Sgt. Slaughter Comes To Salisbury Today!

The Shorebirds welcomed Sargent Slaughter to tonight's Ball Game.

With one of the most instantly recognizable monikers of any grappler in history, Sgt. Slaughter is truly one of a kind. A former U.S. Marine, he earned his famous ring name during the service. Once he began his professional career, he would certainly solidify that name, intimidating adversaries and fans alike in his trademark drill sergeant attire. He was a top contender to Bob Backlund’s WWE Championship, and faced Bruno Sammartino in the Italian legend’s final Madison Square Garden appearance prior to his 1981 retirement. He was an NWA United States Champion, as well as NWA World Tag Team Champion with Don Kernodle. Sarge experienced a popularity explosion that coincided with Hogan's in 1984. Along with Hogan and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Slaughter was one of WWE’s most beloved Superstars of the mid-1980s. GO HERE for the Official Website.

After departing WWE, he became the celebrity spokesman for Hasbro’s "G.I. Joe" TV cartoon and toy line, and even appeared on screen as a "G.I. Joe" animated character, further cementing his position as an icon of popular culture. He returned to WWE in 1990, playing the controversial role of an Iraqi sympathizer. It was during this time that he captured the WWE Championship from the Ultimate Warrior at the 1991 Royal Rumble and headlined WrestleMania VII against Hogan. Following his retirement from full-time competition, he spent some time as WWE Commissioner, and then went on to become one of the company’s most trusted and respected road agents, a position he continues to hold to this day.

This morning, while driving on the Bypass, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this individual crossing the very busy Highway. He was in the medium cutting grass when all of a sudden he took off across the road, not in an area in which I thought he'd be cutting.

As I was driving up towards his direction he was actually driving towards me in the shoulder pavement of the road???? Are these guys a part of SHA? With all the regulations out there towards safety, this guy was NOT following any of them, including common sense!

Life And A Can Of Beer

LIFE AND A CAN OF BEER

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar........and the beer.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions--things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else--the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house, and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The professor smiled.

"I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers."

More Information On The Wicomico County Humane Society

"Dr. Mr. Albero,

I was recently (a few months ago) included in an article about the Humane Society written by Joe Gidjunis of the Daily Times. Although we like Joe and found him to be a nice person, it was more than obvious that his article had been subject to severe censorship. Needless to say, the article was very disappointing. Linda Lugo was given the last word and the article ended with her false account of what really happened in our case and casting a shadow on our reputation as "responsible animal owners."

I can tell you that we own a rabbit and two dogs, one of which was rescued locally. We spend hundreds of dollars a year on a modest income to care for our animals in vet bills and grooming. Our dogs live as family pets, sleeping indoors every night, receive heartworm and flea preventatives on schedule, never suffer a cold or hot day outside and are never subjected to abuse or neglect. Even our bunny lives indoors and runs free and interacts with our children daily.

What I find interesting about the comments written in the blogs is how many Lugo supporters use the defense of "responsible ownership," turning the table and making the complaints look like what is really happening is everyone else's fault but the Humane Society's. I can tell you that I personally was blatantly lied to by Linda Lugo herself as well as several of the other employees at the Humane Society, namely Tom (I wish I knew his last name). My interactions with Lugo were completely downhill from there. She is the rudest person I've ever had to deal with. She made several empty promises that to this day have yet to be filled. Her ability to spew lies says enough about her character.

We took our complaint to several different levels, Comegy's included. Our complaint went no where. We have gotten no closure in the matter. I guess we never will. I can only hope that the community's awareness be raised for the corruption taking place at the Humane Society. The average citizen has no idea. As avid animal lovers and supporters of rescue, I would never attempt to bash the Humane Society as an organization. We wish only that all animals that enter the doors be found loving homes. I can only hope that someday it will be run by someone with respect, compassion and a little more "people" skills than the current director. It's very sad to think about the people and funds she has lost with her poor attitude (read the blogs, there are a few!).

On one last note, I read another blog entry that discusses in detail the treatment of ringworm and other such common puppy issues. I have information about a case dealing with a litter of abandoned puppies. The litter was not caught all at once. The first half of the litter was turned into the Humane Society, under Linda Lugo's watchful eye. They were "humanely euthanized" for reasons (given by the Humane Society staff themselves) being ringworm. Interestingly enough, this was after another employee tried to lie about the puppies by saying they were nursing with their mother (note: the puppies were abandoned!). Later, Lugo tried to say that the puppies all had Parvo. At this point, it's important to discuss the second half of the litter. Though it took a few days to catch them all, the rest of the puppies were caught by a good Samaritan. One had died in the woods, most likely from anemia due to the fleas. The others were taken to the vet, treated for fleas, were taken home by the good Samaritan (who also footed the vet bill for the remaining four puppies). She kept them for a few weeks while they recovered and found them all loving homes where they still reside (she kept one "Lucky" puppy). Even more interesting, her vet informed her that if the puppies had Parvo, they would have long been dead, and since they were all together, feasting on the same thing, the litter as a whole would have perished.

