Mayor Rick Meehan is sharing a COVID-19 Update.

Today I passed a declaration requiring everyone over the age of five to wear face coverings on Ocean City’s Boardwalk between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. The ordinance takes effect Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m.

  1. Good luck sport - tie up OCPD with running down people without masks as the real bad guys who do real crime run amok - you are about as smart as the bar stool you are on.

  2. The problem is masks do not prevent anyone from getting it. Dr Birx was interviewed just the other day and said it won't prevent anyone from getting it. Face shields may due to the fact they prevent you somewhat from touching your face. The only way masks would ever work is if people wore them 24/7 including when you sleep if you share the bed with someone else. It makes no sense to only wear them in public to prevent the public from getting it then go home and spread it around your family. The only thing that works is either to stay completely isolated or of course hand washing but more importantly break the hand to face connection.

    1. Yup and hospitals aren’t over run, no tents, no ships pretty much nothing. 99.8 percent recovery and most don’t get sick. Did I mention mask do not stop virus particles because they are transparent.

  4. Worry about crime you joke. How dare you ask citizens to wear a mask when we had to live in fear the entire month of June.

  5. Mr. Meehan: I thank you for setting me up for TWICE my OC (un)employment earnings payments. Hate to say it but you are a real (uneducated) jerk. You hire department heads whose qualifications consist of chicken plant expertise to handymen from the local Catholic Churchs. Because of YOU, I continue to benefit from overly generous weekly benefits.

YOU could recall seasonal employees but you have not and probably won't until next year. To those in my boat, good luck and I hope you too benefit from employees who continue to be punished by MD politicians decisions.

  6. Age 5??? What SCIENCE is that based on. Politicians just keep making it up as they go.

  7. Come on now 11:56. You can do anything that you want after 2AM if you are scum.

Ol Rickie bends over backward for the drunk thugs that start shit after they close the bars down @ 2AM. They must be his drinking buddies.

His drinking has screwed up his brain.

He's only gonna fine and harass good family people that are in bed by then.

    Isn't that just great.

  8. The last time I was at the Boardwalk, IT WAS OUTDOORS.
Have they moved the Boardwalk inside, and if so, inside what building?

    I don't get it.
Why would I wear a diaper outside?

We have a right to breathe fresh air.

Is this guy trying to destroy OC business?

    Geez

  9. If Rick really wanted to protect the public, he could have closed the 3 entries into ocean city, on Memorial Day, and stay closed. At least he got two thirds through the high season $$, and now can stick his chest out. He will beg for a bail out, and get it, from Larry. While thugs take over the city after 9 pm, he promotes OC as a family resport?

  14. What a farce. Black thugs running through stores destroying anything and everything. No masks to be found. But...the family must wear a mask?

  15. Let's see if they enforce it the next time the thugs come to town

  17. Just wait until the H2O crowd shows up wearing masks

  18. Do they have to wear their masks when they are tumbling around on the boardwalk stabbing each other and clubbing each other over the head? Just wondering. If they take their masks off during these brawls, then at least the police would show up to give them a fine.

  19. Nice job with the hours of requirement Rick. Now the cops won't have to arrest all the drunks leaving the bars without their masks.
