I Didn’t Vote For Trump In 2016, But I’d Crawl Over Broken Glass To Vote For Him Now By David Sound

I don't care about the tone of his tweets nor if his opponents think he's rude. I've seen that he is a patriot who genuinely loves the United States of America and its people.

Even though I had voted for every Republican presidential candidate since 1980, I didn’t vote for Donald Trump in 2016.

I couldn’t imagine Trump as a genuine conservative who would champion limited government, respect individual freedom and liberty, and protect the unborn — but was I ever wrong.

In 2016, I was convinced Trump was just another New York liberal. On election night, however, I smiled. I was happy that at least Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be president, and I suspected that the next four years with Trump would at least be entertaining.

By the time Trump took office, I was willing to give him a chance. He was the president, after all, and deserved the opportunity to prove himself. During the first year of his presidency, I was impressed by his commitment to keeping his campaign promises, unlike most politicians. By the end of 2017, I classified myself as a Trump supporter because of what he had already done as president.

Trump’s list of first-term accomplishments has been truly impressive:
  • Building the strongest U.S. economy in my lifetime through historic business and personal tax cuts, resulting in millions of jobs created and record-low unemployment
  • Cutting federal government regulations that had a stranglehold on American business innovators and entrepreneurs
  • Confronting China’s trade abuses and negotiating fair trade deals with Canada, Mexico, South Korea, and Japan
  • Eliminating the Obamacare individual mandate
  • Rebuilding our military through investments in our defense capabilities as well as securing the largest military pay raise in a decade
  • Nominating and confirming more solid conservative circuit court judges than any other first-term administration
  • Nominating and fighting for the confirmation of two originalists, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, to the Supreme Court and then nominating Amy Coney Barrett to fill the vacancy left by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and then brokering the Abraham Accords peace deal between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain
  • Consistently fighting Democrats to build the wall to secure our southern border, reinforcing and repairing hundreds of miles, with more construction on the way
This is just a brief summary of the Trump administration’s accomplishments. In addition, Trump has been the most pro-life president in U.S. history.

I misjudged Trump in 2016, but I will do everything I can to see that he is re-elected in 2020 — and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

    2. Trump beat covid before I finished cleaning my garage. Trump is the man and communist China will pay for unleashing a lab created virus to the world right before election and signing a deal with USA. Doesn’t take Scotland Yard to see that one.

  3. Well I voted for him in ‘16 because I liked his tweets and didn’t consider him rude. After all he is dealing with rude resistance. I wish him well and plan on voting for him in ‘20. Vote early and vote often my friends.

  4. My sentiments exactly. And to your point of being entertaining - he certainly has been that. It's been refreshing actually to hear someone speak in a down to earth manner rather than the stuffed shirt politician who all seem to say the same thing.
God Bless Donald Trump and God Bless the USA.

  5. Nope...not then only one. Sad though that the establishment has remained silent since they are old school, their time is short and scared to verbally agreed or disagree with leadership. 21st Century and within 4 more elections Congress will be very different and a smart mindset is needed for all.

  6. Trump was the first Republican I have ever voted for in 2016 and I will do it again. I thought to myself before the 2016 election did I really want to vote for a non-politician, a tycoon businessman for President and Chief of our Armed Services and it was the right thing. He has done more for our country than any other president in my lifetime, I wish he could keep the position for even longer than another 4 years.

  8. I love this article that shows how people misjudged Trump and that with this election they are now with him.

But I am confused. Did these folks not vote at all or did they vote for Hillary? And, if they voted for Hillary I wonder how they judged her.

Same today. Those who now say they did vote for Trump but now they will vote for Biden. How are they judging Biden who says:

I will repeal the Trump tax cuts. But I won't raise your taxes.
I am against the wall. Are they going to remove it?
I am for a woman's right to choose. In the 9th month?
I would not nominate an originalist judge. So how much power should the court have to set policy.

  11. Since I first began voting in 1966, EVERY politician in EVERY voting year has said the exact same thing, and not a thing gets done.
Better schools, cleaner inner cities, better pay for the low-and-middle classes, more opportunities, lower drug prices, etc., etc., etc.
It got so ridiculous that I just stopped voting altogether. You weren't voting for policies any longer: You were just voting for some guy to get a job.
Trump had done everything he promised - and more!
I might not want to have a beer with the guy, but I do want him running this country.
He's a fighter. He can't be bought. He keeps promises.
I'm a lifelong Democrat - but I'm solid behind Trump. I'll vote this time.

  12. Judging by the polls the national IQ average has dropped since our last election. This is not a replay of 2016 because by this time Trump was showing signs of life. Why would people give up the tax breaks and advantages Trump has given us? Craziest thing I've ever seen.