My point in telling you all of this, we personally know of 4 cases (including our own) where the employees at the Humane Society have mishandled animals. We know of allegations (from others) that animals are walking out of those doors for money being pocketed by...... well, you can imagine the scandal if that were found to be true. It is my hope that there is an investigation surrounding the Humane Society. For the sake of the animals losing their lives unnecessarily, we hope there is change brought to the Wicomico County Humane Society.

Thanks for your efforts to bring the corruption and lies at the Humane Society into the light for the public to see.
Sincerely,
Rae Murphy"

Dear Rae:

First of all, thank you for sending in this message. It should be known to everyone reading this particular article that I did get permission to publish it, including Rae Murphy's name at the end. It's VERY important people put their name to messages like this for credibility. Keep them coming Folks.

It looks like Internet marketers from around the world are concerned about my weight, health, home warranty, the size and durability of my, well you know, that my wife / lover is not satisfied or that I need a new lover or that my PC may be getting slowed down by virii from spam e-mails.

Maybe we need a new home mortgage or leads of people who responded to a spam e-mail offering a home mortgage. Then there must be a gazillion sources of "discounted drugs" whose prices all seem to be 10X higher than our local City Pharmacy.

Then there are the "political messages" from all kinds of wacked out groups, the one from our State Senator somehow got tagged as spam, all the political town hall meetings, on-line of course. Then there are the people either trying to "protect me" from terrorists or who may think I am one doing something 'bad' on facebook and need to be warned about the FBI.

This came in after deleting the ones above and writing a few lines but it reminds me:

Problems with plastic money? We can help

Who does not have problems with plastic money? Heck there is no such thing unless they mean my credit cards, which brings us to the blog spams:

I won't even get into posting the porn spam names because they are offensive to even look at while deleting them.

The drag is sometimes posts go into our spam catcher and I find about 3 to 5 legitamite posts or responses mixed in with all the garbage.

From the tone of the internet advertising one can borrow money to bet at an on-line casino to pass the time while waiting for your credit card to come in the mail along with the life and wang extending drugs to please the lady who wants a man age 18 to 53 looks not important that reminded me we chatted last night and set it all up.

If you posted a comment to the blog and did not see it or think we edited it, sorry thats not our policy. We have been getting sometimes as many as 200 spam "post responses" an hour and I just hit the delete all button.

If we missed anything, besides that offer to deposit $3 to $30 million in my bank account or winning the e-mail lottery or "Dear Blessed Child of God" whom I trust with my departed husband assistant to former president of __________... Please let me know and post your comments here, hopefully it won't get caught in our spam filter.

SPD Positive Experience

Good Morning Joe,

I just wanted to tell you a positive experience that I had with the SPD
yesterday morning. I took all my children to the Boundless Playground in
Salisbury yesterday. I know that some of my fellow Mom friends have issues
with Boundless because of the homeless, drunks and drug dealings that go on
at there and are very leery about taking their kids there to play. Although,
I have never had a run in with either of these types of people, but I have
occasionally see them walk through. I noticed a SPD car ride by and he
stopped got out and walked over to the pavilion to check out what he thought
was one of the above lying down on the bench. What he didn't know was it was
my 17yr old daughter doing what she does best, because heaven forbid she
partake in activities that involve swings or slides..lol. He came around to
speak with us and wanted to make sure there wasn't anything going on,
especially while the children were playing. We all had a good chuckle out of
the situation, but what really matters is he took the time to not just ride
by, but get out and walk over. It really meant a lot that he was checking. I
know myself and my friend feel a lot safer going over to that playground. I
really wish I had gotten his name, so I wanted to give a special thanks to
him. I will also be able to let my other friends know it's ok to play there.

Thanks,
Trish

Maryland State Trooper Todd Is A Wreck

There was a recent article in the Daily Times about a Maryland State Trooper getting in an accident around 3:00 AM two weeks ago. Considering I knew the person he hit and admitted the Trooper was at fault, the more I learned about Trooper Todd's accident history.

First of all, let me start by saying, yes, this is the Son of Worcester County States Attorney Joel Todd. Secondly, Trooper Todd has allegedly been in 7 automobile accidents in the past 14 months. Of those 7 accidents, only one was rated not preventable, he hit a deer.

OK, if you think that's a bad track record, I'm also told Trooper Todd has also been in an additional 3 accidents in his personal vehicle in the same 14 month period as the on the job accidents.

This guy needs to be driven around in a limo for the safety of the Citizens of the Eastern Shore of Maryland! I heard through the grapevine after this last accident this particular Trooper may in fact lose his job because he simply cannot drive.

Who Needs You Anyway!

While these two Ocean City Towing Company vehicles were Downtown yesterday, perhaps people are tired of the service they're receiving locally and they're now depending on service from outside the area?

