Romney’s Bain Capital Profited Billions by Bankrupting American Workers

Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-UT) investment firm Bain Capital profited billions between 1992 and 1997 by collecting huge dividends for investors that eventually resulted in layoffs for thousands of American workers.

In 1984, Romney helped co-found Bain Capitol, which made a series of investments in small and medium-sized American companies, only to turn a profit for investors and leave American workers without a job.

Most prominent are five companies that Romney’s Bain Capital invested in, reaping a profit for himself and investors, and then left to bankruptcy, layoffs, and closure. AOL Finance reported in 2012 on the financial devastation that Romney’s Bain Capital put American workers through.

U.S. to Spend $700,000 on Eswatini’s “National Condom Strategy”

The U.S. government will spend more than half a million dollars to provide residents of a tiny, poverty-stricken African nation with condoms. The money, $700,000, will help fund a National Condom Strategy launched by the Ministry of Health in Eswatini, a landlocked south African country smaller than New Jersey. Until recently Eswatini was known as Swaziland but its tyrannical ruler, King Mswati III, changed it so the country could break with its colonial past.

Estwatini is Africa’s only absolute monarchy and most of its population of about 1.4 million lives in poverty with the world’s highest rate of AIDS and HIV. King Mswati however, leads an openly posh lifestyle and has15 wives, according to an African news report that lists all their names. The king has an annual budget of $61 million, owns two private jets and several fancy cars, including a $625,000 Rolls Royce and a $500,000 Maybach 62. He is also a renowned violator of human rights who has been blasted by various international groups over the years. Just last month Eswatini’s National Commissioner of Police announced that social media critics of the king will be hunted down and arrested. Around the same time, human rights advocates were arrested for denouncing King Mswati’s oppressive, dictator-like policies.

BACKFIRE: 'I Will Never Vote Democrat Again,' Say Angry Dems on C-SPAN After Pelosi's Tantrum

This is the most satisfying video series you'll see all day. After Pelosi and her White Witches threw their little fits of rage last night at the SOTU, they felt very smug about themselves. Their voters, on the other hand, felt differently. It turns out that most Americans think you should stand up and clap for the good things that happen in America instead of sulk and pout on your butt like a spoiled child.

C-SPAN asked people to call in and give their opinions on the SOTU. What happened after that was brilliant. "I'm a Democrat, but I no longer will vote Democrat," said one caller. "I think it's outrageous that they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country. And they looked like they hated our country...It's outrageous and I will never vote Democrat again." She went on to say that all her family voted for Hillary last time but this time they will never vote for a Democrat again.

But she wasn't the only one. A man called in and said, "Let me put it this way, I've been a Democrat for 70-some years and what I saw tonight was appalling to me...it was very disrespectful to this president and I didn't vote for him...but that man is the president and we should respect him." He continued, "What I've seen tonight of the Democrat party, I am changing my mind...I'll probably stay home. I'm embarrassed being a God-danged Democrat for what they did in the House today." Then he had me rolling on the floor with this. "They looked like a bunch of dadgum idiots sitting there." Hear, hear!

Marijuana breathalyzer technology is here, and it’s coming for drivers

Marijuana users have a new reason to think twice before getting behind the wheel.

Marijuana technology is ready to hit the market as more states legalize medical and recreational use. And, when the technology debuts, it will make it easier for police to put the brakes on impaired drivers.

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh admit a blood test is still considered the 'gold standard' for testing for marijuana. Other drug testing methods rely on urine or hair. But, the researchers hope their new technology will now help police identify impaired drivers in the field through the breath. And, in the future, with further development, they believe the technology could possibly help states research and set limits for impairment.

Column: Impeachment Dies in Desperation

As the Trump impeachment effort inevitably burns out on the ash heap of history, Democrats are left to argue that if this president is left unchecked, if he’s not removed from office, he’ll “do it again.” He’ll pressure foreign governments to investigate the business dealings of the Bidens, which is a “threat to national security."

