  2. Also on the agenda are Legislative Bill's 2020-07, 08 and 09.

Each Bill is intended to amend the Wicomico County Charter by establishing new "regulations regarding service by someone in a position for which confirmation by the county council is required, including sanctions for serving in such a position without such confirmation and for aiding and abetting such conduct".

Each Bill establishes penalties, grounds for removal, payment and liability for prohibited salary imposed upon not only the employee, but those county officials who knowingly made or authorized such actions.

These Bills would not only hold the guilty employee subject to a misdemeanor and subject to a fine not to exceed $1000 with immediate removal, but could also hold other confirmed county officials accountable like the Director of Human Resources (who failed to act) , the Director of Finance (who continued to issue a paycheck), and the County Executive if either knowingly made or authorized such actions.

    This is a big deal.

  3. Joe, anything on Kevin Lindsay (Jake Day's "community relations" department head) suddenly getting dismissed from his position? Sounds kind of sketchy...

  4. Sounds like the council is having a temper tantrum and wants to protect its power with a bunch of rules!

These should be on the ballot for the voters to decide...!

  5. I pray it's not Anderton the cry baby seen on this blog driving and having a real child melt down on all his disappointments in life. I pray it's new blood not part of the pack.

  6. It’s high time they hold someone accountable for the mess this County is in!! Hope they put them in the Charter ASAP!

  7. The County Council keeps undercutting the Office of the Executive. If the sheep in the County continue to vote for these kinds of people, there will be no Executive. We voted for having a County Executive for a reason - educate yourselves!

  10. The County Council’s behavior is exactly why Wicomico needs an executive. Can you imagine it taking many weeks to make a decision that is needed for the people? What a hoot they are!

  11. Culver, and his insistence to ignore the laws set fourth in the County Charter, with his declaration that Michele Ennis was going to stay as Director of Finance is the very cause that the County Council had to take this action. The County Council had no choice but take this action.

But, Bob Culver is dead so, who cares.

  12. They are all afraid of Michelle Ennis getting the job and holding them accountable! Poor babies, they are so weak and afraid.

    1. Jake Day’s wife would be a perfect choice for the job. A high character individual.

  13. Does our county need an executive. The county is a 100M + business and look at what we are paying and hiring?

This position should not be a political position but the best candidate should be hired.
I know Mike Dunn and Bill Chambers would not like it.
Right now we do not have the right candidate.

  17. It doesn't matter who it is. You all will only BITCH and SCREAM who ever becomes executive. They could give you all a million dollars. You all would bitch because the bills are wringled.

  18. The Conservative voters still don't want Anderton - for a bunch of reasons!

  19. Any updates on who the candidates are this time around?!

  20. Dear Mr. Dodd,
I live in your district and if you vote for Anderton I will outwardly attack you relentlessly on social media when you run for councilman again.
    Do the right thing!

  22. The County Council should have NO SAY over County employees...that's what the Executive and HR are for. You want to change the Charter? Put it on the ballot!

God forbid this type of situation ever arise again there should be no question of a special election so the voters can fill this ELECTED position.

I just saw a 'breaking news' with the 2 candidates...MY support goes to Pate Matthews.

  23. So please tell, why couldn't michelle ennis be the finance director????

  24. 8.27 anon that has already happened. Steve Miller assembled a B.L.M. meeting months ago there. If Anderton is appointed tomorrow the county will be in the same liberal realm as the city. The county has a liberal auditor who wants to spend taxpayer money on a friggen department culture and white privilege study WTF! Jake and Kornbread are best buds so look for county B.L.M. roads and more freebies other than school supplies and gym bags.Do not know nothing about Mr Matthews but I sure hope he can pull a rabbit out of his hat.