What I can tell you is, when this woman broke down, two gentlemen immediately came to the rescue in what felt like 100 degree heat and helped this woman into a local parking lot some 200 yards from where she broke down.

That's what I'm talking about Folks. I no sooner looked out my side window and these guys were pushing her along almost as fast as they could run. They hit the curve and once they got around the corner, momentum took over and she was able to cruise right into the parking lot.

So here's a hat tip to two fine gentlemen assisting a woman in need!

Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Irrigation Water at Mexican Farm

Remember a couple of weeks ago you couldn't get any tomatoes on your burgers or in the store?
Well American Tomato Farmers remember!
The Salmonella scare brought the growing, packing, shipping, buying and selling of tomato's in North America to a stand still.
Tomato Growers across the country were punished by not being able to sell their tomato's, thus incurring a huge financial blow to their industry.
Many growers complained that the standards set forth by the Dept. of Ag. and safe food handling rules including strict irrigation policies virtually eliminated American tomato growers as being suspect. Yet their crops were also included in the lock down placed on the sales of the crop last month.
Now, it turns out that the source of the Salmonella has been traced to the irrigation water of a Mexican farm.
Globalism isn't working folks!
American Farmers suffered needlessly!
We pay millions of dollars in taxes to finance agencies to protect our health on products that this country produces, and our companies go through the extra effort to be compliant.
Yet, it doesn't take long to figure out that if they move their companies across the borders the same regulations do not apply in other countries.
Countries that we daily import our fruits and vegetables from regularly use pesticides and herbicides that were long ago banned in the US. But we expose ourselves to these chemicals each and everyday when we go to the store and purchase these picture perfect vegetables.
If you have ever had your own backyard garden, some of your vegetables and fruits will do just fine, while others just don't look like they do in the stores. The reason is because there are a lot of little critters out there that will wreak havoc on a backyard garden plot if you don't apply certain things at certain times (whether organic or chemical).

We are daily contributing to bankrupting our own country by allowing these policies brought about through NAFTA to continue.
Strawberries from God knows where in February is wonderful, however, what price are we willing to pay for this luxury.

Question of the Day, Thur 7/31

What was your first car?

Year? Make? Model? Color?

Did you buy it? Did your parents buy it? What ever happened to the car? (wreck/fire/blowup) Did you like your first car?

The Stand Pipe

The Tilghman Times continues to go on a rant for Mayor Barrie Tilghman promoting the immediate need to remove or renovate the aging structure. Notice in their article how they strongly push the urgency of having this done. Want to know why? Because it must be done before Barrie gets out of office and that's the ONLY reason why. Barrie Tilghman will push items like this and PAC 14 BEFORE her rear end hits the doors on her way out.

Perhaps every property owner with tall trees should have their trees inspected to see if it could fall onto a neighboring property and cause damage as well? Heck, one look at the Downtown Parking Garage structure would put me in more fear then this old structure possibly falling onto a parking lot!

Keep your engineer buddies in business, is Barrie Tilghman's goal. $6,000.00 to do another study? How's that study on the Downtown Plaza working for you Barrie? In my opinion, it's all about the North Prong and her ultimate goal to get everyone out of that end of the river. Buy the land cheap, throw up condos and whatever else she could have ties to and or help support her friends to rebuild yet another area of the City as cheap as humanly possible. More importantly, get rid of the expensive stuff at taxpayers expense BEFORE she leaves Office.

You tell me Folks, what's the urgency all of a sudden? Am I on the right track?

The Webster v Albero Saga Ends

As noted on Salisbury News, the lawsuit brought by Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster against Salisbury News publisher Joe Albero has been settled hours before the trial was due to begin in Snow Hill. Albero could not comment other than to refer me to the lead of his post:

"The Parties have resolved their disagreement on non-monetary terms."
Given that the settlement is on non-monetary terms and there was no mea culpa from Albero, it is a safe conclusion that he did not initiate the agreement. We can only speculate as to why Webster would settle this late in the game.

I guess that only Albero and his ever growing army of Joeys are happy over this one.

Perhaps Webster had assumed (or been promised) that the Salisbury taxpayer would pick up his legal fees. Miles & Stockbridge doesn't come cheap.

Given the current political climate in Salisbury -
  • Tax increases
  • Water & Sewer rate increases
  • A Mayor on her last legs
  • A Councilman who is a mayoral wanna-be
it's a pretty safe bet that the taxpayers of Salisbury will be saved from this bill.

What has Webster gained? NOTHING. Albero doesn't call people "Idiot!" as much, but Albero, and tangentially, I are more responsible for that than the Webster suit.

What has Webster (and Barrie Tilghman) lost? A fair amount. This is one of the few times that someone has stood up to the bullying ways of the Tilghman administration. Albero walked away intact - minus some legal fees.

Now Tilghman and her cronies are minus on of their most important tools - INTIMIDATION. What will happen when people realize that there really isn't much that she can do to harm them?

Can we expect more outspoken opposition? I can only hope!

