Herman Cain

He won't have three funerals. He won't be flown all over the United States. He won't lie in state at the Capitol rotunda. He won't get much mention in the news after today. He is a black man who was raised by a mother who was a cleaning woman and domestic worker (read that as a maid), and a father who was a barber and a janitor. The senior Cain later worked three jobs to build a house for his family. Herman Cain rose from nothing to become an astute business man. At 36, he was assigned in the 1980s to analyze and manage 400 Burger King stores in the Philadelphia area. His success at Burger King prompted Pillsbury to appoint him president and CEO of another subsidiary, Godfather's Pizza. In 1988, Cain, Ronald B. Gartlan, and a group of investors bought Godfather's from Pillsbury. After he left Godfather's, he was on the board of directors of Aquila, Inc., Nabisco, Whirlpool, Reader's Digest, and AGCO, Inc. The list goes on and on. There will be no military honor guards. No presidents giving a eulogy. No media coverage for three hours during prime daytime TV. Why? He was black and successful. He was a business genius. BUT..........he was a conservative in a country where a black man, a successful black man, dare not take that path. Rest In Peace, Sir. You mattered to more people than you know.

  3. Herman Cain was a good, smart, successful, honorable and patriotic man.

Those qualities are the reason that his life will be swept under the rug by the main stream not just media but the public as a whole.

Can our society ever be saved?

  5. Herman Cain never held any sort of office. Of course he wouldn't lie in state at the Capitol.

    2. That’s all Cummings and Lewis did. Held a office, sure as hell didn’t have a job or work. Both used it for grandstanding a bunch of mouthy dribble. Shame people in such a position doesn’t use it to help the citizens they are paid by. Unfortunately all they do is talk about how bad it is for the black man, while they live large. Glad I’m WHITE.

  7. He definitely mattered to more people than he realized. Rest in Peace Herman. You were a great, great example of a true patriot, and demonstrated that if you truly apply yourself in our great Country, you can surely achieve success even against tremendous odds.

  10. if more black followed the lead of the late great Herman Cain they would become better people and advance as a race. Far too many are lost. They claim to be Christian but lead lives completely full of sin with no thoughts ever to try to please God. Quoting verses and going to church doesn't cut it. Either does overlooking the sinful ways of so many blacks whether it be the thugs committing crimes or the disgustingly high illegitimate birth rate.

  11. Funny the comments on here call this black man smart and intelligent yet commenters on the Oprah story say blacks are low IQ and unintelligent. It appears that if black people agree with the beliefs of conservatives then they get praise but if they agree with liberals, they are stupid. While Mr. Cain worked very hard, as do many black people, he was able to become successful and have a political voice without being a politician. Many blacks did refer to him as an Uncle Tom, not because of his success, but because he aligned his political beliefs with today's party of racists, the GOP. We all know the KKK started with the Democrats but we also know about the Southern Strategy and the platform change between the parties. Now you may deny that Republicans are racist but let's see....it's Republicans flying the Confederate flag, it's Republicans fighting for the preservation of statues, it's Republicans who want to silence the black voice, it's the racist deep south with Republican states filled with poor whites who have voted Republican for decades and are still poor. Herman Cain showed his support for a racist president who downplayed a pandemic. He attended a Trump rally without a mask and died supporting a racist and a racist party. We see where that got him, 6 feet under. So if you want black people to vote Republican, stop the racist stereotypes, stop the racism period. For every lazy black there are 4 lazy whites. Some of you white people are just as unintelligent, low IQ and backwards as everyone you claim to be superior to. You will never get the black vote with the thought process of many of the commenters of this blog. I will never vote Republican. I don't care if every Mexican, Haitian and South American sneaks into the US. My vote will never be the same vote as a racist.

    3. You are so confused. Actually I used to be a Democrat. Union family of hard workers. Ten in our family alone. All Democrats. Then here come OBAMA with his RACIST bullshit and Muslim attitude. No work for Union's. Manufacturing closing up. The Democrats did more for the welfare man than the working man. Then Hillary comes along and says she is going to put more people out of work. Now we are ALL Republicans. In-laws. Outlaws. Aunt's. Uncle's. Cousins. Grandma. Grandpa. Grandkids. You get the picture. So no. You're a Lilly WHITE POS we all have watched on TV. Real tough until your ass gets thumped.

  13. I was devastated when I heard of his death! He was my hope that this country had a strong influence through him. He was my vote for the presidency, until the media with their smears, forced him to drop out due to the expense involved in defending himself - I knew back then that we needed a smart, successful businessman! But I have hope that there are more, out here in our silent majority, as influential as Mr. Cain was. He will not be forgotten by many of us, even though the media will do their own thing and minimize his death. We all know better! Mr. Cain got his stars in heaven.

  14. Every day its another deluge of half baked illogical posts. This post is trying to compare Herman Cain's death to that of John Lewis. Regardless of whether you agreed with his politics, Lewis was a career public servant with a lengthy career in as a federal government official. He also was a leader in a historic movement in the US. Therefore Yes, he gets all the trappings of a state funeral. No Herman Cain does not get those only because he was known more as a business man and not as a public servant or civil rights leader. Rest in peace Herman. You did some good while you were here. Hopefully you won't be remembered for dying while following behind a bozo who chooses to ignore basic public health information.

    1. Another difference is Herman was a good solid guy while Lewis was another instigator and agitated people. I’m sure Herman would be satisfied sprinkling his ashes over a pizza field and let Lewis hang around in a box showing his bad self.

  16. He was a remarkable man. I only wished he was our first black president. We wouldn't be in this mess now, if our eight years of Obama were instead of Mr. Cain.

  17. 3:13 PM - Lewis not even close to the man Cain was. Stop with the civil servant platitude. Lewis sucked off government while Cain produced - simple as that!

  19. I really liked to listen to that man - very interesting person. Very knowledgeable. He will be missed.
It is a shame how lazy hateful politicians like Wilson and McCain have 3 funerals and a great black man like Cain a comment in passing.
