'If Donald Trump won't talk to Iran, someone should.' Democratic senator Chris Murphy reveals he met Tehran's foreign minister and brushes aside criticism by Mike Pompeo

Sen. Chris Murphy on Tuesday defended a weekend meeting he held with Iran's foreign minister in Europe, after his actions were questioned in conservative media and as President Donald Trump suggested they may have violated U.S. law.

The Connecticut Democrat said his Saturday meeting with Mohammed Javad Zarif was important because it is 'dangerous not to talk to one's enemies.'

Murphy said he wanted to see Zarif because there has been no U.S. diplomatic channel with Iran since Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal two years ago.

  2. It is not for our senators to set, make or conduct diplomatic contact with any foreign country without being explicitly asked to do so. In my opinion he committed treason by contacting a foreign nation hostile to this country! There is no gray line here.

  5. I think congress is immune from being prosecuted while in office, I hope with the exception of treason. Now you know why most of congress try's to stay in for life.....because their life depends on it. There should be a list for each member so we can see who and what to charge them with when they dont get re-elected.

  7. Murphy you are a total hypocrite...so it's ok to talk to the enemy IF you're a corrupt DEM, but not ok for POTUS to talk to Putin. Good grief man, how stupid is that...we the people have your number and there should be some accountability for what you did.

For your own good, you really, really need to move to some other country where you agree with the laws (and taxes). There are laws and taxes in every country. Good Luck!
