Narrative:
On May 1, 2020 at approximately 2253 hours, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in reference to a stabbing victim in the emergency room.
Upon arrival, a 14-year old stabbing victim, who will be referred to by his/her initials to as "LS" was encountered suffering from a stab wound to his/her upper torso.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that one of “LS's” brothers was engaged in a verbal altercation with a male subject identified as Steven Maurice Easley [hereinafter referred to as “Easley”] in front of a residence in the 900 block of Powhatan Boulevard.
While this altercation was occurring, the mother of "LS" attempted to intervene in order to stop the altercation. During the altercation, the mother was assaulted by Easley who knocked her to the ground. While the mother was attempting to get herself off the ground, "LS" and another one of his/her brothers than began to engage in a physical altercation with Easley for assaulting their mother.
At some point during this altercation, one brother of “LS” observed Easley to be in possession of a knife. This brother then hears the knife strike the pavement during the scuffle between “LS” and Easley.
Prior to the mother being able to get herself up off the pavement, it was learned Easley enters the vehicle he arrived in and accelerates in the mother’s direction in attempt to intentionally run her over with the vehicle. The mother advised Easley swerved in her direction just narrowly missing running her over. The mother stated she was within just a few feet of being run over.
At the conclusion of the scuffle and Easley fleeing the scene, “LS” enters his/her residence where he/she then noticed he/she had been stabbed by Easley after seeing blood on his/her shirt. Once observing that he/she is stabbed, his/her mother and her fiancĂ©e transport “LS” to PRMC for treatment.
Once interviews were completed, an application for statement of charges against Easley was submitted to the District Court commissioner’s office. An arrest warrant was issued for Easley.
