A Comment I Just Made On A Facebook Post With Congressman Andy Harris
SMALL bars and restaurants who have to follow the restrictions pushed down our throats cannot survive under these guidelines. Oh sure, they are ALLOWING us to create outdoor dining but let's get real. Most of that depends on weather conditions. We have to hire additional staff to cater to this seating. The cost of purchasing hamburger, pork and chicken has risen 250%. A friend of mine went out this weekend and ordered a hamburger, a fish platter and two sweet teas. His bill was $49.00! Keep in mind as well. our bartender who could handle ALL of the bar and indoor seating before this COVID-19 happened. Now, IF Hogan allows indoor seating and dining it will be cut back 50%. Hence their tips will go way down and then let's not forget all the waiters/waitresses that have to be hired to handle the outdoor seating. NO ONE is going to make any money. Not the owners and not the staff and for what, having the PRIVILEGE to OPEN? It is far less expensive just to remain closed until it goes back to business as usual. We, the small bar owners are fortunate enough to have extremely dedicated people working for us. We are going to lose these incredible people who are dying to go back to work but completely understand this dilemma. Andy Harris can pound his chest to these very small crowds but as I have known him for well over a decade he is not calling us and hearing the small business owners and instead is holding events at miniature golf and go cart places. My message to him, come visit the hard working small bar/restaurant owners and I can assure you WE WILL BRING LARGE CROWDS. Sometimes I wonder if these politicians really want to hear the TRUTH. P.S. Hogan Sucks!
This is not a Harris jurisdiction.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Hogan , it is a very difficult job , like being a parent, never making anyone happy.
If the behavior that I saw this past week end at Bars,...not restaurants, if this continues we will never open up our favorite bars
Capitalism 101. Sorry it's working against you. Almost seems like small businesses should have some more protection and we should have a better protected food supply/ better protected workers. Oh well, more tax cuts for the billionaires though so that's good.
ReplyDelete10:38. Please explain how this is capitalism. Private businesses have been ordered closed.
DeleteStop making false statements.
Andy is your friend. Why attack him? He's a great congress member. I have to admit that I'm disappointed that he hasnot come by your restaurant, Joe, during his touring. He would get better news coverage if he stood arm in arm with you. Keep trying! You'll beat this mess.
ReplyDeleteCalling someone out is not an attack.
Delete"Sometimes I wonder if these politicians really want to hear the TRUTH."
ReplyDeleteObvious answer is NO.
Find a way to get to YES (regardless how assine it is) has been the political move over the last 5 years.
Sad Sad Sad.
Its become BLATANTLY obvious, that LAWS seem to apply only to the LAW ABIDING,while those who choose to disregard them receive a free "pass". If you don't believe me, please look at your nearest TV, and watch what's happening around this once wonderful Republic! For example: Non citizens can enter our country ILLEGALLY, and be provided free legal assistance, medical care, etc. An Illegal Alien (yep, i said it) can be here illegally, commit a crime, then be given "Due process" that many americans arent given. THUGS can run rampant in the street burning & looting IN VIDEO, but our police are either told to stand down, or are afraid to go in and arrest them. A law abiding gun owning citezen can have the police come to their home and CONFISCATE their weapons with ZERO proof of a crime, rather a friend or neighbor just saying they felt threatened, wherein the gun owner has to (at THEIR expense) get legal counsul and they have to prove their innocence, not the courts proving guilt. This is NOT "Due process"! the Media can repeatedly LIE to the public, giving false accusations that are a MAJOR reason why this current situation is as bad as it is, yet NOTHING happens, but God forbid a small business owner TRY'S to make an HONEST living! God forbid they TRY to provide for their family's and employees. THIS is why our country had the Boston Tea Party...Taxation without representation! I ask you. Just WHO are our elected officials representing???
ReplyDeleteThe luciferians thats who they represent 10:55
DeleteI've been getting takeout from a favorite bar/restaurant since this began. They're struggling. They haven't raised menu prices, but the portion size and quality has been slowly creeping downward. They have ho outdoor options. None. On a busy night in 2019 there'd be 80 people in the place. I don't know how they can hang on much longer.
ReplyDeleteDo you see any of them running after protesters/rioters/looters to tell them how many can be in a group? Making sure they have masks on? Me neither. The laws only apply to people who follow them. We are all getting played. Dems do what they want with no consequence. Protesters/rioters/looters do what they want with no consequence. Meanwhile hear the rest of us sit trying to do the right thing to stop a virus that was never much to start with.
ReplyDelete"Just WHO are our elected officials representing???"
ReplyDeleteBetter question Dwag is WHEN did our elected officials stop representing US?
Bizzaro World indeed!
Hogan wants the White House.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing restaurants say they need to hire more staff due to outdoor seating. What happened to the indoor servers? Anyway,as I am a career restaurant worker,I wish you the best. I'm sure it's more than frustrating.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are screwed til Covid is a past memory, you know after the election.
ReplyDeleteHogan needs PERSONAL lawsuits brought against him so HE FEELS what he is doing to you.
As is, he doesn't care.
I just VOTED. Harris did not get my VOTE. I'm done with is ASININE conduct. He's beginning to become part of the establishment. Meaning he's been there long enough.
ReplyDeleteI read in one of Joe's latest posts that the reg's from Worcester county stated he couldn't have music. Was this a mistake or correct? If it was correct, how come Secrets is getting away with having bands and music played but Joe could not?
ReplyDelete12:25, No. What I said is that ALL restaurants and bars that create a TEMPORARY outdoor dining area that did NOT have music set up CANNOT put ANY form of music in that area. If I open up and put seating around my pool area I CAN have music because it's always been there. Hence why Seacrets can also have music.
ReplyDeleteHogan will never get the White House. It would be nice if they held the ah um "protestors" to the same rules and regulations as the small businesses. I wonder how many fines were issued this weekend in Bloodymore.
ReplyDeleteHe was at EVO yesterday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteBottom line is if there is no spike in 2 weeks after all the protests then everything that hasn’t been burned down should be allowed to open 100%.
ReplyDeleteVote Harris out of office then. He's an out of touch rich doctor who doesn't step foot on the Eastern Shore unless he's campaigning for an election.
ReplyDeleteAndy Harris is just a Trump boot licker
ReplyDeleteWhy is Florida doing so well. We have been dining in at our favorite restaurants for well over a month. One restaurant had lines out the door. We senior citizens are not afraid. We know that underlying health conditions cause most of the virus deaths. What's with wimpy Maryland and Virginia? Hogan needs to discuss our methods and consult with Gov DeSentis - Trump supporter.
