SWARTZ & POLLITT DEBATE SALARY CUTS AND TAX REVENUE CAP

Although it lacks the drama of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, this dialogue that took place recently is interesting.

  1. Reference to Michael Swartz testimony on Wicomico County budget dilemema.

You have to admit - the guy is really on the ball. He called it like he sees it and I absolutely tend to agree with him.

  2. Ricky Pollitt is beginning to look like an oversized boy trying to do a man's job!

  3. So you dont want to touch any gov. employees paychecks....yet you have NO problem tapping into everyone else's paychecks via more taxes. Well guess what thick head, the majority of citizens in this county are NOT gov employees...most in one way or another have been hit hard by this economy {a gov screw-up} we have been paying far to much in taxes for many years now. No matter how much we pay...you would spend it all and scream for more {maybe you should have been paying attention when you gave away our money to charities of YOUR choice}. Stop spending! Tighten your belt like the rest of us! Ask yourself....will there be another paycheck next week? Will you have a job next week?
It's time for the people of this county to make some serious cuts at the top of all these administrative salaries...alot of money with very little in return for it! Gov. should be run like a business, and all businesses are cutting all the fat at the top now....lets act now before its too late!

  4. Can anyone tell us ANYTHING Pollit has cut spending on?

  5. How about we cut tax revenue, like those of us that lost our incomes?
Maybe 5 or 10 thousand of us stop paying property tax for a year or so, they cant take all our homes. Maybe that will help him find ways to cut spending instead of excuses to take more!

  6. rick pollitt has really turned into the typical pollittician, his whole citizen tax discussion is a hoax,he and his croanies really didn't want citizen imput, they are simply greasing us up for a big hit.notice the way he responded to questions and comments-always ending them with a fake exhortation.he is lying to us and soon you will see that he is lying.he is the absolute worst first (and I hope never again)county executive that we could have ever voted for.his WHOLE administration needs to be voted out.ASAP

  7. Wow!!!

I'm really impressed with this website media.

WHERE IN THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE!!!!

No joke, this media is the best form of unbiased news coverage I have ever witnessed.

FOX News doesn't have anything over SBYnews. In fact, if anything FOX News could learn alot from SBYnews.

    Keep-up the good work.

  8. Why is county government considering making promotions within certain county departments if the county has no money to spare?

  9. The Wicomico County Government really needs to be audited unconditionally and all county departments need to be reexamined for shortfalls and misspending.

  10. we have Pollitt and Shea, add Creamer again, and an public information officer. Too top heavy and yes taxes are high when you add in the local income tax we pay plus real estate it becomes a burden on all of us.

  12. The entire Cty Gov Is totally
DISGUSTING. There is so much waste
among offices & needless hire of
Creamer, Pollitt, & Ed Baker .

Ck on some of your guys who are
    out during the day---you'll find
many are robbing taxpayers of at
leate 15 hrs of money per wk.

People out here are not blind or
stupid---they know what is happening---get to work & find out
for yourself. There you will find
the answer to your needed funds!!

  13. It is commendable Mr Pollitt does not want to dampen enthusiasum among Cty employees by cutting pay,
however he had better become more
realistic . I did not want to have
to take a cut in my salary either,
yet my Insurance just went to a $4000.00 deductable per yr. for both my husband & myself. Yes, that is $8000.00 we would have to pay out of pocket should we both
require surger during a yr period.
Now, let us ask the Cty & State
how much their total benefit pkg.
is worth , pd by the taxpayers, &
IS NOT TAXED. A few yrs ago my
    brother-in-law said his was worth
at least $8,000.00 a yr. That is
an excellant perk!! A better way
to cut your Cty exp. is to look at
many of your employees who wk out
of office, 2 hr lunch breaks &
there was one in particular who just retired who stole at least
20 hrs of free time from us!! Yup
that's correct, I watched him come
home every day for yrs.Seems like a
good private investigator would save this Cty one heck of a lot
    of money.
    Quit taking from the public---they
have enough to worry about without
being taxed to death. How about
cutting the Cty EX position &
letting Mr Baker give up his full
pension the Cty allowed him to
    buy into.
The entire Cty Gov. Is totally
    DISGUSTING!!!!!!

Pollitt cremated Ron Alessi, so just think what he would do to Mike Dunn.
