EXCLUSIVE! SHOTS FIRED IN HEBRON

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Department was doing routine neighborhood patrols in Hebron this afternoon and knocking on some doors to see if anyone had see or heard anyone stealing Long & Foster signs.

One Deputy went to a residence, (I was there) where the owner opened the door and their Pit Bull/Mix broke loose from the owner and started attacking the Deputy. After being bit, the Deputy was able to kick the dog off of him, he spun around and came back to attack him again.

Unfortunately, in fear of his life, the Officer was forced to shoot the animal and he was killed. I have to tell you Ladies & Gentlemen, each and every Officer there was heartbroken. There simply was no choice.

Considering the circumstances, I did not take pictures. The Officer is at PRMC as we speak and this happened some time after 4:00 PM today.

  1. so if people get killed in a car accident, you take all sorts of pictures of the scene. if a dog is killed after attacking an officer, you don't take pictures. your standards are screwed up.

  7. Joe, Keep doing what you do! You should get paid for your time.....
You should tell an officer to check the weirdo on the corner at the body shop. I used to be friends with him a few years back, and he would brag about doing stupid shit. He even bragged about taking 2 signs from 2 pieces he was looking at so know one else could get a shot at them. He got weird, so I cut all ties with him. I would be willing to bet he has something to do with it.

  11. I am beyond upset by the comments on this page. I cannot believe that a police officer doing his duty being attached by a dog. (trained by a demented person obviously) has illicited such comments, from citizens having their freedoms protected and paid for by taxpayers. I am sick to my stomach, are there really people who would say such things against Joe, nd the police? I cannot believe it. Really. I am shocked and saddened.

  12. FYI The officer is doing fine. Luckily, he had on boots - the tops of which kept him from being severly bitten on his ankle and calf. However, he did sustain enough of a bite on his leg to have to endure the usual round of shots at the hospital. This is an outstanding officer and an all around great person. He has been shaken by this experience and feels terrible about what he had to do.

As 5:46 said, good thing it wasn't a girl scout at the door !!!
