$1.2 Million Bail For Man Who Struck Protesters Blocking Highway

The man who struck two protesters blocking a highway in Seattle saw his bail set at $1.2 million on Monday.

Dawit Kelete, a black man, was captured on video footage swerving around vehicles that protesters had angled across the highway before hitting two women, one of whom died.

Kelete was being held on suspicion of vehicular assault before the bail was set.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has yet to file charges against Kelete. It says it’s waiting for additional required information from the Washington State Patrol.

A charging decision is expected by Wednesday afternoon, spokesman Casey McNerthney said.

Kelete’s lawyer, John Henry Browne, said the crash was a “horrible, horrible accident” and was not intentional.

  6. But he is black, they wrote it in the article.
How can he be held accountable?

    This makes no sense.

  7. "The state patrol said going forward it won’t allow protesters to enter I-5 and would arrest pedestrians on the freeway."

    A little late don'tcha think?
How come someone has to die before people do the right thing?

  9. He definitely tried to avoid the them. But how are they allowed to Block his travel. They are not in a cross walk and are in the middle of a major highway. I don’t understand how they are allowed to do that. Just curious why is their any protesting for the them ?

  10. I read that he went up an off ramp that was supposedly closed. They had closed it for weeks so the clowns could “protest” and dance on the freeway. It was night time, and you can see him come up on the vehicles deliberately parked across the highway.

Then he swerves to avoid crashing into them, and hits a couple “protesters” literally dancing in the middle of the road.

He was an African immigrant named Dawit Kelete. Perhaps he had not been in the country long enough to be able to read street signs. (Probably got his license with a translator).

The media first tried to claim he was a “white supremacist.” Until the photos came out.

  11. I wanna know when the Mason led police forces are going to step up to the bar and correct the problem. they continue to foster and protect the lawless and the innocents get bent over. This is a revolution they wanted. probably waiting on dictates from the DC Lodge on the next move before the election. This is why neither party or the status quo goon squads can ever really be trusted. they don't work for us they are enlighted and think they have the answers in the Masonic lodges. According to their logic we are the onez in the dark.

  12. Don't play in the street is what Mom said. Sorry about their luck. The barricades were not made by the Municipality. Now, you're dead. R.I.P. Too bad being stupid isn't a crime.