We need to remember that Barrie Tilghman's lawsuit is still out there. Unfortunately for the fascist ruler of Barrieland, her suit was weaker than Webster's. It will be interesting if she continues her jihad against one of those "Dirty, Rotten Bloggers". She may be in for a few surprises.

****************************
P.S. -
Can we expect an apology from Bill Duvall and the rest of the anti-Joeys? Don't hold your breath. Expect these purveyors of non-fact to continue beating the drum for Tilghman and then the real trial.

When it all goes away, you won't hear a peep from these folks. No one ever said that they were gracious.

Willie Nelson Plays Salisbury

It was an honor and a pleasure to have been invited to the Wicomico County Civic Center and take some shots of a Living Legend, Willie Nelson. Ladies & Gentlemen, I have to admit, this guy sounds exactly like he does on the Radio. For those who were fortunate enough to enjoy the show, they know what I'm talking about.

The Civic Center offers Shows like this fairly often and in many cases is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be in a smaller Arena. Man, I'll never forget some of the concerts in the old Capitol Center. Oh, some 25 years ago I went to a Steve Martin concert/performance and we had the cheap seats. He said, to all of you ALL the way in the back, it's time for my disappearing dime trick. YEAH RIGHT!

You get my point though. Here we are with incredible acts like Willie Nelson and the place wasn't fully packed? There was one hell of a crowd, don't get me wrong. Nevertheless, for those who went and enjoyed, you got your money's worth!

If the Civic Center keeps sending us the info on concerts coming up we'll keep you posted.

One Year Ago

It was one year ago when Christy Freeman was arrested for the death of three or four premature babies. It was a sad day on the Eastern Shore! I'm told by friends that they see her driving around all the time.

Poker Le PEW!

A 57 year old NYC man has filed a complaint with the New Jersey Casino Commission after he was bounced from a casino Tuesday night because of his offensive body odor.
Michael Wax, a limo owner, and frequent gambler at Borgata Hotel & Casino , was approached in the restroom by casino staff and informed that other players at his poker table had made complaints to management about how Wax smelled.
Wax, who also weighs in at a robust 440 lbs, admits that he did stink because he had been playing poker for SEVENTEEN straight hours and didn't have a chance to get home and bathe.Ummmm, Mr.Wax has more pressing problems than personal hygiene if he is gambling over two-thirds of a day away but I digress. He maintains that he asked for a free room to "freshen up" and was denied. He actually expected them to comp him a room!
Anyhow when he returned to his table, he was denied a seat and now he has not only filed a comlaint but he has said he wants an apology because they told him he stank in front of people.Borgata spokespersons would not comment on the matter.
Am I alone or does this guy need Gamblers Anonymous as bad as he needs a bath?

We Surpassed Our Record Day!

Gregory Wallace Kern Has An Infamous Past

Gregory Wallace Kern has more of a history than most ever knew. Gregory is the guy being charged with burning down the Dough Rollers in Ocean City.

However, Gregory was ALSO the guy who allegedly burned down the Bush's Chesapeake Inn several years ago. Many might ask, what's he doing roaming the streets today for then? Because the States Attorney who was handling the case at the time allegedly LOST THE FILE before the Trial and the guy got completely off! That's right, he walked!

Gregory lived above Melvin's Steak House at the time of the Dough Roller Fire and was on medication for having multiple personalities, mental illnesses. He was employed by Dough Rollers and quite frankly if I were Joel Todd, I'd be asking questions about the major HOOPERS fire in West Ocean City as well.

Nevertheless, you heard it here first Ladies & Gentlemen. You should see something in a couple of days elsewhere while they try to catch up with this information.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! WEBSTER V. ALBERO

"The Parties have resolved their disagreement on non monetary terms."

So if you planned on heading into Snow Hill today, don't waste your time. The case is no longer on the docket.

That's all I have to say Folks. You have a great day too.

39 Year Old Richard Wright Jr for Molesting 7-Year Old GirlWe just received a press release from the Worcester County Sheriff's Dept that they are looking for a 39-year old man "suspected" of molesting a 7-year old girl. This guy better hope and pray the cops get him before the family of the child whose innocence he stole.

After an investigation by Detectives from the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, with assistance by the Department of Social Services, and the Ocean City Police Department, Richard Wright Jr, was charged with sexually abusing a 7 year old female victim. Please do not use your tire iron, baseball bat or trusty shotgun on him with a group of angry and outraged parents, just call Corporal Siebert or the Sheriffs office at 410-632-1111.

