BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- Former Mayor Catherine Pugh was sentenced Thursday to 3 years behind bars for a scheme involving the sale of her children's book, Healthy Holly.
She plead guilty in November to federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and two counts of tax evasion. The charges all stem from the so-called “Healthy Holly” scandal, which first broke in February of 2019.
The Healthy Holly books were written and published between 2011 and August of 2017, and were sold directly to non-profits and foundations that either did business, or were seeking to do business with either the State of Maryland, or Baltimore City. The indictment reports that Pugh enlisted the help of Gary Brown, Jr., a legislative aide who later followed Pugh to Baltimore City Hall following her election in December of 2016, to help in promoting and distributing the books.

She got off easy as far as I'm concerned - shoulda got ten years!
ReplyDeleteShe deserved the 57 months.
ReplyDeleteOf course, she still may have federal charges upcoming.
Now let's see what juicy smallness gets ?
ReplyDeleteWow. I was NOT expecting that.
ReplyDeleteCome on she was just doing it for the children
ReplyDeleteThe rest of Baltimore politians should be in jail. They are criminals.
ReplyDeleteShe only gets 3 years (36 months) for defrauding the taxpayers, where Roger Stone was sentenced to 40 months for process crimes! Double Standard at its finest! Time for that New Civil War
ReplyDeleteI want to see her arrest pic ?

DeleteNorthwest Woodsman: Yup, diversity is genuinely our strength, right? How many Maryland black politicians have to go to prison before someone stands up for old fashioned honesty and integrity? I’m really sick of watching these issues develop so predictably.

ReplyDeleteBlacks majority cities get to elect their leaders, and their leaders are criminals. Go figure. There might be a correlation.

ReplyDeleteJust stay where you are and quit stressing over Baltimore and Maryland politics. Stay holed up and isolated in the woods with all the other kooks and hermits. You're as far away as you can get from Maryland politics and their politicians. Why do you care, and why does it make you sick, when you don't have a dog in the hunt? I guess your retirement is boring. Maybe you have a hint of cabin fever.
