Send Your Thoughts To The Alvarado Family Here

I am a Nurse that works with Dr. Alvarado. Myself, along with many of my co-workers have made white ribbion pins (white stands for hope). So if you could please pass this along so we all can show our support for Dr. Alvarado. I purchase the supplies from Micheals.I have attached a pic of what they look like. Thank you for your time.

While we received a phone call last night from Dr. Alvarado's Sister in Texas, Family & Friends are coming to Salisbury News to stay updated on his condition.

We have not heard, (as of this time) any news this morning but I can assure you that as soon as something comes in we'll have it posted.

What Salisbury News will deliver is 1st Hand Information! NOT a mother who works with a Doctor who knows a Nurse who knows of another Nurse at Shock Trauma, etc...

So please be patient and continue to pray for a miracle.

We will keep this Post at the top and all other news will fall below this Post.

UPDATE: "No substantial change. He is still fighting. The Son's and Wife appreciate all of the tremendous support." 9:56 AM.

UPDATE #2: "Status still the same." 11:54 AM.

UPDARE #3: "There was some minor improvement this morning. Keep praying."

UPDATE #4: "From Jose E. Alvarado: Thank You for all your prayers and support. It means so much to me to hear all the love in the community for my father. He is currently in critical but stable condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore. It will be another day or so before we will know of any major changes in his condition. Please continue to pray for my father and my family. Thank You."

UPDATE #5: "Same status." 7:47 AM Friday.

  4. I am praying for Dr. Alvarado and his family...this is such a sad thing. I just know he is going to pull through.

And...glad to see you are just posting 1st hand info...last night was a mess.

  5. thats fine joe, you dont have to post anything. But you also can post factual information or nothing at all. Your posts give false hope and i was trying to help you get the FACTS out. Here is a fact for you. The head of peds at PRMC told all the peds staff last night that Dr. Alvarado was on life support waiting for all the family to say goodbye. Another fact, the peds drs there last night were crying with the peds nurses because they were told the same thing. I understand that you have to confirm information before reporting it as facts, but your post from an insider at shock trama does not match the information that is being given to peds nurses and drs at prmc. This isn't information from a nurse to a nurse. It's first hand from a head figure at PRMC

  6. I would like to send my heart felted thought to Dr A's family, my son saw him yesterday morning at his office. My son is autistic and Dr A has been a God sent to me, I also live on Smith Island which is a added problem. I have been praying all night long and will continue to pray for him and his family, he's a wonderful man whom is loved by many.

  7. Although I have not had the privilege of meeting this man....I know many who have. I have heard nothing but great things about him. He is a great asset to this town! My prayers are with him & his family!

  8. You know, pick a lane.

Either decide to POST FACTS FROM OFFICIAL, NAMED SOURCES on this, or don't.

We all know you monitor and approve comments, so saying you won't post gossip and then letting comments on that are basically anonymous gossip - that's hypocritical. Make up your mind.

I'll watch the news - yes, I may find out later, but I can trust that it's not idle gossip. Geez.

The man has family & close friends out there. have some respect and don't post anything wither way until you know for sure.

Would you want YOUR family seeing this back & forth of 'he is going to make it' and 'he's already gone' if it were you? His patients are kids - you have young teens online, who have had this man as a part of their young lives since they can remember, and who don't necessarily know how to differentiate gossip from news.

Step back and be careful. This one isn't just a 'story'.

  9. please post the facts. And there are so many rumors going around salisbury and PRMC that you cannot believe. Everyone hears something and by the time it gets to someone else it has changed. LETS STOP ARGUING KEEP OUR MOUTHS SHUT UNTIL WE HEAR IT FROM THE FAMILY AND JUST PRAY FOR HIM!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I believe at this time what happened at PRMC stays at PRMC. Dr. Alvarado is at Shock Trauma fighting for his life and the last thing the family needs is people fighting to deliver the most current information. Your focus at this time should be praying and helping the family and Dr. Alvarado find the strength to pull through such a horrific accident!

Dr. A. IS/was always a compassionate, calm, informative person who always put his patients/parents feelings and well being first. I believe we all need to respond to his family in the same way.

We all need to be patient at this time...because this is going to be a long struggle with hopefully an amazing outcome!

