OXFORD, Ohio — It is wait-and-see time in Ohio, where there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus. But that lack of confirmation does not mean there's a lack of concern about the possibility.
Health officials have tested two Miami University students who recently traveled to China. There have been more than 100 deaths from the illness in that country. Both Miami students have been isolated off campus as they await word about test results.
Most other students are going about their daily routines in normal fashion. There are some wearing face masks, both on campus and in Uptown.
Freshman Kate Goodwin told us: "I've thought about it. But I mean, unless the tests come back positive, then I don't -- I'm not necessarily, like, super-worried right now until, like, we find out more information."
Bing Yue and Yuang Chen, both juniors, wear masks at times even though health authorities have stated it's not necessary.
Miami conducted classes and events as scheduled Wednesday. Students checked their smartphones seemingly nonstop.
"It's all over social media," said Justin Devilbiss, another freshman. "There's memes everywhere, Twitter, TikTok."
