On Feb. 28, 2020, Dr. Robin DiAngelo delivers the keynote speech at the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in Atlanta, Georgia. DiAngelo has become “perhaps the country’s most visible expert in anti-bias training.” She is also the author of a best-selling book on “why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism.”
The answer, she says, is “white fragility,” defined as “a state in which even a minimum amount of racial stress becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves.” This “racial stress” is the direct result of “implicit bias,” which runs so strong in white people that it is a core reason racism persists in America. This claim is based on a worldview, advanced by an increasingly influential field called Whiteness Studies, that racism is inseparable from the reign of Whiteness.
Whiteness is seen as a central pillar of society. What is Whiteness? It is hard to say, but the basic idea is that all the institutions of society are “white”—made by white people, ruled by white people, and kept in place by white people to make sure that white people continue to benefit from “white privilege.” These institutions are infected by white supremacy, a result of the long arc of racism in American history. Whiteness works through implicit bias, which refers to a whole range of unconscious behaviors, speech, and beliefs that keep white supremacy in place.

Northwest Woodsman: When I graduated from high school in 1960, this country was predominantly of one race A fact that can not be disputed. Also what is not disputed is that violent crime was extremely rare and racial issues almost nonexistent. Since the mid 1960s with the passage of the civil rights act and later, the Immigration Act, things have incrementally gotten worse with regard to crime and violence. I can attest to this as can others my age. By allowing what I call tribal marauders to live among us and roam the streets of our cities, you can see for yourself the result . We have the clash of minimally, three incomparable cultures who by being forced by government to integrate, has resulted in the intolerable situation we currently face. Integration, diversity, multiculturalism, affirmative action, and all the rest of the government contrived programs have been an abject failure but we are forced to praise them under subtle threat of personal risk if we don’t. The problem becomes more volatile day by day but it is so incremental that most, involved in their daily lives, don’t notice it. I reside on an island where the population is homogeneous with very few minorities. This location is representative of what America used to be like. I am a true recluse from the problems of the mainland and the country in general. I just sit out here and watch my formally great country slip slowly into the abyss of diversity and multiculturalism.
ReplyDeleteJust a bunch of gobbledegook. It is a tale told by an Idiot full of sound and fury, signifying nothing..
ReplyDeleteJUST MORE LIBERAL BS!
ReplyDeleteJust another over educated know nothing.
ReplyDeleteYep, total BS.
ReplyDeleteJust about all the white people I know have no problem with black people.
What we have a problem with is ANYONE who thinks fighting is the first step in solving problems, or prison time is a badge of honor, or having 3-5 kids and being unable to support them is acceptable, or having 3 generations of a family live on welfare is normal, or being unable to achieve ANYTHING unless someone continues to give things to you, or that selling cocaine is a pathway to success.
If you don't like stereotypes, quit fulfilling them.
Keep cheering.
White people, and and Asians, have proved themselves to be resilient, resourceful and dauntless in the face of challenge and adversity. Blacks on the other hand, have adopted a learned helplessness strategy to produce the most favorable reward ratio to effort expended. Truly a clever adaptation to maximize gain while minimizing investment.
ReplyDeleteBut point out the inadvisability of this as a long term strategy and they get irrationally irritated, and fall apart. Classic black fragility.
Thank you ex president POS Obama! This country did not have a drop in the bucket compared to now, of racial unrest and problems that you created during your stint as POS so-called president. It all began with you and you continue to instigate from the sidelines now. You wrecked this country in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe freaking "intellectuals" will never figure out that "racism" is an innate part of human nature. Always has been from the beginning of mankind, and always will be, as long as we remain human. Races will always seek security and companionship with their own kind. All races, not just black & white. It is folly to think otherwise. It cannot be overcome through legislation or behavioral modification. But it's always the intellectuals that are driving wedges between us. Inside, they are racists too.

ReplyDeleteWith a racist attitude like yours, it's a wonder you survived being a cop. You should have been disqualified long ago. How many times did you pull your weapon on a black suspect? How many white ones did you pull your weapon on? The answers will indicate just how racist you are (if you could possibly tell the truth, but I doubt it). You've admitted it time and time again how you "feared for your life" when dealing with black suspects, in justifying your use of the weapon when stopping black drivers (but not white ones). You need some serious self reflection in how you treated people while in a position of authority. Stay a recluse. It's safer and better for all of us.
@1:00 No it wouldn't you pseudo-intellectual reject. It would show nothing more than how many black criminals he encountered as opposed to white ones.