    Pull together Salisbury...not apart!

  12. Dr. A has cared for my children for the past 14 years. He is a wonderul person and one of the kindest, most caring doctors I have met. My prayers are with his family. Over the past years he has been a true gift from God for our community.

  13. Agree 100% with 9:41....it's about respect!

    ReplyDelete
  14. anonymous 9:41, wjile I don't have a lot of time to respond because of so many comments coming in, I will say this. The immediate Family is by his side.

People have their right to their First Amendment Rights but as we publish updates one thing I can assure you of is that we are "in the know" on this matter.

As soon as we have concrede information it will be Posted.

  15. If all of you people have such "reliable" information than why is it that you have it and nobody in the news or local PD have the same information! I had a "nurse" at PRMC tell me last night that he had already died! Again, unreliable!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Whatever the outcome may be, it is sad news for Salisbury. Dr. Alvarado has been the hope of many parents. As a doctor and human being he has done so much for the children in this community that no one will ever be able to take his place.

May God bless Dr. Alvarado and his family!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have moved from the Salisbury area due to a work opportunity, but my thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Alvarado and his family. The news has reached me very far away via Facebook and this blog. The world will not be the same place without him, so I do hope he's fighting.

Dr. Alvarado provided excellent care to my high-risk preemie daughter, and lots of patience to her mother.

Joe, if you get this information, can you post where people can send a card for the family?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Just keep praying for Dr. A and people let Joe or a credible source give us updates. We don't need an anonymous sources spreading news. Please stop with the negative waves. Positive thoughts only.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We can sit and speculate all we want. Bottom line is we should all pray for him and his family.

Also let's give a shout out to the EMS teams, firefighters and police. The road was closed for more than four hours yesterday. They had a very difficult job too. Thank you.

  20. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Alvarado and his entire family and staff. What a wonderful man, superb Doctor, and our kids are fortunate to have been blessed with him as their Doctor. We all need to pray and quit with the ignorant comments and views. Personally, I would not even post them. There are some sick people in this world.

FIGHT Dr. Alvarado, there is still so much you have to do on this earth. God Bless you and your family!

  21. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Alvarado and his family. He is such a fine gentleman, God help him through this.

  22. This should be about lifting Dr.A up in prayer, as well as lifting his family during this terrible time.
Not about what anyone has "heard".
Please do not provide a forum to continue any unconfirmed status reports.
Dr. A would not be about this.
Please continue to show the respect this man and his wife and sons deserve, please pull together in prayer to offer them strength- and not gossip and innuendo about his condition.

  23. My thoughts & prayers are with the Alvarado's this morning. I wish the speculation would just stop.

AS a Nurse @ PRMC, I am embarrassed and shocked that there is information leaking out. There are HIPPA laws to protect a patient's privacy...no matter WHO the patient may be. Shame on whomever is informing anyone of ANYTHING!! :( Show some respect for Dr. A and his family!!

  24. Never in my life have a known a more compassionate and caring man than Jose Alvarado. To that I also add that I have never EVER heard an ill word spoken of the man. In today’s negative society that is in and of itself is an accomplishment. 19 years ago he saved my son’s life and comforted me as if my son was his own, what a rare person this man truly is.
Pray for him, comfort each other and have faith that he will recover.

Our hearts go out to the whole family, and we pray Dr. A receives the wonderful care and understanding spirit he has so generously shared with others.

  34. Dr. Alvarado,
You are in my prayers. God has this whole thing in his hands. You were great to my daughter Caitlan as well as my other kids. I know that without your knowledge and Gods hand on my daughter that Caitlan wouldn't be here today. I believe that if God were to take you today it is with great thought for he probably needs you to take care of all the aborted babies that we have thrown away. I will continue to pray and ask God to spare you so that Salisbury will continue to have the excellent care they need from you. To your family including your Doctors office, thanks for letting us have the wonderfull care that your husband and boss brings. You all are wonderfull. Betsy and I will be praying for you as well.