National security equals no questioning of the Bidens. Democracy equals removing an elected president.

A typical outburst came from CNN’s appointed presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, who warned acquittal means “the country has a president who operates as an outlaw.....Acting in a demagogic way and acting in a dictatorial way, trying to smash the foreign policy establishment, diss our intelligence gatherers, operating in a whole new way of an imperial president that we couldn’t have imagined.”

DHS suspends Global Entry, Trusted Traveler Programs for New York residents in response to sanctuary law

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf exclusively told Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Wednesday that DHS was immediately suspending enrollment in Global Entry and several other Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) for all New York state residents — a dramatic move in response to the liberal state's recently enacted sanctuary "Green Light Law."

The sweeping order came a day after President Trump, in his State of the Union address, condemned left-wing states and local governments that "release dangerous criminal aliens to prey upon the public," and called on Congress to pass a law establishing civil liability for sanctuary cities.

In a letter to top New York state officials obtained exclusively by Fox News, Wolf noted that the New York law prohibited Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) agencies across the state from sharing criminal records with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Republicans aim to expunge Trump impeachment if they retake House

Republicans hope to expunge the House's impeachment of President Trump if they retake the House in 2020.

As the Senate impeachment trial of Trump reaches its end on Wednesday with a likely acquittal, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said the GOP lawmakers in the lower chamber will try to wipe Trump's record clean.

“This is the fastest, weakest, most political impeachment in history. I don’t think it should stay on the books," McCarthy told the New York Post on Wednesday. If Republicans retake the House, McCarthy said investigating the Democrats' handling of impeachment would be among their top priorities in the next session on Congress.

Crash between pickup and rollback leaves one dead

The driver of a 2000 S10 Chevy pickup was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Berlin around 7 a.m. Thursday, when the pickup collided with a large rollback truck at the intersection of Routes 113 and 818 just south of town.

The deceased was identified as Johnie Derrickson of Parsonsburg, 73. The other vehicle, a 2017 Freightliner rollback tow truck, which was traveling south on Route 113 was driven by Robert Kressman, 58, of New York. Kressman was not injured in the collision and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The Berlin Police Department, along with assistance from the Worcester County Sheriff’s office, Maryland State Police, Berlin Fire Company, Office of the Fire Marshal, State Highway Association and Commercial Vehicle Department and the Medical Examiner’s office were on the scene, closing off southbound Worcester Highway during the accident.

Lawmakers File Ethics Complaint, Resolution Condemning Pelosi For Ripping Up Speech

Multiple lawmakers indicated on Wednesday that they were taking action against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for ripping up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address last night.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wrote on Twitter: “BREAKING: I’m filing an ethics complaint against @SpeakerPelosi for destroying @realDonaldTrump’s State of the Union speech. Her conduct was beneath the dignity of the House, and a potential violation of law (18 USC 2071). Nobody is above the law. She must be held accountable.”

In a letter addressed to Ethics Committee Chairman Ted Deutch (D-FL), Gaetz requested that the Committee open an investigation “into Speaker Pelosi’s flagrant violation of decorum, as defined in clauses 1 and 2 of House Rule XXIII, and request a criminal referral for her potential violation of 18 U.S.C. §2071 (Concealment, removal, or mutilation of documents), following President Trump’s recent State of the Union address of February 4, 2020. Her unseemly behavior certainly warrants censure.”

Grand Jury Issues Child Porn Indictment; Five Felony Counts For Distribution Included

SNOW HILL — A Worcester County grand jury last week indicted an Ocean City man on 55 counts of possession and distribution of child pornography following a long investigation dating back to 2017.

Jarrett John Wise, 52, was indicted last week by a Worcester County grand jury on five counts of felony distribution of child pornography and 50 total counts of possession of child pornography. Last summer, a Maryland State Police trooper executed a search warrant at Wise’s Ocean City home and seized a computer.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued and served last Thursday. Wise was held initially without bond. However, following a bail review hearing on Monday, he was released after posting a $25,000 bond.

