Nursing home records eight covid-19 deaths

All eight of Worcester County’s coronavirus-related deaths have been at the Berlin Nursing Home. It has recorded 19 staff cases and 45 resident cases.

Worcester County has reached 181 cases and eight deaths, according to the Maryland Health Department. This is an increase of 54 from last week.

According to the Worcester County Health Department, most of the deaths have been women in their 80s. One of the deaths was probable – the individual was never tested.

There are 98 cases in the Berlin and Ocean Pines 21811 zip code, 16 cases in the Ocean City 21842 zip code, 17 in the Snow Hill 21863 zip code and 49 in the Pocomoke City 21851 zip code.

A zip code must have at least eight cases to be listed.

Ninety-six people have been released from public monitoring. Worcester has conducted 1,717 coronavirus tests.

  1. I’m surprised people aren’t talking about air filters in places like these. Large clusters of cases are in nursing homes and lower income apartment complexes. Most common air filters will only filter dust and animal dander. Check the ratings on them. All of these places share recycled air throughout the building. So no matter what they do to distance or isolate they are still going to come in contact with it if they are using cheaper air filters and one person in the building is sick

  2. Maryland has the same policy as NY. You must take them. Hospitals should never let them leave until healthy. Nursing Homes are not set up for it. Half of all death in America and nyc are nursing homes. WHY.

  3. I don't know if that nursing home got any better but it used to be horrible. Years ago we were talked into putting our father in there for rehab after a small stoke. He got there before we did and when we got there it stunk so bad we were gagging. there was no way we were leaving our father there to live in that stench. Animal shelters don't smell as bad. We then made arrangements for rehab at health south and got him the hell out of there. I don't know how anyone could allow a family member to live in such stench. I have since been in other nursing homes and some stink and some don't. So if the place stinks they must not be doing a good job overall of keeping the place clean.

    Amen!

Someone is not following protocol if there are 19 staff cases and 45 resident cases.

I was sick in January and no one else in the house got it because I distanced my self and sanitized everything I touched.

If I can do it, so can they.
