Bad News For Princess Anne, Great News For Salisbury

There aren't many Police Officers I have ever met that weren't genuinely great people. However, there are a hand full of them that I hold some of the greatest respect in the world for. Without expressing who all of them actually are, one of them you wouldn't have to take a split second to know it's Sheriff Mike Lewis. He's my favorite "White Cop." Now Ernie Leatherbury, he's my favorite "Black Cop." I know Ernie has a huge smile on his face right now reading this because he knows me better than most people out there and he knows I don't see color and can enjoy my warped sense of humor.

But seriously Folks, Ernie has just been made Barracks Commander right here in Salisbury and will be leaving Princess Anne to come join the ranks of all of the other fine Officers at the Salisbury Barracks.

Now Ernie knows that it has been my own personal desire to see him replace the Salisbury Police Chief Webster. In fact, every time I see Ernie I shake his hand and say, hello Chief. Ernie always responds with a slight punch in the arm, a smile and the old, come on Joe.

This is a fine young man and we're all very lucky to have him here in Salisbury. In fact, I'd like to welcome him by taking out the entire squad of Officers across the street to Sam's Club for a Nathan's Hot Dog and a Soda, my treat. LOL We'll call it a Carbonated Soda Party, then get right back to work.

Seriously though, Congratulations Ernie and even more so, Congratulations Salisbury Barrack! They just don't get any better than this fine gentleman and there's no question he'll fit right in with the rest of the fine Officers in Salisbury. Just think, finally, someone local to set the bar for the Sheriff's Department. LMAO!

  1. Joe, this is fantastic news! Ernie and Mike Lewis will give each other great cooperation.

Now, if we could just get rid of Webster and get Ernie and Mike someone to cooperate with, we just might see the turnaround we need in Salisbury!

    Hot dog!

  2. I remember lifting weights in Diamond Fitness near Fruitland about 20 years ago along side Ernie and many other troopers. Ernie always had a smile on his face and was never arrogant. Congratulations to him, I say he's as strong and respected as Ed Lachley (now head of SSU force)

  7. If he is half the man Ole Ernie was, he'll make one hell of a commander. I know Ole Ernie and Miss Frances are proud as peacocks. Stay true to yourself young Ernie.

  9. It's not "Young Ernie". My friend isn't young anymore. He's always been and always will be, to those of us who love him...LITTLE ERNIE!

Congratulations to you Ernie. You deserve it. Pops is proud.

  10. Hard combination to beat.
Sheriff Lewis, Chief Leatherberry. If it ever happens, watch crime go down in Salisbury dramatically.

  16. Now that you are all done patting LIL ERn on the back. Lets take a hard look at the stats at the Princess Anne Barrack. Great leaders produce great things. I loved his dad but he is not his father. Sorry no reach around here. The stats stink and this is nothing more than a political move by someone who just might want to run for Sheriff in Somerset.

One has to ask themself why would a Barrack Commander not want to wear his uniform ?? Lil E hardly ever wears it. He drives a State vehicle that looks nothing like other Barrack Commander's Vehicle.

Hard to tarvel about if you are in uniform and a roller. Who is he hiding from ?? He is the police.

No he is a nice guy but he is not his father. He is not what S.P.D. needs, they have lived for years with a man who refused to wear the uniform and was way to close to local politics.

Lt. Col Leatherberry paid his dues. He came through hard times and there was no shame in anything that man did.

All this talk of big arrest, thugs beware. What exactly has Lt. Leatherberry done. What big cases has he worked. What major dealer did he take off.

Well he has been to numerous political functions. He had the right last name. He is very close to the RIGHT people. Hell yea make him a Chief. Hell he is over qualified.