Wicomico County Sheriff's Department Press Releases

Incident: Cocaine Possession with the Intent to Distribute
Date of Incident: 29 July 2008
Location: U.S. 13 S/B at Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Antonio E. Tyler, 33, Portsmouth. VA

On 29 July 2008 at 5:48 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle for following another vehicle too closely. Upon making contact with the occupants the deputy detected the odor of burning marijuana emanating from the passenger compartment of Tyler’s vehicle. The deputy initiated a search of the vehicle and had the occupants exit the vehicle. While speaking with the passenger, Antonio Tyler, the deputy observed that Tyler repeatedly appeared to be engaged in attempting to conceal something behind his back. The deputy searched Tyler and located a large bag that contained what the deputy recognized as cocaine and marijuana hidden in Tyler’s pants. The amount of cocaine later was determined to weigh over 110 grams. Because of the amount seized, Tyler was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Tyler was en route from New Jersey to the Chesapeake, VA area with the drugs.

Tyler was arrested and transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Wicomico County Detention Center where he was processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Tyler was held in the Detention Center in lieu of $75,000.00 bond.

Charges:
Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Importation of Cocaine into Maryland, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team will continue to proactively patrol our roads in their effort to combat the illicit drug trade. Because of their efforts, this is the third substantial seizure of illegal drugs this month.

Assisted Living Help?

"I have just recently started reading your blog. So I don't know if you have ever addressed this subject or not...I really enjoy the blog....

I am very frustrated and I know other people in a similar position. My elderly father, 89, lives in Salisbury in his own home. I live in Salibury with my husband. We have a small home and so does "dad" therefore, moving in with each other is not an option.

Not to mention "dad" likes to keep the temp. around 80 - 85 F and I would never be able to stand it that hot. I start sweating as soon as i get to his house. But it's his right to have the house the temp. he likes it. He also gets up very early, goes to bed very early and eats dinner around 4:30 p.m. Not our household schedule for sure.

My husband and I both work full time+ and will not be eligible to retire for some years. So even if dad was at our house, we are both gone all day and into the night at times. We have a very small family, so no help there either.

Increasingly over the last year or so his mental abilities have been declining and he was diagnosed with the beginning stages of alzheimers disease. His Dr. (who is wonderful) put him on a somewhat new medicine that has made a tremendous improvement in his logical thinking and improved his short term memory.

I go to his house every day and take him his meds. to make sure he gets them. I make sure he has a decent meal also and that things are ok. He also has diabetis, high blood pressure, thyroid disfunction etc. So his meds. are very important. He has a cleaning lady who is wonderful. She comes every Monday and cleans, changes beds etc. and cooks a nice meal with left overs already plated for the next two days.

I am increasingly concerned that every day when I go there he is going to be out of it and not able to stay by himself, yet he is not in need of a nursing home. Physically he is ok. He still cuts his grass, has a garden and is in his glory when he is working in his yard. I don't want to take that away from him. He still drives, but questionable how long or if he should be much longer.....Only goes to familiar places he's been going for years.

I want to plan for his and my future.....what resources are in our county for assisted living that don't cost over $5,000/month like mallard landing? My dad is a retired postal worker and while he has sufficient income to live nicely in his own home and has good health insurance, there is no way he can afford that. Plus, as I understand it, once your money is gone you have to leave Mallard Landing? I work for the State of Maryland and cannot afford that either. John B. Parsons staff seem nice, but the rooms are small and dark and not visually appealing. Not sure about the cost there.

Can you put this issue on your blog please? What have other people in this position done/found helpful? I am very anxious and feeling overwhelmed about this...... Thanks." "Mrs. Tom".

POLICE INVESTIGATE BICYCLE THEFTS

The Ocean City Police Department is investigating a series of bicycle thefts throughout town. From May 15th through July 28th, 78 bicycles have been reported stolen.

The majority of thefts have been concentrated in the south end of town. 5 have been reported in the Caine Woods area, 7 in the 94th Street area, and 9 in the 120th Street area.

In almost all of these thefts, the bicycles were not properly secured. Many were left in yards, on porches, automobile racks, or in unlocked bike racks.

Police are asking citizens to take the time to lock their bicycles properly. A good bike lock has proven to be a reasonable deterrent. Ocean City residents are able to register their bicycles with the Ocean City Police Department at no cost. They will be issued a sticker to put on their bikes. Information about this program is available on our website, www.ocpdmd.com.

Officers' investigations are often hampered by owners who do not know the serial numbers of their bikes. Officers are not able to enter these stolen bikes into the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) computer without a serial number. This lessens the chance that a recovered bike would be returned to its owner.

Anyone with information regarding these thefts is asked to call the OCPD Criminal Investigation Division at 410-723-6604.

The OCPD would like to remind citizens to contact police if any of their property is stolen. People often feel they don't want to bother the police with minor theft complaints, however, these incidents are important to us, and being aware of them could prove very helpful.

More Graffiti At Lowes

For more than a year now I have been posting photos of Graffiti at the Lowes that backs to NORTHWOOD Drive. Does that road sound familiar to you? That's the area in which they found the dead body of a woman two days ago.

If you'll also recall, at one point while one of the buildings was under construction and the glass was installed, someone came in there and busted out every single window in the building.

Possible Gangs have been making their mark in this exact area and it was prime for such crime. The Chief of the Salisbury Police Department wants to treat that area as if its County property, yet it's annexed into the City.

