Other Local Media Sources Trying To Convince The Public Salisbury's Downtown Construction Is A Good Thing

Oh let's cut the BS. Businesses are leaving in desperation. Yet local media sources are trying to make it sound like there's a prize at the end of the day. No there's not! Many of these businesses have mortgages and have no choice but to stick it out or lose their property. Kuhns Jewelers was Downtown for ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY YEARS! They had to pack up and get the hell out of there.

It's the INFRASTRUCTURE Mayor Jake Day is replacing. Water and sewer lines. There will be nothing better about Downtown. You'll still have parking meters and guess what, LESS PARKING when all is said and done. And they have't even made it to the Downtown Plaza.

The media is putting lipstick on a pig. Salisbury Maryland is a crime infested dump with a corrupt police department and yes, even a states attorneys office.

Please, do tell me how all this construction will improve business when it's complete in a couple years. What will be so interesting that people will have this undying desire to come Downtown. This should get interesting.

  1. It will be nice downtown in about 10 years when the work is complete. Be patient. When there is graft and corruption involved, construction takes longer. But the Gilkerson Family (owners of that little town) will do a good job. They are good at what they do, they just insist on making more money than normal. So the good old boys help them out.

  2. Tried to park and have lunch at Market Street last week and it was impossible. Everything except the garage and a few spaces in the gated lot are now exclusively for parking by holders of city issued permits.

  4. Don't know what all is getting fixed but the sewer system badly needed fixing

  5. I think running businesses out of town has been their plan all along. It is the only logical explanation..then the properties will be bought for cheap by the town and used for government and of course welfare housing.

  6. Jake and his band of ferry's aren't thinking about business they think they have taxpayers carte blanche to create a social Haven to sprinkle their ferry dust all summer long downtown

  7. Look to see who is waiting for them to leave so that they can move in. Mayor Weasel is making his own little SJW utopia downtown. I am sure he has plenty of his Demonrat friends waiting in the wings to open "progressive" businesses in the vacated spaces.

  8. So we shouldn’t replace the aging infrastructure? Before it crumbles away?

BTW. I think you meant Fairy Dust.

  9. How many times and how much money are they going to sink into a handful of businesses before the public finally wises up? I don’t see any effort to revive any other vacant shopping centers, hell, the old mall had its rumble there for years without even being cleaned up (what an eyesore) while business declined in the nearby shopping center. Replacing the sewer lines might help the prehistoric roach problem but the real pest still remains, an elected government that caters to their friends best interests.

  10. The plan all along was to run all the old, whether it be businesses or citizens out of town and create this moral decay that is salisbury. With your tranny fest and drag queen garbage comes the drug and alcohol addictions. My question is where are all the so called conservative leaders, both business and religious? You all are as phoney Jake Day sitting back afraid to speak up scared you might offend people. To ALL you so called churches in Salisbury that support Day what Bible are you studying from?

    1. I really wanted a few inches of snow this winter to see how Waverly Drive would be plowed.as a snow emergency route it would be among the roads requiring it be plowed. Would the plow blades break or would all the bike lane speed bumps be sent flying through the air by the plows? Guess I'll have to wait till next year.

  12. Let's see Jake rush to get downtown cleaned up for the festival like the last two, everything is deplorable and then just before the festival the orange highway cans disappear and they take down the makeshift fences, and all the road construction and as soon as the Festival is over it's back to dump city. I hope Jake's wife goes to jail and it hits the papers and news all over Maryland, the Day family can eat a lot of crow then.

    1. It is suppose to be a town center? Amazon is destroying all shopping malls - just look around in any city - rich or poor. Now if you have an apartment complex with a grocery store in the building but the day's of attracting people to small down town city are over.

  15. The good ole boys like jakey poo and Gilkersons make the work go on for a reason. they want to run business out of downtown, then they can swoop in and buy the properties for pennies on the dollar.

  16. It was the END when they could not even find financing to save the Boulevard Theater. Cafo owned most the theaters along the shore ran them into the ground and divided them up into multi screen dollar theaters before just letting go of them.

  17. Downtown and the plaza are in the "Central Business District" and part of the "Chesapeake Bay Critical Area" according to the zoning map. https://salisbury.md/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/SalisburyMDZoningMap112912.pdf

Downtown does not meet the code of ordinances for parking space requirements, per https://library.municode.com/md/salisbury/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=TIT17ZO_CH17.196OREPALOST

A barbershop would require 2 spaces per barbers chair.
An office would require 1 per every 400 square feet of gross floor area, etc.

If we were to add up every office, barbershop, church, restaurant and Apartment.. theirs not enough parking (open to the public) even in the parking garage! and there were plans on building on the free public parking next to the library AND building a 13 or 14 floor apartment building called the Ross near the old chamber of commerce building!

    There's no place to park!!!!

Well he just got his Social Justice Warrior friend, the fat pig Michele Gregory, on the city council to help him ruin downtown Salisbury. She is close friends with Manure Bota, you know the same Manure Bota who is Vice President of the Wicomico County Republican Central Committee. The same Republican Central Committee who supports and endorses Douche Bag Socialist Democrats like Jake Day. You dumb a$$ idiots keep voting for damn RINO's and they are ruining our city, county and state.
