Salisbury, MD ...Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver announced today that Dawn Veatch, Manager of Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport Manager has resigned effective May 21, 2020. Ms. Veatch's need to care for some family concerns has contributed to her decision.
Mrs. Veatch had a remarkable visionary leadership of the airport and she will be greatly missed. We wish her well and thank her for her outstanding leadership.
Maybe the water thingy was too much for her as well!
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the next manager will look out for General Aviation and the flight school instead of business only...the area is not robust enough for another airline and AA/USair/Piedmont is holding themselves back with only two destinations... PHL is horrible - half the flights are delayed or cancelled!
There's a lot more to that story
ReplyDeleteSuch as .... ??
DeleteSure is.
DeleteWow..good luck in her future endeavors. She did well in her position as airport CEO.
ReplyDeleteGot stuck in Philly for 12 hours never flew out of Salisbury again. I Bayrunner up to BWI.
ReplyDeleteYou’re the idiot that stayed in Philly for 12 hours when it’s a 3-4 hour car ride
DeleteI drive my own car to BWI. I’m not paying Bayrunner $73 each way, there and back, between Salisbury and BWI.
DeleteI fly in and out of SBY a lot and really appreciate the convenience. I literally can’t wait for Covid restrictions to be lifted so I can get back in the air
ReplyDeleteVeatch was also well aware of the rumors and reading the tea leaves that American Airlines is going to shutdown Piedmont Airlines.
DeleteWell I live in Kilburnie (in back of the airport) and there are no jets departing or arriving at the Salisbury airport. It's been this way for months now. My wife and I were just discussing whether or not they are still in business (Piedmont).
ReplyDeletePiedmont’s jets cant takeoff or land on the 5,000’ runway 5-23. Runway 5/23 is the runway aligned over Kilburnie. Piedmont’s jets can and do takeoff and land on the 6,400’ runway 14-32. This is the runway that runs pretty much parallel to Mount Hermon Road.
DeleteWhat about Piedmont's prop planes?
DeleteFaulting AA/USair/Piedmont is ridiculous. One only need understand the spoke/hub rationale of the airline industry. The Regionals take passenger traffic to the mainline hubs so passengers from all around the system who share a common destination have one point of origin. The planning involved is huge and affected by unknowns such as weather and mechanical issues. The airlines have no control over weather in PHL; safety is of main concern and low visibility and severe conditions prevent safe flying.
ReplyDeleteI thought people went on family medical leave when issues like those reported. Then they would use up any annual leave they had. Something doesn't appear quite right here but I do wish her and her family good luck.
ReplyDeleteShe could not take the Heat & had to get out of the kitchen !!!!
ReplyDelete11:14- do you now feel better that you have had the opportunity to make a comment about this? I do not know this person or anyone at the airport, but it is unwarranted for you to make commentary.

8:45 I call bs! usscare aa piedmont henson whatever you want to call it, has /was given a sweetheart deal for hangars and free landing rights. Couldn't tell you how many times they scrapped flights out of there and left people stranded over the years. incompetence was the main reason. I remember when John leonard couldn't get an aircraft to make a meeting in washington back in the day, so he had them switch his broken aircraft with another and left all those paying folks stranded. bottom line it was never a viable operation without the sweetheart deals and subsidies! still isn't! if you really need to be there, drive to baltimore and take a flight out of there. Philly with it's union thugs run chaos at phils airport! if there plan on driving home!
ReplyDeleteShe saw how Corrupt the county is & wanted No part of it !!!
