The Anne Arundel County school board passed a plan Tuesday that will allow for the return of sports.
The two-semester plan will have sports practices resuming Oct. 19, with each season having four weeks of practice starting with fall sports.
Groups of 50 student-athletes would stay together and there would be no extensive contact.
The competitive season will start with winter sports on Feb. 1, 2021 and each season would have five weeks of competition. The seasons will end on June 19, 2021.
There will be two in-person practices and one virtual session per week per sport. The board also strongly encouraged the addition of inter-scholastic school scrimmages.
Sports? How? There's no money.
ReplyDelete(psst, I know there's a budget and kids haven't been back to school since March - There's no money is always the party line - when it comes to grade school sports)
Do you really think money hasn't been spent since March? The schools still have bills. And unfortunately more of them now. Deep cleaning, special supplies, providing lap tops to so many people even those that didn't need them, purchasing internet for so many, even those that didn't need it but wanted to get what was theirs anyway? The cost of schoology plus the training cost for teachers? The addition of IT workers. Covid has cost the schools more money then normal just like covid is costing restaurants, salons, and any other business out here. The schools based their decisions off a governor who told them phase 3 wasn't happening until Jan. And no kids until phase three. Then one wk before school he got on tv and acted a fool. Blamed schools for not opening on administrations and then what 3 days later went to phase three? Schools not opening is Hogan's fault. At least talk to people and get the facts. By the way, I homeschool so I'm not a fan of public schools but give credit where credit is due. Also, if you can visit a local business, please do. Order carry out. And if you can, tip a little extra to the waitress or waiter. Things have been very, very difficult on people who work in the service industry. Thank the walmart cashier. Sometimes it's the small things in life to help others know you care.