The signs have been there, the Pro Active Police Leadership has not.

Harvard Law Has Been Following The Webster V. Albero Case

Several months ago I received a letter from a Law Professor from Harvard Law School asking permission to follow this Lawsuit. I thought I'd also pass on this piece of information showing the WORLD has been following this case (those who were interested in Bloggers being sued) through THIS SITE. I just thought ALL of you should be aware of the magnitude and attention it has received.

Oh, make sure you scroll down to the Maryland Cases. Believe it or not, I was the very first Blogger in Maryland's History to be sued.

Flake & Campbell Introduce Anti-Earmark Amendment First Vote of the 2009 RePORK Card

Washington – Today, perennial anti-porkers Reps. Jeff Flake (AZ-06) and John Campbell (CA-48) will be unveiling an amendment to strip all pork projects out of the FY 2009 Military Construction-VA Appropriations Bill (HR 6599). The Club for Growth urges all members of Congress to support the amendment. We will be key-voting this amendment to be included in our congressional scorecard.

The $72.7 billion MilCon bill contains 103 member-requested earmarks worth $622 million. While many of these earmarks may be worthwhile, they are not subject to competitive bidding and oversight. In addition, the bill’s price tag is 14 percent larger than last year’s appropriations bill and 5 percent larger than the President’s request. “Supporting the Flake-Campbell amendment will constitute less than a 1 percent reduction in the bill’s total price,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “Surely Congress can muster up the courage to cut spending by less than 1 percent.”

The Flake-Campbell amendment marks the first anti-pork amendment of the FY 2009 appropriations season and will be included in the Club for Growth’s 2009 RePORK Card. Last year, the Club for Growth issued a RePORK Card, grading each congressman on his commitment to eliminating pork. Last year, only sixteen members received a perfect score of one-hundred percent. Hopefully, that number will increase this year. At the very least, we expect the 41 House members who have sworn off earmarks to support the Flake-Campbell amendment.

“With federal spending ballooning by the minute, Congress should be cutting back not spending more,” Mr. Toomey added. “If Democrats and Republicans want to live up to their promises of fiscal responsibility, they can start by voting for the Flake-Campbell amendment. We commend Reps. Flake and Campbell for introducing this important amendment, and urge all of congressional members to follow in the footsteps of these two taxpayer heroes.”

Speculators Trying to Buy Control of Food Supply

I found this blog while surfing and really enjoyed it this guy has got quite a sense of humor and offers lots of great articles on current events that affect our nation. ~Wymzie

George Washington’s Blog
Tuesday, July 29, 2008

According to the New York Times, Financial Times, and others, hedge funds and other investors are buying up farms, farmland, fertilizer, grain elevators, shipping equipment and other necessities for producing food.

Given the meltdown in the housing and financial sectors and the weakness in the U.S. economy, large investors figure that everyone has to eat, and so investing in food production is a sure thing.

That means that speculators will drive up food prices.

As Jim Hightower puts it: “By ‘owning structure,’ they mean centralizing control of food in the hands of financial manipulators who have only one crop in mind: fat profits.
Price? Aha! That’s what consolidation of farms and storage facilities is all about. If you can lock down production and stockpile the supply – you can control price. If corn prices are lower than what investors want them to be, simply store the corn and force prices up. Or, if corn prices are down in the U.S., ship it to Japan or wherever else might be more profitable. And if these distortments cause a food crash? Hey, the speculators will already have sucked out billions in profits, and they will just move to the next hot investment.

Hedge funds bring nothing but greed and grief to the farm economy and our food supply, and they should be banned from ‘owning structure.’”

Hightower may be right: we should demand that Congress prevent speculators from buying up one of the main necessities. Moreover, this just strengthens my conviction that we should guarantee our access to inexpensive and healthy food. See this and this.

Quotes of the Day...Today You Get Four; Because You Have Been Good

"In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they do not have a real enemy, they will invent one in order to mobilize us."~ Thich Nhat Hanh - Vietnamese monk, activist and writer.

"The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government."~ Thomas Jefferson
"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action." ~ George Washington
"Many are they who are touched at the heart by these things. those they sent forth they knew; now in place of the young men urns and ashes are carried home to the houses of the fighters.... Front Page News

LOOK, I'M SOMEBODY!

Although you cannot even FIND the story on line, they scrapped it from the Front Page Headline News completely, it is on the front page of their print edition.

Oh, as for a comment on the story, I have none, other than to say, GREAT ARTICLE! Perhaps the Daily Times should depend on this particular Reporter more often? He's factual, detailed and someone you can trust.

So, how many of you out there are dying to know what's going to happen today? Yahoo, Judgment Day Is Upon Us! Duvall must have his bottle of oxygen ready for the long trip to Worcester County for the do not miss trial of Joe Albero VS Chief Webster. Hell, I'd even guess he left at 6:30 AM this morning to insure he gets a good seat. You don't have to worry so much about getting up and down all that often, that's what they make Depends for. LOL

The Daily Times did a great article this morning and I should add, (I hope this doesn't come off like I'm sucking up) that has to be the finest Front Page I've ever seen from them. The Pony's should be left up top all year long, it's beautiful!