  36. "Beyond the Sunset"

Should you go firt and I remain
    to walk the road alone,
Ill live in memories garden dear,
    with happy days weve known.
In Spring Ill wait for roses red,
    when faded, the lilacs blue,
In early fall when brown leaves fall. Ill catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first and I remain,
for a battle to be fought.
Each thing you touched along the way
    will be a hallowed spot.
Ill hear your voice, Ill see your smile,
    though blindly I may grope.
The memory of your healing hand
will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain,
one thing Ill have to do.
Walk slowly down that long long path,
for one day I will follow you.
I want to know each step you take. so I may take the same.
For some day down that lonely road
you will hear me call your name.

  37. Dr. A told me a story in his office of when he was a child his father, also a physician, had a medical bag which he got into and ate all of the sugar cubes laced with the polio vaccine. He always took the time for you. One of the all time greats.

  38. We never know when a loved one or friend of ours will be in this situation. Make sure they know all the wonderful things you would say about them if they were fighting for their lives.

  39. We continue to pray for the Alvarado family. Dr. Alvarado has been in our lives for sixteen years. The trust and faith we have in this man is second to none. Without a doubt, our children have received the best care anyone could ever receive from a pediatrician. We love you and we ask God to heal and protect you during this difficult time.

  40. I have had Dr. Alvarado as my doctor for such a long time. He is one of those kinds of people who is gentle and kind, and time after time, you find your self amazed by what wonders that he can work. He is amazing, kind, generous, hard working, faithful, and he NEVER gives up. He even takes his time to go on missions to other countries to bless poor and sick children with his skills. He puts others first, and he is professional and still makes you feel like family. He has been a blessing to family's across Delmarva, and it would be like losing family if this man were to pass away. He is an honor to our community, and most importantly, our lives. Even if you do not know this man, please take some time to at least pray for him and his family, now that you know how committed he is. It only takes a second, but it could save his life. I am proud to call him my doctor. Thank You and God Bless.

  41. Joe,

My family holds Dr. Avarado close to our hearts. In these days of managed care and "get them in and get them out" in many medical offices, Dr. A always gave us all the time we needed to ask questions about our children's health without ever making us feel rushed. I know he is extremely hard working - usually doing rounds at the hospital in the very early morning before a full day at his office.

We are keeping him and his kids in our thoughts and prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  42. PLEASE, Joe and all -- for the love of God -- do NOT discuss who's "first" or "accurate" with news or rumor. Using this sad, sad occasion to do that is just sick and tasteless. I was crying my eyes out last night reading here that he was dead. Today I read he isn't and I am back to the same prayer when I heard about the accident. This is an emotional time for many, many people, not just those "reporting."

Dr. Alvarado and family, I am praying so hard for you all. May God be with you. My heart and that of my family are with you. We are praying so hard for God's intervention and that this has a happy ending for you.

  44. Dr. Alvarado is truly the greatest pediatrician I've ever met! Not only was he my pediatrician, but he was also my children's. I was so excited to be able to take my children to my own childhood physician...there's something about his dedication, calm-nature, and the time he takes with each of his patients to answer all questions and to put the children at ease when they see him. Both of my children LOVE going to the doctor and I credit Dr. Alvarado with that! My 4 year old son and I have been praying for the Lord to spare his life for those of us who rely on him for good health and expertise, for his wife, children and sister in law that we've heard stories about over the last several years, and for the wonderful staff that is there to greet us each time we see them. I am truly grateful for his warm and honest advice and for sharing his own child-rearing stories with me to assure me that I'm doing what I should do as a good mother should. Thank you for ALL you have done to touch ALL of our lives, Dr. A...you truly are an Angel in my family's eyes. And, Dr. Sophie & Ms. Joyce--you have some pretty BIG shoes to fill b/c as long as his practice remains we will STICK with you guys!!! My son can't wait to see the "fish room" with Dr. A in his scuba gear swimming away from the Shark! We love you all so very dearly. Everything happens in the LORD's time so please know that whatever happens is God's will and stive not to be tempted by anger or doubt to get through this time of sorrow. Just remember the good times as there were SOOO VERY MANY!!!

