Violent Stretch In Ocean City Includes Two Stabbings

OCEAN CITY – The resort is coming to grips with a spate of violent incidents that began with a stabbing on the Boardwalk early last Sunday morning and peaked with a severe beating of a man during a larger incident early Wednesday morning.

It’s not unusual to have serious incidents, assaults and other unruly behavior in early to mid-June in Ocean City when recent graduates and other young people come in large numbers. Thus far this month, however, the incidents have been decidedly more frequent and more violent than last year, for example.

In a span of four days starting with a stabbing on the Boardwalk on Sunday, continuing with another stabbing on Tuesday and culminating with a major altercation that included the severe beating of a young man on Wednesday, the Boardwalk area was essentially a battle zone in the late night and early morning hours. The Wednesday incident was captured in a video that went viral on social media, resulting in an emergency, closed session meeting of the police commission to re-evaluate enforcement efforts.

  3. Weak Mare and Town Council. How embarrassing to be an elected Goober in that silly little town.

Are there any real Republicans in that town on the town council?

  4. Also, people being beaten at the west ocean city outlets. Then the perpetrators went to chipotle and wrecked the place and injured a cop.

  5. And all because the Mayor tells the Police to 'stand down'

Lets see Meehan out on the boards without a bodyguard in the wee hours of the morning, then he can tell the world what a safe FAMILY beach town this is.

Family beach town? That's laughable. It goes back to a bar on every block and drunks stumbling around, the homeless community that takes possession of their places on the boardwalk, and now the thugs (thugs= doesn't matter what color or sex you are) have FULL control over the town... all because the Mayor has let it be known that "Come to Ocean City" we won't do anything to interrupt your stay here. The Police stand down, so you can create as much damage to property, start fires, run around in a mob mentality, race your cars up and down the streets, and fight....we won't do anything to you because YOU run this town.

  8. C'mon down to this fine family resort. It's also educational........your kids will see and learn things that you don't really want them to, but hey, it's street education. So just c'mon down and spend your money, use your credit cards or whatever it takes to be in OC and enjoy our fine family resort.

  10. Where the Hell is the Police Chief who makes a fortune sitting on his ass at 62nd St! You never see him on the line with his men. Another stuffed shirt who polices on a damn cell phone. No balls-just mouth. This started with hiring Frank Pappas, an X DEA agent. Before him
Duggan was a pain in the ass yet he was visible. These executive type cops are rarely effective and they stay hidden to downplay their incompetence. Buzzuro shouldn't need many shoes because walking on the boards-just ain't his style-no security blanket.
