As 2020 campaigns struggle to earn every delegate possible, Rep. Jackie Speier urged candidates to stay home and avoid a possible coronavirus outbreak.
Large events around the nation are being put on hold as states scramble to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In a tweet posted Monday afternoon, Speier argued that campaign events should follow suit.
“Until we know the extent of the community spread of the coronavirus, I call on ALL candidates for President to stop holding public rallies & large scale events. The CDC has been absolutely clear, people should not congregate in large groups,” the California Democrat tweeted. “The candidates must lead by example!”

It's not bad advice... but nothing is gonna stop the stumping on either side I think.
ReplyDeleteIt also seems political advice too.. Trump is able to rally very large crowds, it would impact that..
This isn't good for Trump who has been running on a good economy (really he means stock market) and the market is getting bashed by this outbreak. He has attempted to redirect any responsibility by putting Pence in charge, after Trump got rid of and didn't replace the folks in government to handle Pandemics, and now it's too late... this isn't boding well for the President.
If he continues to have rallies it will look irresponsible, especially when he has all ready tried to downplay the numbers and facts on this outbreak. If he doesn't wanna get totally shellacked because of a virus he needs to start playing ball.... his usual tactics won't fly on something like this.
Conversely, this isn't good for democrats who usually represent large populated areas (cities) where the virus is more likely to spread.
Either way... avoiding large rallies of people is good advice... I just don't see any team following it.
Isn't it funny how it mostly goes after Rich people and politicians lol.

ReplyDeleteLike all those people in China?
Take the tin foil hat off. Viruses aren't bio engineered to target specific people, and they don't care who you are or your financial status.
And while YES it has a higher mortality rate than the flu... it is still WILDLY inefficient at killing people... those who die have pre-existing ailments.
Well I guess the dems can continue their events, since they only draw about a dozen or so people.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Dems lose big in November they'll have another excuse for their failures.