As for the rest of their news, well, you read it all here yesterday or a few days earlier anyway. I'd link you to my article but they pulled it from their Site. If anyone can find it, can you put it in comments and I'll update the article? Thanks!

Dear Mr. Billy Duvall, GO HERE.

NO SHA SUPERVISORS AT SITE

This morning during the early morning rush hour - 8:00 a.m. - look at time stamp on photo- I was enroute to Salisbury at the intersection of Tilghman Road and Rt. 50. Both lanes - eastbound and westbound on Rt. 50 were backed up as far as the eye could see.

When I heard the motorist beeping horns I looked and there were no flagmen, no SHA supervisors, to move the traffic along. I am not kidding, people were actually trying to back-up on the outside lanes, and, poor K-Marts parking lot was a turn-a-round zone for all of the Tilghman Road vehicles that were also backed-up. I got a photo of this so as to report that there were no SHA supervisors.

You would think that with State furnished vehicles that someone could at least go to work and do their job.

Politics

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'
Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The President.
Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.
We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.
Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.
He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.

So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.
Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room.
Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.
He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'
The father says, ' Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies, 'The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep.
The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep Shit .

Question of the Day, Wed 7/30

Do you believe in ghosts?

Have you ever seen a ghost? Has any of your family members ever seen a ghost?

If you had a ghost in your home, what would you do? Move? Ghostbusters?

Joe Albero Walks In & With Total Respect Mayor Tilghman Walks Out

That's right Folks. I no sooner walked into the Council Meeting, Barrie Tilghman gave me that LOOK, so I gave it right back and she packed her things and immediately left. Barrie knows, Joe Albero will NOT be bullied and for the first time in her entire spoiled life, she's met a man that will stand up to her bullsh!t and challenge her every word.

I wonder what it feels like to have all that control where almost every man on this earth bows down to her and then she runs into a man that clearly shows her I think she's completely full of sh!t, she knows it, wow, it must be really tough on her.

Nonetheless, I'm sorry to everyone that was there that I couldn't be there sooner to make the meeting go easier. I'll do better next time to be there earlier. Imagine the look on that woman's face if I were to be able to stand there and talk about the prostitutes her her presence? Remember when I said something about the Mayor and Comegys driving past these prostitutes each and every day?

I can see her pointer finger inside a glass filled with ice and Jack Dannel's, spinning the ice around while watching ME on PAC 14. Then the glass flies out of her hand and smashes on the fireplace and well, you get the picture. Who do you think was wearing the skirt and cleaning up the mess?

A Reader Writes In About The City Council Meeting

Hi, Joe,

Someone on your blog asked what happened at Monday night's council meeting. I saw you in public comment talking about the wrist slap those two SU students got for all the mayhem they caused in that neighborhood. That's a real shame. And about the prostitution going on near downtown. You did a good job, including that pat on the back to SPD.

Since you spoke at the meeting, I was surprised you didn't have any comment on it. Were you there for the whole thing? If not, I figured I'd give you mine, even though it was a really tame meeting. There weren't many items to discuss. Even some special presentation got pulled. The mayor did drink tap water for us. She gave certificates to water department people for Salisbury winning some tap water taste contest in the state. I don't think the taste is so special, but it was nice to see the "little people" get a little credit.

The night was so tame that even three public hearings had no one speak on the "who cares" topics. The only real exchange came over the gas contract for the WWTP. Mrs. Campbell asked some smart questions (as usual), and Mrs. Cohen offered an amendment to make something clear.

What made this kind of interesting was, #1, the lady attorney agreed with Mrs. Cohen and they had a bit of a laugh together. (Hint: Paul Wilber can stay home and let that lady be legal counsel!) Second, even though both Mrs. Cohen and Mrs. Campbell were brief in their comments (not even 5 minutes) because there really wasn't much to talk about, good ol' Louise Smith couldn't resist jumping in on Mrs. Cohen to tell her she was using up her second set of minutes to make her amendment.

Well, I learned something when Mrs. Cohen politely set Louise Smith straight that an amendment was a "debatable motion" and she would speak briefly to the MAIN "debatable motion" when they got back to it. In other words, Louise Smith was breaking her own rule already! Then Louise Smith couldn't even (again) keep what they were voting on straight!

If I didn't know better, I'd say Louise Smith purposely put together an itty-bitty meeting so it would look like her 5-minute rule was saving us all from the dreaded tedium of democracy .

And that's the point some firebrand of a lady (Last name Lloyd? She's been on once before.) made in public comment. Joe, that woman said everything so many of us are thinking. She called the three council members on the carpet for their lack of integrity in meeting without Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Cohen, on using anonymous calls to justify eliminating anonymous letters, and more. I kid you not! That lady nailed it! Damn, she's got guts!

