CHRISTOPHER WOLCOTT SENTENCED TO TWELVE YEARS FOR FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT

On July 27, 2020, the Honorable S. James Sarbanes, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, sentenced Christopher Wolcott, 30 years of age, of Salisbury, Maryland, to twelve (12) years active incarceration in the Maryland Division of Corrections, and three (3) years of supervised probation. Wolcott entered a guilty plea to assault first degree immediately preceding his sentencing.

On November 12, 2019, Christopher Wolcott attacked the victim in a homeless encampment in Salisbury, slashing the victim’s face several times with a utility knife following an earlier physical confrontation. The victim suffered lacerations to his face requiring multiple sutures and staples to repair and prolonged hospitalization for treatment in aid of recovery. The Maryland State Police investigated the case and collected evidence that linked Wolcott to the crime.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie Dykes commended Sgt. J. Pruitt, the lead investigator, and other Troopers from the Maryland State Police for their work in the investigation. SA Dykes also commended Special Investigator M. Daugherty of the State’s Attorney’s Office and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney D. Scott Messersmith, who prosecuted the case, for their efforts.

  2. So, homeless man gets a free place to stay with 3 meals a day for the next 12 years. I'm sure he's really upset about it.

  3. For some, part of homelessness is not just not having a home, but having freedom to relocate at will. Prison is a trade off.

    1. I went to school with him. Only adhd at max. He did have a rough home life. I remember on the bus one day he told me his dad hurt his middle finger and that he was going to chop it off. This was middle school. He was just hyper. I guess nobody taught him how to live right.
