  3. I'm all for freedom of speech, but come on guys. This is supposed to be a family vacation town and people still bring their kids to the Boardwalk for fries and rides. Exercise your rights without teaching little kids new vile vocabulary.

    1. If this rule still stands you are allowed to hang vulgar t-shirts outside your shop as long as you are south of north division st. No kids are seeing anything on this sign that isn't hanging all over the trashy OC t-shirt shops.

    1. No one is protected by the 1st amendment the other is indecent exposure and public nudity. If girls have their tits out then I should be able to hang my Johnson out and walk around. Y'all don't say anything about Brass balls, Big Peckers, Bearded Clam, Hooters, Dirty Dicks Crab house or Salty Dog Saloon. All sexual inuendos

  12. Shame on the ones involved with this sign. You do not have to sink that low. I do not support hogan, but would never make a sign like that. Everyone is talking about offensive, this will offend lots of people. Especially those with children.

  13. Since when did profanity and obscenity, either written or verbalized in the public arena become free speech? Are we truly becoming a Nation of heathens with a total disregard for morality and decency?

  14. Yet they have signs that say no profanity. What’s the difference in saying profanity or writing it?

  30. Bob Aswell ....RealistAugust 24, 2020 at 9:18 AM

Here is the product of over regulation. Last week it was gasoline. When folks start to get enough of ignorance, they're going to rebel sometimes in bad taste. OC isn't a family place anymore, but a forum for attention because they know the media is on the scene. They know somehow this is going to filter back to Hoggan and he'll get the message.

This total madness with government agencies that are vital, closed, and making normal people's lives a living Hell has gone far enough. The guy with the sign has rights and the ones who called the law think Hoggan can regulate that too as to not blemish his and Cuomo's presidential bid.

I live in Somerset Co. and there was NO mention of the motels here being stuffed with active Latin cases imported from Delaware and Nanticoke Hospital by PGHS. It was, and it was at Hoggans' behest. Secondly, A couple in the County was supposedly 'scheduled' to have a Covid test at the drive-in testing site at Westover, Md., and after an hour in line and NO movement, they left. A week later they received notice they weren't positive and never took a test. There are numerous witnesses to these facts.
Stupidity has run rampant and even the people who aren't talking have had enough. Bureaucratic bullshit has ruled from the onset of this debacle and now the public is expressing its position, although in bad taste, still the truth.
Show rolly-poly Hoggan where his leadership has got him when, and if he does run for the top job. Give him a zero which is the sum total of his effectiveness as the Governor which has been a total and and dismal failure.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If cops don't do anything about the burning and rioting why would they do anything about someone peacefully protesting?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, “unfortunately” this is freedom of speech. Public perception and interpretation is often very different.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sure, Free Speech... but also poor taste.

I take my family, children included to Ocean City, so do others. A family resort is a poor choice for this.

Completely inappropriate, and no way to tell what he is protesting. I get it, he doesn't like Hogan. Who cares? Nazi though? Way too over the top to be effective.

  36. Remember a time 20 years ago when the silly counsel argued about those on the boards without a shirt, or bars named the big pecker, being not any keeping with the OC family image? City counsel president then, now mayor, rich meehan. Guess the dollars trump the family.

PS - You might also remember when Bush was President, the state allowed anti bush groups to have a booth in the BWI terminal, theme of "Bush is Hitler".

The times haven't changed so much, afterall. Stand up for yourself, as I now appears, help is not coming.

  38. Not a fan of Hogan but should not be allowed on Boardwalk this is a family beach and should be a very private location. Where is the Mayor of OC on this incident?

  40. For all of the commenters that OC is a "family resort" I ask what are your boundaries?

outrageous prices that are unaffordable to the average family, Drug users on the boardwalk everywhere, Bars door to door and everywhere on the boardwalk, BLM protest and wearing apparel everywhere, LBGT everywhere, fights on the boardwalk, must I go on?

    Where is the "family resort"?

    ReplyDelete
  41. The point would have come across much louder by deleting the first and last lines. The profanity actually hurts the message. Although I agree with the message, someone should have put a foot where the sun don't shine. You just can't do that.