The other public comments were good, too. The little Trader fellow was there with his usual reminders of things they are letting go for years. S.J. Disharoon (I remembered his name this time because Bob Caldwell just got up and said "Amen to what S.J. Disharoon said!) went down a long list of stupid ways the city spends our tax money. The public comments were really the meat of the night.

Sorry to go past my 5 minutes. Probably took me longer to write this than it took the meeting to run, LOL. But people ought to catch the replay on PAC14. I think they run Wednesday mornings. I know they often run the following Monday at 6 p.m. because I've had to catch a few on replay. I want to know if anyone else felt like I did that this was made intentionally short in an effort to make Louise Smith look good. Instead, she couldn't even run a short meeting well.

If you print any of this, please don't use my name. I'm not as brave as that one lady. Just sign me:

Tourists In Salisbury?

This was a first for me! Nevertheless, there were tourists visiting the Downtown Plaza but NOTHING was open!

What's Next For The Downtown Plaza?

While this Dog takes a dump on the Plaza, many people are concerned at the lack of attention the Plaza is getting.

Mayor Barrie Tilghman has blown smoke up every one's a$$ for years and many have completely fallen for her own version of bullsh!t. Nevertheless, there are investors and business owners suffering at her expense.

No, there was no bag to clean up this mess and quite frankly, they mainly water down the plants on the Plaza and that's about it. Oh, yes, they were watering the plants in the rain today. After all, their instructions were to do so and that's what they did.

Repubican Congressional Candidate Any Harris Visits Salisbury News

Congressional Candidate Andy Harris went out of his way yesterday to stop in to the new Salisbury News Facility at 300 W. Main Street in Downtown Salisbury. After spending a small fortune on interior upgrades, I'm pleased he waited until at least that was done. Next comes more furnishings but he really liked the place. Thanks for stopping by Andy and there's always a cold Root Beer or Water in the frig.

Best Buy Sucks Too!

A little over a year ago I bought a tower computer from Best Buy in Salisbury. The manufacturers warranty was one year. I purchased an extended warranty which picked up when the manufacturers warranty stopped. 3 weeks ago it showed a blue error screen so I took it to Best Buy for repair along wth all of the warranty paperwork. The "agent", a tall heavyset guy with blonde hair and glasses named Dan, advised me that the error code meant that the RAM was defective and needed to be replaced. He stated that it couldn't be repaired at the store and would have to be shipped to the Service Center in Kentucky. Not being a computer guru, I asked if I would need to have the hard drive backed up. He stated that the hard drive would not be touched, it was the RAM that was the problem. He told me that he would send it off and it would be back in 2 weeks. At the end of two weeks I received a phone call that it was finished and that I could come pick it up. Upon my arrival I talked to another "agent" who advised me that the hard drive had been replaced. I immediately felt sick to my stomach as I had over a years worth of files, estimates, saved data, not to mention the fact that I had a professional come into my office to wirelessly network all of the other computers together. I aasked if the service center had transferred the data from the old hard drive to the new one. NO! The "agent" advised me that he would send the service center an e-mail asking them to hold my hard drive until the situation was resolved. He stated that there was no way to contact them by phone - only e-mail. The following day I received a call from "agent" Ricket from Kentucky. She advised me that they had in fact put my hard drive aside and that they retrieve the data for me.......for a fee of $260.00 minimum. It would be more if the amount of data exceeded 9 megs. Agent Ricket advised me that she would call the Salisbury Store and that it was ALWAYS an option for them to call the service center but everyone doesn't know that. She stated that if the Salis. store was willing to pay for the recovery they would start right away. She stated that the Salis. store should agree to pay for it since I asked if I should have had it backed up before it was sent.

A short time later she called me back and advised me the the manager at the Salis. store would not pay for the recovery because he didn't believe that any of his employees would advise me not to back up my hard drive.

Today I went back to the store and spoke with a "different" manager who advised me that he was authorized by "his" manager that he would pay for half of the difference between what their service center would charge and what Brainwave would charge. I went to Brainwave who stated that the cost to retreive the data would be...................$85.50 regardless of the amount. Even better.......Brainwave would have replaced the hard drive, recovered the data, and installed the data on the new hard drive for about $200.00.

I don't mind paying the $85.50 since I would have had to pay it anyway. But the fact is that the Geek Squad is SCAMMING EVERYONE. What was the point in paying for the extended warranty? I'm supposed to go in and speak to the managers managers managers manager tommorrow to try to work this out. (How the hell many managers does one place need anyway?) I can't imagine how much this fiasco is going to cost me before it's all over.

My first mistake was buying from a chain store and expecting good service. My second mistake was getting the extended warranty from a chain store. I should have kept my business with a locally owned company who could have fixed my computer at that location within a few days. I guess I was trying to be penny wise and ended up being dollar foolish. Go to Brainwave for all your computer issues folks - avoid those chain stores like the plague.
