Harvard Custom Manufacturing Random Drug Testing

It's been reported that the Harvard Custom Manufacturing Company here in Salisbury, (next to the old Mall) recently submitted a random drug test and had to let go somewhere between 40 to 50 people. They have a huge Help Wanted Sign out front in case any of you are looking for a minimum wage job.

  1. In an economy like this, a job is a job. Some income is better than no income. Sometimes you just can't hold out for that dream job and you have to take what is available at the time. People really need to stop being so particular. You take what you can until something better comes along. That elitist mentality will send you to bed hungry and cold.

  2. You know, I'm really glad that this company does random drug testing. Every company/business should be so smart as to do this all the time.

  4. Too bad that the weed you smoked two weeks ago at that weekend party cost you your job.
Not too bad that you lost that job because of the crack you smoked in the parking lot before you came to work.
And too bad you who are having a nip in the parking lot before work and out of your thermos at lunch won't lose yours.

  5. This company hires criminals with records. Just checkem out

  6. Min. Wage is about all they pay and expect $20.00 an hour performance. What a bunch of JERKS to work for to start with. The people who lost their jobs were most likely the top performers.

  7. This is a great company to work for with EXCELLENT benefits. The HR department sucks but the rest of the company is great. If you like your job, why risk it??!!

  8. Anon 9:43 Criminals need jobs just like everyone else.

  9. 1. Joe, seriously. A job is a job, stop knocking people who make minimum wage.

    2. Every time I see people on your blog joking about how they should be allowed to get stoned at work, and how criminals need jobs, etc- basically being ignorant - it makes me so sad for Salisbury.

If people want to see Salisbury turn around, they need to respect each other, quit acting like teenagers, and have some class. Otherwise - well, it won't really matter who wins the election.

  10. minimum wage is no were enough to do that job there, so many people tested for drugs needed them so they would not be under so much stress. They might have good benefits But why can't they keep anybody there, not counting drugs what did they do test the whole business

  11. when you take a job, knowing that they do random drug testing and you knowingly do something that would potentially incriminate you, you are the idiot, and you deserve what you get.

  12. I wonder why they fired so many when they have a help wanted sign out front.

  13. Joe you sir are a coward. Do you hire a bunch of pot heads to work for you?

  14. Do all the comments that get sent in get approved? I would think someone as upstanding as you would allow the people you "work" for to exercise their 1st amendment right.

  15. Why would those employees think they could put whatever they want into their own bodies? What were they thinking?
Our government, our employers, our schools have every right to tell us what we can eat, drink or smoke. You don't like it? Move to Amsterdam.
You have no right deciding what goes into your body. That kind of thinking is totally offensive to the rest of us.

  16. It's a no win situation. Those 40 to 50 people will now apply for welfare and 40 to 50 people ON welfare will get those jobs.

    1. Wrong, fired from a job can disqualify you from those benefits.

  17. Supposedly there have been a lot of On The Job Accidents there and my guess is that their insurance company is probably coming down on them hard...

    But that’s just one theory

You dont know what you are talking about. Go fight a fire somewhere in your big truck with blue lights on top of it. Unless you work there and have first hand knowledge of accidents you should keep your mouth shut, you are no better than others that are telling half truths.

  19. For all of you that think you know the facts you are wrong. The facts are there are less than 15 people that no longer work at Harvard due to a choice they made, drugs.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 12:13am you are a misinformed idiot. There were less than 15 people total that chose not to work at Harvard any longer.

BigEastFireDog, Relax bud, I am just yanking your chain. Just looking for a little excitement on this board because Joe refuses to post the truth.

  30. It's no biggy bud thus the whole Blue lights comments being put in each comment and the Night Night comment as well I get what you are saying I really do.

By the way I don’t know how may were fired or let go or even quit I only know what the person who works there told me and that’s all I posted about the on the job injuries By all means don’t read into it just what’s there

P.S. Lying and telling half-truths is not my cup of tea if I did drink tea. I’m a coffee guy. And I wouldn’t consider my truck all that big but just big enough to get the job done with all the satisfaction ever wanted....lol

    P.P.S. Have a lovely day....BUD!

  32. It is a Safe place for Drug dealers. I don't feel safe. Feels like a jail with all the police visits this place gets.

  33. Should the Federal Government do a Random On Harvard Customs Manufacturing. DEA check all the vehicles in the lot first and don't let anyone leave. Just Expressing myself. I'm tired of working around drug dealers and the people who use the drugs AT WORK. I LOVE AND NEED MY JOB. I should not feel like this at work.

Steven in HR has to get everyone tested for drug abuse and send them out the door. PLEASE allot people in the offices use and know they will never be checked.

  34. Here is an idea - have someone from this website conduct a truthful interview with HCM - that way the facts would be straight.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The correct story in case anyone wants to know is that it wasnt 50 people. it was around 20. Drugs were found in a section of the building and all employees in that area were tested. Then were then given the opportunity to quit or go on unpaid leave and get into a treatment program. then return to work

with over 1,000 employees HCM can't catch everyone that does illegal drugs.

And we hire people with criminal pasts from time to time because people change.people deserve second chances.people make wrong decisions and shouldnt be punished for the rest of their lives.

as for police visits.its true.we have them come in 2-3 times per year.in most cases its for people who have outstanding warrents for minor crimes.

all new employees get drug screened and then all employees may be picked at random to be tested. including management.

its a great place to work and for all of you that think its ok to do drugs and work at a place like HCM you are doing too many drugs yourself. we produce electrical parts that go into military equiptment and aircraft. you cant do that sort of work under the influence
