Comment from a Reader

Joe-- I was riding around the other day and happened to see a sticker like this on the back of an SUV in front of me. We sat at a light, and I had time to look at it for a moment and think. It was actually the first time I had seen this, and I was all in-- things have gotten so far out of hand, and some people have become downright mean for seemingly no reason.

Later at home, I thought, 'I'd like to have one of those-- that's a good thing to encourage.'

So I researched it, and I discovered that this has been out there since 2016.. since Mr. Trump was elected. And that it was all over liberal vehicles, t-shirts and websites.

But as we look back.. who exactly are the ones who have not been very kind since then? Who are the ones beating on children wearing red hats, and crashing vehicles into displays of conservative literature, and disrupting rallies and events that they disagree with? Running people out of restaurants and screaming and fussing outside their houses in the middle of the night?

I still want one of these, because we need it now more than ever. But I want a red and white one. And I hope the people who are acting out their rage and disappointment over unreasonable expectations that weren't met will read it, and just take a deep breath, and settle down some.

I remember when the police used to hand out little stuffed animals to traumatized children.. maybe we need some of those, too.

I hope some of the folks who comment on this blog will also take a moment to take a deep breath before posting. People are frustrated.. EVERYBODY is frustrated. But hopefully we can use this space to discuss things without having to get evil about it-- without getting vicious and personal, calling people morons and idiots and talking to them like they're stupid. We don't need to do that, do we? Does it help in any way?

We can be the ones that begin to "Make America Kind Again." One person at a time.

I'll start with me. Will you start with you?

God bless you real good today!

  3. This is great and YES, everyone should do this. Where can I get a red and white one? Thank you for putting this in today's news. Maybe you can put it in another day just to remind the people.

  4. You have a great day, too. I like your way of thinking. To begin the kindness it would suggest it never hurts to be polite and mannerly. Something many of us have forgotten! Great idea.

  5. Hi Joe, unrelated, but maybe you could look into why Mitch McConnell denied a bill allowing medicare to negotiate with big pharma saving our elderly and those in need potentially millions. Then he receives tens of thousands in donations from pharma companies. Once again the american people are put behind the almighty dollar.

  6. Why turn this into another partisan thing? Keep it neutral, not red or blue, and hopefully it will catch on here in the UNITED STATES?!

  7. I really don't know how to be kind when people call you names in the grocery store line because you are not moving fast enough for them. I hold my tongue, but if looks could kill, they would be dead. Rude, very rude people out there these days. I'm moving as fast as I can, they don't know that and don't care, but just because it aggravates them, and they call names, I move even slower.

  9. I'm tired of being nice to some people. They are just plain rude and ignorant and will never change. I treat them the way that they treat me

  10. 10:23 must be a Dumbocrat.....look at what they, Dumbocrats, have attached with 98% of the bills being held up......DACA pieces, abortion pieces, criminals voting, limits to Presidential authority, etc. etc. etc. Every bill the house has approved PUSHED to the Senate has garbage attached!! Read the bills, not the titles only Nancy! Now the topic.....America has always been kind, lack of parents teaching respect at home is why it seems unkind!

  11. Little stuffed animals for the democrats with TDS. How appropriate for adults acting like children. I love it!

  12. Years ago the Worcester County Tea Party donated stuffed animals to the Sheriff's department. Then Deputy Crisfulli was dispatched by Sheriff McDermott to collect the prizes. Imagine that!

  13. SMH - only people who visit this site would make a movement to be kind, political. Practically everything has some political tie to it. Just be kind and stop saying one group is better than another.

"Intentionally moving slower because it aggravates them." My, you are indeed the rude one, not them. Everybody knows the people like you that go around and intentionally aggravate other people. And we all have names for people like that. You DESERVE to be called names. You are rude and obnoxious. I bet you smell bad too. You should keep your nasty antisocial attitude to yourself.

Both parties are guilty of the practice you describe. It is how bills get passed, and riders get put on them that wouldn't pass by themselves. Happens with every bill. It's why the committee members have so much power. Everyone else has to come to them to get their pet projects attached to a bill that has already got the votes to pass. Want to get really irate? Take a political science class and see how the "normal" process works.