  49. Dr Alvarado has taken care of all 5 of my children since the day they were born. I have known him for 18 years and he is the best pediatrician there is. He has seen my children thru serious illness and the common cold and he treats you the same. He is always smiling and making direct eye contact with you, he never acts like he is in a hurry and always asks how you are doing as well as the rest of your family. I love that man, I trusted my children's lives with him and I pray with all my heart he will recover from this. We need him here all of our babies need his continued care. I know it's in the Lord's hands now but I pray he comes back to all of us. I don't know if I will ever find anyone I trust so much they won't even come close. Please Dr. A, fight, fight hard....we love you and need you!!

  65. Dr. Alvarado was my children's pediatrician and is my grandchild's doctor. My youngest child turned 18 this year and I was heartbroken when I learned that Dr. Alvarado could no longer be his physician. Dr. Alvarado actually had a tear in his eye the last time he saw my son for a physical knowing he was now an adult - he knew my son from the time he was born. Dr. Alvarado is a wonderful doctor and more importantly, he is a kind and giving person. I have been steadily praying since I heard about this tragedy and I know that God has a plan for Dr. A as he does for all of us. I just hope the plan is for him to continue on this earth, at least for a while longer. To the Alvarado boys - your dad loves you very much and is very proud of all of you. Please remember that God will give you strength. Margareta - thank you for sharing your husband with our children. Dr. A. will need you through his recuperation. I am praying for all of you.

  67. Dr. Alvarado has been our "family" member since 1994 and words cannot express how our family of five feels about what Dr. Alvarado and his family is going through right now. I just want them all to know that a more honest and nobler man...we do not know...and knowing how many nights and days he spent in vigil and in thoughts over his many precious patients over the years...we are also keeping him and his family in constant thoughts and prayers. It is the very least we could do. With a heavy heart and tears aplenty...we pray for Dr. Alvarado's health and place it all in the best hands of all...God Almighty!

  72. Last week, I had to be taken by ambulance and was very scared. It was Dr. A who came by my side for a moment prior to the ambulance arriving. With a very calm, gentle, voice. He spoke to me briefly about my symptoms and softly told me I was going to be just fine. It was because of him that I was able to calm down. Ironically a week later he was in the ambulance. I wish I could kneel down to his hear and give him the same peace he gave me. So I will do it from here: Doctor Alvarado, you are going to be just fine! I am hopeful in hearing Dr. A's condition is stable. Pray, Pray, Pray. I have prayed that God will be Dr. A's great physician as Dr. A himself has been to many. I believe and have much Faith that God is going to work miracles to heal Dr. A and touch the hands of the many other physicians and nurses caring for him. Prayers to his family, and office family. Many love you all very much!

And thank you Joe for keeping us updated. I know you have caught some grief, but I know you are also doing the best you can to get us the correct information. Thank You.

Dr A always went out of his way to speak to me whenever he saw me in the grocery store or somewhere else. He is a kind and gentle man who loves his family. I pray for Dr. A and his entire family. I believe in miracles. Let's keep PRAYING=only GOD can take care of him.

  76. I love Dr. A. and his whole staff. My heart just aches for all of them. I've been praying big time that the Lord will work a miracle in him and have my 6 and 8 year old children on it too. Dr. A has been their pediatrician since the day each of my three children were born. He is such kind, gentle, and knowledgeable man, a faithful servant. We all are in his debt, as well as to his family who has been so generous to share a large portion of his time, talent and love with us, the Salisbury community, and especially, our children.

Have faith people! Keep lifting Dr. A, his staff and family up in prayer. Keep it positive and no doubt, some good will come of this.

"For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope." Jer 29:11

  79. I have never met Dr. Alvarado but after reading all these great words about him from so many people, there is no question that he is truly a remarkable human being. Since hearing of his accident yesterday, I have been constantly visiting Joe's blog hoping and praying that there is good news. I have read the many heartwarming comments and prayers for the Alvarado family and have said some prayers for them as well. May God give this family the strength to get through this terrible time and may God give Dr. Alvarado the strength to continue his fight. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all the people whose lives he has touched. The power of prayer is amazing and I have faith that he will win this fight.

  81. 12:55 PM: If I had driven past the accident, I would have kept on going, as well, though I would have been on my phone calling 911. I have no medical skills, and no fire fighter or police training. I have little to offer a situation like that other than getting in the way.

