NFL Again Fumbles Opportunity to Unite America

The National Football League once again is fumbling away an opportunity to unite America. This is the result we could have expected, given the NFL’s playbook over the past few years.

The NFL’s decision to play what is known as the black national anthem—“Lift Every Voice and Sing”—before every Week 1 game seems poised to divide, not unite, our country.

But a secondary, more certain outcome of this decision is that the NFL will lose its luster at a greater pace than it achieved its dominant allure.

Football once reigned supreme in American culture. The sport wove its way into American homes all but two nights a week, catapulting up the ratings charts. To the unending benefit of the NFL—and its teams and players—football replaced baseball as America’s game.

  1. Communist couple that made the decision JZ and his wife. Now they watch and laugh from their Billion dollar empire. Surprisingly enough he is Actually from Cambridge and the Dea passed on investigating him because he was low lever crack dealer and didn’t meant kilo weight. Back then that was a lot but if they did foot ball would still be ok.

  2. Sports are dieing. The blacks will have to support them. White folks like myself are gone for good.
I truely hope no more sports are played this year or for that matter ever.
I'd love to see those overpaid socialist players lose everything.

  4. The NFL Owners are communists and globalists.
They have more lofty goals than just money.
They are united with like-minded Marxists to change the world. First they will change the US. Other nations will tumble.

    This is a checkmate move.
The globalists control the Central Banks.
    They print the currency.

  6. What, the black players stand for the BNA and then take a knee for TSSB? Or do they take a knee or stand for both? What about the players of other colors? This is all getting smelly pretty fast.

  8. The arguments, altercations, and fights in the stands during both "anthems" will make a hockey game look like a girls soccer league.
Whites will not stand for the Black one, Blacks will not stand for the "white" one.
    What's next? Separate water fountains?
    It's going to be ugly.
Finally, a good reason to watch the NFL!

  9. What patriots need to do is either turn their back when the BLM anthem is played or stay out of the seating area until THE NATIONAL ANTHEM is played. I will be at the Ravens games, fan limits permitting, and that is what I encourage others to do as well.

  10. Done with the Felon's League and their worthless owners.

If they think the looter class is going to pick up the slack from the cancelled or unrenewed tickets, TV packages and official products they are in for a rude shock. The empty seats of the past couple years are just the prelude. Not a Redskins fan, but it's the straw that will break the camel. My 50 years of fan stuff is off its shelf and went to the attic today.

    Done.

  11. Will the Redskins buy back all the memorabilia? It's only fair. Lord knows they probably won't let you enter the stadiums if you're wearing anything Redskins

  12. Rome had the coliseum to divert the population’s attention away from the social problems of the day. They knew the less educated had short attention spans. The NBA, NFL serve the same purpose.

  16. Scary to me that people like 8:17 can vote. So out of touch with society as a whole. Stay on the ES where you belong.

  17. The solution is simple; don't support the NFL with your time or money. I stopped when this crap started several years ago and never regretted it. Money is the only thing that counts for them, and if enough people boycott the NFL (and the owners feel the financial hit) then things will change course.

  19. "NFL will meet history like the dinosaurs did"

Not likely since the majority will watch football no matter what. College then Pro's. If that means they punt for 1 year, folks WILL come back. Baseball was referred to as America's national pasttime - football took over back in the 1990's.

Advances with TV made that possible (DirectTV) and football has flourished since then. NOT from gate/merchandising - for TV contracts.

The minority are stating they will not return. The newspaper writers and TV talking heads - well they are PAID to write/talk so they will do whats needed to make that buck. And will watch football when its on.

    Reality INDEED.
