Earlier this month, the Wicomico County Council approved $50,000 in supplemental appropriations to hire TGM Group, LLC to assist in the preparation of financial reports for the fiscal year 2020 year-end audit.
While the county contracts with PKS & Company to complete the annual audit, Acting Finance Director Pam Oland told the council this week TGM would also work with the county for the second consecutive year.
“TGM was brought in last year to help with the 2019 audit,” she said, “and they have been brought in to also help us get prepared for the 2020 audit.”

Publishers Notes: This is what you get when you rehire Pam Oland who completely screwed up tat department years ago and was a YEAR behind. Wicomico County needs a new Council!
I thought there was a county auditor?
ReplyDeleteThe County Executive (whoever that’s going to be) needs to appoint and the County Council needs to confirm a competent Director of Finance. At this very moment Wicomico County is advertising for a County Executive, a Director of Finance, a Deputy Director of Finance and a Director or a Public Works. Who is steering the ship here?

Dumbasses on the county council. The majority is crooked Republicans.
No they are crocked Democrats saying they are Republicans.
DeleteHahaha. This is what happens when you vote into office shorebillies. You pay thousands in salaries for people to do a job. Then you pay thousands more to Billie Bob's uncle's company to do the same JOB. SUCKER'S. Why don't you have a state auditor do it?? Half the price?? Oh that's right. Can't allow anyone else see what BAFFOONS you are with money.
ReplyDeleteYou moron, the county is required by its charter to be audited annually by INDEPENDENT auditors. You are the buffoon, jacka##
DeleteAt 50,000 dollars?? You think that's okay?? You are the BAFFOON JACKASS.
DeleteWhat makes you an expert on the propriety of the fee? Not everything can be purchased from the dollar store.
DeletePKS cannot prepare the Financial Statements and footnotes. County employees prepare these statements then PKS audits them.
ReplyDeleteApparently there is no County employee qualified to prepare these statements.
So, it will cost the County $75,000 to have TGM do this.
WOW!
$50K, $75K,$25k
ReplyDeleteNeither amount is okay!
The county should hire qualified employees!
Pam Oland has a history of not telling auditors the whole truth. The only good thing Ireton did for the city was send her snooty a$$ packing. Just to be rehired by the county. She was fine while Bob was there but with him gone looks like the council and Psota have finally made her somewhat earn her bloated salary plus another 75 k to cover her a$$. I hear she is not a hit in finance either.
ReplyDeleteMalfeasance. So the county pays three times to look at the same information and by the way it is simple by a counting standards
ReplyDeleteOnly in Wicomico do we grow em that dumb
"Simple by acounting standards" You can't even spell accounting correctly.
Delete, moron.

This all fell under Michelle Ennis and Bob Culver. Bob was letting her run the county and she fired most of the employees in the Finance Department or they quit. She hired TGM for the second year in a row because she and her staff were too incompetent to handle the financials on their own. If you watched that meeting you would have picked up all of those facts. Pam Oland is Wayne Strausburg and John Psota's pick for Finance Director. Wayne is still running the Executive Branch in case you didn't know.
I assume Ms Oland has a BS degree in Accounting plus an MBA plus is a CPA.
ReplyDeleteOf not, this position is way over her head and she is “BSing “ the County Council.
Joe this post should be at the top
ReplyDeleteBet you would have a lot more comments if it was
$75,000/$100hr =750 hours
ReplyDelete750 hours /40 hours =18.75 weeks
So, it takes almost 19 weeks to prepare the F..ing Statements
This is not Rocket Science folks!
Wicomico Ancestry trees have no branches
ReplyDeleteIt’s a straight shot to dumb and dumber
Lol Lol
Screw you jacka$$. You don't like it here? LEAVE!!! We didn't invite you here.
DeleteAuditors only go over what is presented to them in a "Fill In the Blanks" type of report. They will tell you on their first or second page that they are not responsible for anything. They will do a litmus test of certain items i.e. purchase card use and a few other areas of concern. What is truly needed is an actual Forensic Audit that will go deep into the practices of what is really going on in the county. I would hire a firm from across the bridge with no connection to the county and has a proven record of this type of work. I would have them present examples of their work to the County Council so that they will at least know something of what these types of firms. Anything less is just keeping with the Good Ole Boys way of operating this county.
ReplyDeleteThe profound level of ignorance in this post is astounding.
ReplyDeleteSad the comments here are off base. Even the publisher's comment lacks support.
ReplyDeleteAll are missing what really caused this situation.
Has anyone researched the turnover in that department during the last 3 years?
News Maybe
Opinions lack of facts to support
Analysis no support
Human interest more like human sacrifice
Pam has just been tasked to clean up Michele's mess. Put the blame where it is due. TGM is being paid $75K to do what Michele was already paid to do.