The charges against Wise date back as early as October 2017 including the felony counts of distribution of photographs of a minor engaged in sexual conduct. The indictment also includes 50 counts of possession of photographs depicting an individual under age 16 engaged in sexual conduct, possession of videos depicting an individual under age 16 engaged in sexual conduct and possession of visual representations of an individual under the age of 16 engaged in sexual conduct.

Out of the impeachment, into the fallout

The acquittal of President Donald Trump ended his impeachment trial Wednesday the way it always appeared it would, but the battle’s lasting fallout is just beginning for congressional power, the nation’s political landscape and ongoing legal fights between Trump and House Democrats.

The Senate voted 48-52 to reject the House’s abuse of power charge and 47-53 to reject the obstruction of Congress charge.

The trial’s ultimate result was never seriously in doubt, since at least 20 Republicans would have needed to cross Trump and party lines to get the supermajority of 67 votes needed to convict him for abuse of power or obstruction of Congress. Most of the drama ended with a 49-51 vote last week to reject a motion to subpoena more witnesses and documents.

Ted Cruz: How can Democrats run healthcare if they can't count votes in Iowa?

GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz expressed his frustration with the delay in announcing the results of the Iowa caucuses by asking how Democrats will be "in charge of our healthcare" if they aren’t able to count votes.

“Dems, right now, they can’t stand in a gymnasium and count who stands under which sign, and they’re the ones who want to be put in charge of our healthcare and everything else in our life,” the Republican told Fox & Friends.

“I mean, these are the socialist candidates who say, 'We know best; trust us to run your life.' Well, guys, how about figure out how to count your votes first?” he added.

Martin Luther King Jr.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ … I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. … And if America is to be a great nation this must become true.” —Martin Luther King Jr.
Despite the fact that the Democrat Party claims King’s legacy, and Democrats argue they are the sole protectors of his “dream,” they have turned this iconic sovereign’s message upside down, as if King had said, “I have a dream that my children will one day be judged by the color of their skin, not the content of their character.” They’ve converted it from a dream into a nightmare, and their failed statist “Great Society” programs have enslaved generations of poor, mostly black Americans on urban poverty plantations.

But poor blacks have been a staple constituency, having been inculcated with the belief that they are perpetual “victims of injustice” who must depend on their Democrat masters to take care of them.

King’s 1963 address from the Lincoln Memorial was his most famous, but you have likely never read King’s 1966 assessment of racial violence in Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago:

“This is the most tragic picture of man’s inhumanity to man. I’ve been to Mississippi and Alabama and I can tell you that the hatred and hostility in Chicago are really deeper than in Alabama and Mississippi.” King added, “Those who are associated with ‘Black Power’ and black supremacy are wrong.”

Beyond Burnout: Docs Decry ‘Moral Injury’

Dr. Keith Corl was working in a Las Vegas emergency room when a patient arrived with chest pain. The patient, wearing his street clothes, had a two-minute exam in the triage area with a doctor, who ordered an X-ray and several other tests. But later, in the treatment area, when Corl met the man and lifted his shirt, it was clear the patient had shingles. Corl didn’t need any tests to diagnose the viral infection that causes a rash and searing pain.

All those tests? They turned out to be unnecessary and left the patient with over $1,000 in extra charges.

The excessive testing, Corl said, stemmed from a model of emergency care that forces doctors to practice “fast and loose medicine.” Patients get a battery of tests before a doctor even has time to hear their story or give them a proper exam.

“We’re just shotgunning,” Corl said.

The shingles case is one of hundreds of examples that have led to his exasperation and burnout with emergency medicine. What’s driving the burnout, he argued, is something deeper — a sense of “moral injury.”

Rush Limbaugh critics celebrate cancer diagnosis

Several liberal activists and media personalities on Twitter expressed glee after conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show that he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

“Ask yourself this simple question: is the world a better place or a worse place with Rush Limbaugh in it?” author and former CNN personality Reza Aslan said in response to the news.

