Council Names Fruitland Manager To Administration Post

SALISBURY – John Psota will serve as Wicomico County’s new director of administration after the council voted unanimously last week to confirm his appointment.

Last week, the Wicomico County Council voted 7-0 to confirm Psota’s appointment as the director of administration, effective July 1.

Psota, who currently serves as Fruitland’s city manager, will replace current Director of Administration Wayne Strausburg, who announced his retirement in March.

“I wish to thank the County Executive, Bob Culver, for this opportunity and for having the confidence in me to fill this position and thank you to Wayne Strausburg for his support,” Psota said in a statement this week. “I would also like to thank the Fruitland City Council, both past and present, for their guidance and support as well as all of the dedicated Fruitland City employees that I have had the pleasure of working with through the years. Lastly, I would like to thank the Wicomico County Council for their confirmation and I look forward to working with them.”

  2. My question is , is he going to destroy Salisbury by raising taxes, water and sewage bills? Fruitland is pathetic and he was / is part of that administration.

  3. Salisbury is already ruined, it's Wicomico County you should worry about.

  4. Another county 'leader' with hardly no experience. Wicomico County is circling the drain rather quickly.

My question is , can you be any dumber than you are???? What part of this article mentions the City of Salisbury and water and sewer bill. This is why we need to limit who is allowed to vote in our elections.

  6. Congrats Psota-pop!! I believe it will all be in vain once Day gets the city and county municipality merged so he can get his hands on all the county tax base as well. He's already taken over the airport and gas the sheriff's office doing 90% of the policing. You definitely won't a shot at glantz position or his deputy director

  7. I know John Psota personally and worked with him at MSP professionally. He is honest, caring, trustworthy and has impeccable character. He is a perfect selection for this position.

  8. Vote 7-0?? This guy is a retired state trooper and fellow high school classmate of Mike Lewis. Salisbury and wicomico county are already in "bed" together so to speak just a matter of time before one municipality is eliminated

If this happens its because the county council can't stop fighting over who has the biggest "truck". Cannon still controls the council cause Dodd is well dumb. Bob Taylor needs to stay in his lane for sure . Acle stirs up more trouble than all of them trust and believe. It is embarrassing to have a majority on the council and they will not stop going after their own because they want control and by they I mean Cannon. Josh needs to speak clearer always sounds like he has marbles in his mouth Joe is just hardheaded and needs to bow out next cycle. There is an executive branch and legislative branch for a reason . When did they stop teaching civics ? Most of you don't seem to get it. You can have an opinion but fine freedom of speech fine even when you are wrong. I hope Culver has it in him to run again but if he doesn't I will take anyone over Cannon who is starting a whisper campaign already for Executive. Even Anderton would be a welcome change at least he can work across the aisle . I would look for the following if Cannon doesn't get his way; charter amendments will be on the ballot again. They will continue to strip duties and authority away from the executive branch or get rid of it all together. End result? Cannon is boss again.

  10. If John is honest, trustworthy, caring and has such great character he will never be able to work in the office with Culver, Kenny, and Taylor.

  12. Can you say "Quid Pro Quo?" $73.000 dollars to $120.000 dollars??? A $47.000 pay raise for John Psota. Not a bad pay raise I might say! Add a State Pension on top of all this.
