Actually, not a bad thing. If our numbers are like Italy, then we’ll have 21,000 cases by the end of the month. With a 1% mortality rate, that’s 200 deaths. Nobody wants anyone to die, but many more die of the flu. Italy is starting to get a handle on this, so we will too, by the end of the month.

ReplyDeleteInformative chart, let's hope 10:27 pm optimistic tone is on target ! In reality when this hits big Doctors will have to decide who will get a ventilator and who will die. In the meantime - eat, drink and be merry.
ReplyDelete10:27pm You are right that the estimated mortality rate in USA is 1% (it might actually be as low as 0.5%). But you are spreading lies if you are implying that Covid-19 will kill fewer people than the common flu. Estimates from infectious disease experts put the total final number of infected --- in the USA alone! --- will be between 70 million and 200 million. Even using the lower fatality number of 0.5% this means an estimated 350,000 to 1,000,000 fatalities. Using the higher fatality number of 1.0% it would be twice that: 700,000 to 2,000,000. The common flue only kills between 45,000 to 60,000 each year.
ReplyDeleteInfectious disease experts agree --- this virus is 5x to 10x more deadly than the common flue! Get your head out of the sand and read some reputable news from real experts!