  82. I do not know Dr. Alvarado and have never met him, his family or his staff. I am holding him and his family up in prayer tonight and will continue to do so.
It is absolutely stunning to me to read how this man has touched so many lives in such a deep, deep way.
From what I have read from the Moms and the Dads, he truly is an angel on earth. What a blessing he has been in all of your lives! Dear God, please hold Dr. Alvarado in your loving arms and help him to heal, so that he can return to those who need him and love him.
He cared for Your little ones and thereby he cares for all of your creatures, and for You.
May the warm and healing breath of God flow over Dr. A and fill him with the power of restoration.
Amen. God Bless all of you.

  83. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Alvarado's practice for several years now, and he is the most competent, the nicest, the most easy going man I've encountered at my job. My thoughts and prayers go out to this great man, and to his family in this difficult time.

  84. I watch this blog for positive news. And as I wait for the positive news, I continue to pray for Dr. Alvarado's healing, comfort for the family and wisdom for those treating Dr. Alvarado.

My daughter is praying that God will heal her doctor. She often sees the NP but she knows who her doctor is and thinks very highly of him. Even as a child she understands severe injury and God's healing powers.

  85. Jose, I am praying for your father's recovery day and night as well for strength for your family. I have been at Shock Trauma with a loved one and can say that he is in the best hands, God and the trauma team there. Dr. A has helped so many. I am sure that this is one of the strongest prayer chains ever.

  87. I cannot begin to express the blessing that Dr. A has been in our life. The first pediatrician I picked for my daughter left me feeling less than content and I made the scary decision to switch her to Dr. A. I was nervous...what if I liked him less than the one we had? From the first moment Dr. A entered that treatment room door...my daughter responded to him without hesitation! As other people have touched on...Dr. A's gentle, calming, reassuring presence was everything we could have asked for. He was a ray of sunshine for me and my daughter! We have been with him for 10 years now and I simply cannot imagine trusting anyone else with my most cherished God given gift - my daughter! We have been praying constantly, we have shed tears and we continue to pray that Dr. A will return to his God given place in this lifetime...taking care of our children! Please continue to fight Dr. A - we love you!

  88. Before our daughter was born, we began searching for a pediatrician. We didn't have to search long after asking friends and family about their thoughts. Everybody mentioned Dr. Alvarado. They said he was the greatest. When we were in the hospital, I got up one morning around 5 o'clock and went to the nursery to see my daughter. There was Dr. Alvarado checking all of the newborns, making sure they received the utmost care. He then went room to room and updated all parents about the status of their babies. When he came into our room, it was as though we knew him forever. The sincere kindness and caring Dr. Alvarado showed was amazing. As it has only been six months since the birth of our daughter, the support of Dr. Alvarado and his office has been outstanding. I cannot imagine another docotr who could compare to Dr. Alvarado. We continue to pray for Dr. Alvarado and his family. God makes miracles happen and Dr. Alvarado is a miracle.

  89. I will never forget the day my son was born. Dr. Alvarado came in to do his rounds and his first comment was "he's a keeper!" Well you are a keeper to Dr. A. We are all praying so hard for you.

My 6yr old son has been praying so hard. Here was his prayer from last night, "Lord, please make Dr. Alvarado all better. He is my favorite doctor and he has to be okay. Please stay at the hospital with him and whatever you do,do not let him go to heaven because I need him to be my doctor cause I love him and he is really nice to me and does not make me cry. Amen"

He has had such a positive impact on so many families. We all have to pray, he is a miracle and God will perform a miracle!

What a remarkable thing to have SO many people standing behind you and your family in time of need! Keep the prayer and positive talk about Dr A..

  113. Dearest Alvarado family- Our deepest regrets at the loss of your dear husband and father. My three children have been Dr alvarado's patients for 5 years. We moved here from PA and didn't have a pediatrician when my youngest had a recurrent kidney infection and a doctor at a clinic made an appointment with him for her. She ended up being hospitalized and Dr Alvarado was able to tell us that she had been misdiagnosed by her doctors in PA and was very humble to say that she needed a specialist over at Hopkins. Through the years he has always had a cheerful smile and a kind word for all. As a nurse I have seen him at the hospital, where all loved him. He will be deeply missed by the community, as he has touched many lives. May you feel the Lord's presence as you remember and celebrate his life.
    Deepest sympathy, Kelly Calpino
