Employees from Puerto Rico may come to Ocean City to fill the employment gap created by the covid-19 pandemic.
The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, Worcester County Economic Development and Tourism and the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association are pursuing options with the National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce to address the shortage of workers in the resort.
The departments are presenting businesses with two solutions – either to campaign with the National Puerto Rican Chamber or to recruit workers through a firm focused on Puerto Rican workers.
The shortage is primarily due to people staying home during the covid-19 pandemic and the temporary ban on work visas, which eliminated the chance for about 4,000 J-1 students to work in Ocean City this summer.

Isn’t imported workers a dangerous risk to the population?
ReplyDeleteAnything to save taxes.. summer is over folks and boards will have mostly all new shops next year. It will be Israeli owned t shirt shops from one end to the next.
ReplyDeleteAlready is. Been like that for decades.
DeleteWell, that’s just precious.
ReplyDeleteHow about hiring those hoodrats that stalk the boardwalk?
ReplyDeleteHow about those sitting home on unemployment and welfare need to get a job.
ReplyDelete9:10 Do you really want them spitting or wiping other bodily excrement in your food or on your plate?
ReplyDeleteHygiene might be a problem, not to mention the association with and activism for the same groups that are contaminating cops
and non woke white people’s food and drink? They are plain evil and simply not welcome.
Might be a good thing. They won't take any crap from thugs
ReplyDeleteGood point haha. They can dish out if those idiots start something.
DeleteHave any of you been to P.R.?? Don't worry about my family coming to OC. As if they don't have enough problems.
ReplyDeleteRickie Beerinhan, put the beers DOWN. Sober up and think straight!
ReplyDeleteIdiot!
You ask the impossible in many different ways.
DeleteWow - If I lived in your area I would be pissed. No jobs only for PR. PR individuals are willing to come to OC and work and live permanently - what does that due to you on temporary unemployment. By temporary I mean when it runs out. Are you folks on unemployment willing to let this happen.
