Increase In Tipping Fees At The Wicomico Landfill

Due to the increasing costs in the Wicomico Landfill operations, the tipping fees for the Newland Park Landfill will increase from $60.00 per ton to $65.00 per ton. The brush fee will increase from $30.00 per ton to $32.50.

This increase will be effective July 1, 2020.

  1. Great time to keep increasing prices since well we ALL have money!

All increases are always passed down to the bottom of the chain - the people.

Always must increase the cost when the business is hurting for money - WRONG! It doesn't work as a business model.

Can never catch what you lost - never!

  2. Maybe if Bennett paid back the “discount” they got a few years back.....

    2. I’ve heard from four different sources telling me there’s been Genovese family influence in this mix somewhere. Too many different players and they’re tightening it up.

  3. Should be NO damn FEES !!!
Plus they should have to be OPEN 24/7 at ALL sites !!!!

We pay Too much in Taxes all year & there should NOT be ANY dump
    fees !!!

Like buying a car with No steering wheel >Oh that's extra
No Tires > Oh that's extra
We can't even get in because they are CLOSED Tue & Thur after we

Are you expecting county employees to be there running it 24/7 or is that one of them free services that you expect?

  6. I always tip 20% for good service! :)

  7. Quit whinnin'. Wicomico is as good as it gets.Permit holders don't pay for brush. They have transfer stations everywhere thru out the county. Move to Worcester County and see what you get.

  8. Disagree with the 24/7 comment. Too much resourcing (money and people) to make that truly happen. I've seen many county landfills (other states) open from 6am-6pm, minus Xmas and a few other Fed holidays. Hell 8am-6pm would suffice.

Thing is, there needs to be a good sound strategic plan to make that work and uhhhh well.....probably not doable here on the shore.

  9. I hate to say it but this will cause more trash deposited on dirt roads in the near future

  10. A modest increase. And, no, a commercial hauler like Bennett shouldn't be getting any breaks. Instead, they should be passing the costs on to their customers, the bulk of which are commercial businesses themselves, especially construction companies, whose wastes account for over half of what goes into a typical landfill.

  11. The landfill superintendent is in WAY over his head. He goes from employee to employee asking there advise on all operations.Mr Bob really needs to get a truly qualified person with a business and or management degree in the department.

  12. Everyone responsible in the Wicomico county government for this increase should be ashamed of themselves.

  13. To 9:37AM: Your exactly right on point! You can Thank our great Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver for this increase! Thanks Bob for ruining the county!

  14. Got to cover Culver’s health care!

  15. Maybe they will be able to pick up the trash on the roads leading to the place. It looks like a third world country on them. Cut the grass and pick up the trash later.

  16. Probably to cover the costs of dumping all of the recyclables in the landfill over the last month instead of recycling them. Oh wait, that hasn’t been made public.

  17. It was A.S.A.P. Wicomico county is getting to be too expensive to live in for the average person.

  18. We should be able to tip what we think the service warrants. 15% has been customary for a long time. Exceptional service should receive a larger tip.

I would like to tell you about a man working at the landfill, he is a black man who has been done wrong by this County, The County is taking a dollar an hour out of his pay check, an has been doing this for a long time, IT was done because one of the County Machines caught on fire at the land fill, He is paying for it out of his check , I told him I was going to the County an make it right, I started with the Council about five six years ago Rick Pollit said the County was going to make it Right, didn't happen so now im on it again Put call in to Bob Tex to Joe Call to Joe Hollway What they did to this man is R---- how about his right to move up in the County if it was time served he should be running the landfill. But no he cant get past the tire shop You Can Not Hold An Employe resaonable for what happens, We have Laws I have known this good man a long time. Make it right pay him what you owe him. Give him his raises, You can turn your backs make play of this, This County has given a lot of people a hard time , for no reason. Old saying Don't give it if you cant take it.

  23. You should be happy they're landfilling their recyclables now. Market prices have hit bottom and it's costing to dispose of it. I'm sure no one wants to step up and recylce anyway at the expense of the landfill.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ummm folks, this isn't a tip to people like servers. This is the cost per ton to dispose of the trash and that is now $65.00 per ton which is an 8.3% increase

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's no secret among the trash companies that there is Genovese influence on the shore but no one will talk about it openly.

  26. Some high class people on here kicking a man when he is down. Bob Culver)
Why would anyone talk about the health of Bob Culver in such a way. Hope you never have to deal with what Bob is going thru. This is just horrible. Whoever you are, I can only hope that you don't have to ever suffer from this disease.
My heart goes out to Bob and anyone else who is going thru cancer treatments.
I've been there and believe me, you don't know how bad anyone suffers. So, please, sit down and think about the hurtful things that you have said because karma is a bitch.

  28. To 8:57 AM: If the Heat is Too HOT, get out of the kitchen! When your an Elected offical you have accepted that your personal life is an open book to the general public. If Bob wants the bleeding to stop, one of two things can happen. Take it like a MAN or GET OUT which the latter option is what the majority of the voters would rather see. GET OUT BOB!!

I know Bob Culver, He reminds me of Trump, Go Bob I have got your Back. Their are some real pricks working for this County. Bobby is not one of them.

  30. Culver is the main problem and the reason why Wicomico County government is in the mess it is currently experiencing. Never during the Rick Pollitt Era did the County have so many vacant department head positions and deliberate disregard to the Wicomico County Charter! Culver is an ignorant fool (bordering on being stupid) who has No idea what he is doing! THat's the very reason you only saw Wayne Strausburg and Weston Young in discussions with the County Council. Culver never spent the time and isn't capable of being able to comprehend the complexities of compliance to laws, charters and the basics of economics. When he doesn't get his way, he throws a temper tantrum and unleashes it upon the very people who try in vain to explain to him the reasons Why. Culver is the wrong person for the job of County Executive, PERIOD! Culver needs to go ahead and resign due to his seriously declining health. But do to his own selfish reasons and Pure stubborness, HE WON'T!!! Shame on you Bob!

  31. Looks like KARMA has already struck Bob! Do unto others what you would want them to do unto you! Karma is a Bitch and the old saying what goes around comes around, that applies here!

  32. What is funny is the deputy director was involved with the 2008 scandal as deep as Lewis and has been promoted twice for it. The Candy clown playing superintendent cannot pin the tail on the donkey when he is right in front of the a$$.Culver and council must have passed the hat and drew a name for this position.

I thought it would be a good time to bring this up I didn't want to use the mans name that works for the County Landfill. Most of you know who Im talking about he got the shaft for no reason what was done to him is simply, because they could, Im speaking Of Matt Cramer I learned a lot form this man but what was done to Ronnie Corban is not right. I sit an think of what reflection this has had to him his children , his retirement. He should be running the landfill or retired. Not cheated The Machine that cought fire belonged to the County not, Ronnie Corban, Ronnie has been paying a dallor an hour for a very long time, guessing thirty years or more. Please look into this make it wright, show people things can be better.