“Rush Limbaugh is, without a doubt, one of the most hateful, awful people of the last half century, and one who had one of the most negative impacts possible on this country. It’s only fitting that this cancer upon the world should be stricken by it,” former Sports Illustrated writer Jon Tayler said on Twitter.

Liberal White Women Pay $2,500 To Be Lectured About How Racist They Are

Liberal white women across America are paying $2,500 to attend dinners at which they are lectured by two non-white women about how racist they are.

The Guardian reports on Race to Dinner, a scheme where co-founders Regina Jackson, who is black, and Saira Rao, who “identifies” as Indian-American, make white guilt-riddled rich white women admit to their subconscious bigotry.
“Recently, I have been driving around, seeing a black person, and having an assumption that they are up to no good,” said Alison Gubser.

“Immediately after I am like, that’s no good! This is a human, just doing their thing. Why do I think that?”
Maybe she’s been reading too many FBI crime statistics.

Romney’s Entire Career Has Been About Punishing Republicans For Voting For Him

In a recent interview with McKay Coppins of The Atlantic, Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah said he would vote to convict President Donald Trump on the impeachment article alleging abuse of power, but not on the article alleging obstruction of Congress.

“This has been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life,” Romney told Coppins yesterday afternoon. Romney is the only Republican who voted to convict on any of the articles of impeachment.

Romney’s decision was terrifically predictable, and given his vote did not swing the results in either direction, the gravitas that he already assigned to his decision — in the form of two interview “exclusives” — seems a bit theatrical and self-indulgent. There’s an unshakeable self-satisfaction that Romney exudes when he goes on heavy-headed tours, demarcating to the adoring left how he is decidedly different from all the other GOP members.

Yes, he’s different from many others within the GOP in the sense that he has no firm principles upon which to base his political decisions besides self-interest and self-importance. He is vaguely in favor of free markets insofar as he appreciates a pro-business environment, having been a businessman once. But that seems to be the extent of his political personality.

Don Trump Jr. blasts former Democratic senator for mocking Ben Carson in MAGA hat

Donald Trump Jr. criticized former Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill after she mocked Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson for kneeling in the aisle during a photo opportunity.

"Hi Claire, Two problems with your tweet:

1. Dr. Ben Carson did not have a seat in this pic because he was sitting in First Class with my family

2. Dr. Carson is not a 'thing,' he is a world renowned, life-saving neurosurgeon," the president's son tweeted on Tuesday. "Anyway, how's unemployment?"

McCaskill, 66, tweeted earlier on Tuesday, "One of these things is not like the others. Hint: they made him squat in the aisle so he was visible." She attached a picture of prominent Republicans wearing MAGA hats, which included Carson.

Boom: Record January gun background checks, 2020 set to make history

The 2020 presidential race is already weighing on the minds of gun owners who flocked to gun stores to load up in January.

The FBI reported today that January saw a record of 2,702,702 background checks, which closely track gun sales and requests for concealed carry permits.

That broke the last January record of 2,545,802, set in 2016, when Democrat Hillary Clinton, who advocated a gun ban, was starting her march to White House, only to be foiled by NRA-endorsed Donald Trump.

U. of Montana Faces Leftist Uproar After White Student Wins MLK Essay Contest

The University of Montana is facing criticism from leftists around the country after a white student won the university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day essay contest. According to the school, only white students participated in this year’s contest.

According to a report by the College Fix, the University of Montana is facing criticism over its decision to name a white student as the winner of its Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest. The university has defended itself by criticizing those who have argued that white students should not be permitted to write essays promoting equality and justice.

There is another problem with the position of the university’s critics. Although the essays were reviewed by a panel of both white and black judges, only white students submitted essays.

Despite this, Facebook users were quick to criticize the University of Montana over the outcome of the essay contest.