  42. Democrat voters are imbeciles. They have been programmed to think regulation means a good thing when the opposite is mostly true. Personally though I am glad they are stupid SOB's Their stupidity makes me a lot of money. For instance democrat regulations forced lenders to loan money for homes to high risk borrowers. This is what caused the crisis. i was able to purchase a few of these homes for a lot less then the former homeowner paid. They lost out and the wealthier got wealthier over this regulation.

Getting these high risk people into these loans was what Obama did during his Chicago community organizer days. I know someone who hates Obama but thanks him daily. They thank Obama for the brand new Roll Royce SUV they just bought for cash. Their several million dollar vacation lake home they purchased for cash and all the other toys there were able to buy Thanks to Obama and regulations They more then tripled their inventory of rentals and the purchase prices being so low had to borrow very little money which they paid off quickly.

  45. 1st Amendment is quite broad, on purpose. That's a good thing.

Do some abuse it? Absolutely; this moron is a classic example. His choice of language is reprehensible; may be over the line.

Seems he was obstructing others due to the size of his sign. Perhaps should have been asked to stand to the side where he'd still be visible but not obstructing. Glad someone got his name.

The price we pay for Joe and others providing blogs without governmental interference is occasionally having a raging moron like this cross our path. (And, on occasion various governmental units and personalities have tried to censor or suppress Joe).

  51. Public profanity is NOT protected by the first amendment. That is why we have network censors for radio and TV along with stricter ratings for movies. Regardless of your political affiliation this display is wrong.

  52. I am more offended at the use of useless masks. IF YOU ARE NOT TAKING ANY DROPLET PROTOCOLS THEN YOU ARE DOING NOTHING, NOTHING. This is according to your god Fauci. I wrote a letter to the gov and said worse.

    ReplyDelete
  53. He could have made his point without the expletives. If you are trying to make society aware of your feelings, you would attract more valuable support with different wording. Too much anger for me to take anyone like this seriously. Why would I listen to someone who seems unhinged?

    ReplyDelete
  54. So if we are allowed freedom of speech why can't we get the tags we want from the DMV. They are censored. I also remember a few years ago they made some of the t-shirt shops move vulgar t-shirts from the front of the store. This is unacceptable no matter who the candidate is.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This was not photo shopped. Go to Dough Rollers facebook page. They have a picture of the same sign. Their employees made a sign out of pizza boxes that says "Stop the hate" and were holding it next to this guy

  56. Did anyone from the city - OCPD or government - just calmly spoke with him and appealed to any sense of decency this guy might have?
If so, I'd like to hear what the guy's response was.
BTW: For those of you that may be worried about kids seeing those words, check out the lyrics of many of the songs the kids are listening to today.
Just two years ago, the #1 Billboard R&B song was titled "F*** You".

  57. Freedom of speech outside on the boards (gov't regulated ala city/state) - but if one were to go into an establishment (private) all bets are off.

"Service" could be denied and individual asked to leave.

If individual chooses not to leave, LEOs can get involved, ask soon to be PERP to leave and when they don't - BAM!

Outside, well nothing regardless of the vulgarity.

Some folks are offended by the "Naked Cowboy" in downtown NYC. Cowboy hat/boots, guitar and Tidy Whities. However he is not naked and continues to enjoy his longtime fame.

  65. I'm not a Hogan fan, but you Trump cultists are ridiculous. Making a mandate that you must wear a mask for the 10 minutes you're inside Food Lion doesn't make the guy a "Nazi Cunt." Thanks for correcting the year of the song.
Also: The radio edit was rarely, if ever, played at parties - parties that included all ages.
I could give you many, many other lyrics that have actually made their way into mainstream airplay, but I'm pretty sure that it would be censored on this blog!
My husband and I have a 5-year-old boy, and we had to sit through a birthday party for a ten-year-old and watch their friends (the girls) "twerking" each other, as they saw Miley Cyrus do on TV.
Seeing a few 'bad words' means nothing to them today.
    Times have changed.

"Allowed" is the wrong word in reference to the obscene T-shirts in the boardwalk stores.
Years ago, some council members (and the Chief of Police) did a walking tour of the shops.
The just "requested" that the shop owners keep the more questionable t-shirts off of the displays in front of the store.
It was just a request - not an order.
If I remember correctly, ALL shops agreed to it.
It was a good moment for the town.

  71. I wonder what the response would be if he used the N-word?
