

Regardless, I am grateful that Cohen and Campbell agree that the RULE OF LAW should prevail rather than the caprice of officials elected and appointed. Sadly, it doesn’t appear that the other members of council OR Mayor Jim Ireton worry too much about the niceties of little things like that.

Bernanke Delivers Blunt Warning On U.S. Debt

With uncharacteristic bluntness, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke warned Congress on Wednesday that the United States could soon face a debt crisis like the one in Greece, and declared that the central bank will not help legislators by printing money to pay for the ballooning federal debt.

Recent events in Europe, where Greece and other nations with large, unsustainable deficits like the United States are having increasing trouble selling their debt to investors, show that the U.S. is vulnerable to a sudden reversal of fortunes that would force taxpayers to pay higher interest rates on the debt, Mr. Bernanke said.

"It's not something that is 10 years away. It affects the markets currently," he told the House Financial Services Committee. "It is possible that bond markets will become worried about the sustainability [of yearly deficits over $1 trillion], and we may find ourselves facing higher interest rates even today."

OK people now this is my opinion:

This is a Federal Mandated Law that will cost tax payers millions of dollars for a requirement that CANNOT BE ENFORCED. Just think that everyone that has to register will be receiving an Anger Registration Card, which is water resistant, in the mail. With that how many federal employees are we paying with our tax payer money to run this worthless department. Do you want people randomly calling your house to ask you about how many fish you have caught and where? How many of the recreational fishermen are really going to register their catch? Why are non US citizens exempt from this regulation?

Simple Airport Security Solution

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports. Have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

It would be a win-win for everyone, and there would be none of this crap about racial profiling and this method would eliminate long lines at airports & long and expensive trials. Justice would be fair and swift.

Case Closed!

So.. What, Besides A Big Fence, Actually Works?

The system Congress and the Obama administration want employers to use to help curb illegal immigration is failing to catch more than half of the unauthorized workers it checks, a research company has found.

The online tool E-Verify, now used voluntarily by employers, wrongly clears illegal workers about 54 percent of the time, according to Westat, a research company that evaluated the system for the Homeland Security Department. E-Verify missed so many illegal workers mainly because it can't detect identity fraud, Westat said."

Clearly, it means it's not doing its No. 1 job well enough," said Marc Rosenblum, a researcher at the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan Washington think tank.

Media Event: Play-By-Play

President Obama pledged to "listen" at the outset of his much-ballyhooed bipartisan health care summit on Thursday. Turns out he meant he'd be listening to his own voice.

By the end of the televised event, Mr. Obama had spoken for 119 minutes - nine minutes more than the 110 minutes consumed by 17 Republicans. The 21 Democratic lawmakers used 114 minutes, giving the president and his supporters a whopping 233 minutes, according to a "talk clock" kept by GOP aides.

From the beginning, no one could agree on anything, even how much time each side had used. When a miffed Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, pointed out early on that Democrats had controlled 52 minutes to Republicans' 24, Mr. Obama jumped in to dispute even that.

"I don't think that's quite right," he said.

But then, with a twinkle in his eye, he added: "You're right, there was an imbalance on the opening statements because - I'm the president." Half the room laughed. "I didn't count my time in terms of dividing it evenly."

The two sides faced off in the Blair House's Garden Room, with members of Congress, grouped by party, sitting across from one another in a large square. Throughout the six-hour bloviating blabfest, no fences appeared to be mended and no hatchets buried.

In fact, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed so intractable that neither looked at Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee as he delivered the opening statement for the Republicans. Every time the C-SPAN 3 camera panned to the pair, they were looking straight ahead, expressionless.

Throughout the event, Mr. Obama, a former professor, looked, well, professorial. He listened attentively, his head cocked, his chin raised. He narrowed his eyes in attentiveness at a point here or there, blinking often; he jotted notes in a small book as Republicans spoke; he rested his head on his hand, giving full attention to the speaker.

But each time a Republican sought to break in to rebut a point made by the president or a fellow Democrat, Mr. Obama looked a bit frustrated and made clear who was in charge of the bipartisan discussion.

Appeals Court: We're Listening To Eligibility Case

An appeals court has indicated it is listening to arguments in a case that challenges Barack Obama's occupancy in the Oval Office with a ruling that gives special permission for an extra-long document to be filed in the case.

WND has reported on the case brought by attorney Mario Apuzzo in January 2009 on behalf of Charles F. Kerchner Jr., Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr.

Named as defendants were Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives, former Vice President Dick Cheney and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The case alleges Congress failed to follow the Constitution, which "provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate 'elected' by the Electoral College Electors."

The complaint also asserts "when Obama was born his father was a British subject/citizen and Obama himself was the same." The case contends the framers of the U.S. Constitution, when they adopted the requirement that a president be a "natural born citizen," excluded dual citizens.

According to a posting on Apuzzo's website, the rules of procedure for the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals provide that an appellant's opening brief is not to exceed 14,000 words.

However, Apuzzo wrote, "because of the extraordinary nature and complexity of the question of whether putative President Barack Obama is an Article II 'natural born citizen' and therefore eligible to be president, whether my clients … have standing to bring an action against Obama and Congress in which they maintain that Obama is not a 'natural born citizen' and that Congress failed to meet its constitutional duty to protect my clients by assuring them that Obama is a 'natural born Citizen…' I was compelled to file a brief which contained 20,477 words."

"By order dated February 22, 2010, the Honorable Circuit Judge Michael A. Chagares on behalf of the Motion's Panel of the 3rd Circuit Court of appeals granted plaintiffs' motion for leave to file the overlength brief."

"This is great news because the case will now continue forward as scheduled," he said. "Obama's and Congress's opposition brief was initially due on Feb. 22, 2010. The Department of Justice obtained a 14-day extension to file that brief, making the new due date March 8, 2010.

"After they file their opposition brief, I will then have 14 days within which to file a reply to that brief," he said.
