Bernie and the Democrats: How Anger Makes You Stupid

In case you missed it, or are exclusively a reader of the New York Times, late last week Bernie Sanders tweeted this nugget: "Fossil fuel executives should be criminally prosecuted for the destruction they have knowingly caused."

No, that wasn't The Onion or The Babylon Bee. It was the real deal. The always-furious Vermont senator wants to incarcerate the very people who are responsible for keeping the lights on and the air conditioners running in the operating rooms of almost every hospital, not only in America but across the globe. And that's just the beginning of the myriad necessities of human life provided for at this point in human history by these supposed criminals in the eyes of the self-described democratic socialist of the multiple houses and private jets.

Crazy, no? Crazy, yes. Crazier than the proverbial hoot owl. And mighty angry.

When State Governors Tried To Take Back Control Of The National Guard

A West Virginia state lawmaker plans to re-introduce a bill next session that would require Congress declare war or call forth the state militia before the West Virginia National Guard could be released from state control and sent into combat.Currently, as The Intelligencer (of Wheeling) puts it: "the authority to activate the Guard rests with West Virginia’s governor."

But this doesn't quite describe the reality. State governors are expected to send state National Guard troops wherever and whenever the Pentagon orders.

So, in recent decades, whenever states or governors have attempted to have some say over what the Pentagon does with state troops, the Department of Defense has responded with threats.

Troopers Arrest Newark Woman for Assault – Bear

Bear – The Delaware State Police have charged 19 year old Jada Blake of Newark, with multiple offenses including felony assault, stemming from an altercation that took place in the drive-thru lane of a Bear area restaurant.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 in the drive thru lane of the Chik-fil-a, located at 1101 Quintillo Dr., Bear. Blake was the operator of a vehicle that was waiting in the drive-thru lane when another vehicle, operated by a 21 year old female, attempted to pull in front of her. Upon making contact with the other driver Blake began striking her in the head and face through her open window. The altercation then continued outside the vehicle at which time Blake intentionally kicked the victim in the abdomen, knowing that the victim was pregnant. After the altercation Blake returned to her vehicle and continued to wait for drive-thru service.

Responding Troopers located Blake still in the drive-thru lane and took her in to custody without incident. The female victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and for evaluation.

2020 Democrats shouldn't expect union endorsements for a while

Organized labor is in no hurry to back a 2020 Democrat.

There are several reasons, including the bulky field of candidates, many of whom have long records supporting unions. They want to back somebody with a strong, or at least decent chance, of beating President Trump in fall 2020. The June 2018 Janus v. AFSCME decision, which ended compelled union dues for public employees, also plays into the slower-than-usual approach.

"I think it's pretty clear to those in the labor movement that defeating Trump is the most important thing. Jumping into a messy primary can be a waste of resources," said Rebecca Kolins Givan, an associate professor in the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations. "They've learned that early endorsements aren't the smartest path to advance policy interests and are instead focusing specifically on policies and finding candidates who are behind those policies." That includes a federal $15 minimum wage and bills like "card check" proposals, which critics say would eliminate secret ballots in union elections.

Joe Arpaio is looking to get back in the saddle again as the former Arizona sheriff said Sunday that he plans to run for the position he lost in 2016.

The former Maricopa County sheriff, who was pardoned last year by President Trump for a federal contempt-of-court conviction, pledged to enforce his tough on crime polices in a statement.

“Watch out world! We are back!” Arpaio said. “I will continue to stand and fight to do the right thing for Arizona and America, and will never surrender. Those who break the law will have to deal with this Sheriff.”

Former Kirsten Gillibrand staffers want senator to quit presidential campaign

It’s time for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s sputtering presidential campaign to call it quits, a friend of hers and two former aides told The Post.

“It would be best if she decided that this was not her time,” said one longtime Gillibrand fundraiser, who claimed the Democratic contender’s well-heeled supporters want her to remain in the US Senate.

“Most people that I talk to are very happy with her as their senator and don’t want her to give up her Senate seat and don’t see any realistic traction for her.”

As Gillibrand struggles to get 130,000 individual donors to qualify for the third Democratic debate in Houston next month, it’s unclear if she’s hearing the message from those who have worked with her.

College professor: 'I affirm that I am antifa'

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -- Complaints against Kirkwood professor Jeff Klinzman, who professes support for a militant leftist group called "Antifa", is opening a debate over free speech on college campuses.

Antifa is a group that has been behind several violent protests nationwide. Their name is short for Anti-Fascist and is a movement focused on physically fighting far-right and white supremacist groups.

The FBI has monitored the group and President Donald Trump is threatening to designate it as a domestic terrorist organization.

Klinzman, who has worked as an adjunct English professor at Kirkwood since January 2010, tells the I9 investigative team, "I affirm that I am 'antifa'". Klinzman declined to take part in an interview with I9 citing safety concerns but said in an email he makes no apology for what he has posted online.

Drop out factor: Democrats who scrapped presidential campaigns (so far) are all white men

Democrats are rapidly tossing out white men from the party’s crowded field of presidential hopefuls.

So far, five of the major candidates in the Democratic race have called it quits and all of them are white men.

The trend caught the eye of Democratic strategist Christy Setzer. She said she saw two commonalities among the dropouts: “White men who haven’t caught on in the polls, and those who still have clear opportunities to run for a different office and don’t want to miss the window.”

The latest dropout was Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, a Marine veteran who hoped his youth, moderate politics and foreign-policy chops would make him an ideal foil to President Trump. But his run never caught fire and he barely registered in the polls.

'Horrifying and outrageous': Holocaust survivor fights Alameda eviction

Musiy Rishin is running out of options.

The elderly Alameda resident's pending eviction from his home of 17 years was brought to the nation's attention earlier this week when the Guardian reported that his landlords, Margaret and Spencer Tam, wanted to replace him with tenants who can afford higher rent.

On Aug. 14, 2018, Tam notified Rishin and his now-deceased son that their rent at the Dunes Apartments on Shoreline Drive would be increased by nearly $700. Prior to that, their Section 8 vouchers – which subsidize rent for low-income tenants – were allowing them to pay $2,520. But before they had a chance to respond, the Guardian reports, another letter was sent by the Tams two weeks later: Rishin and his son were being evicted, and had 90 days to find a new place.

"The fact that Margaret Tam should be able to eke out more profit ... It's horrifying and outrageous," said Sarah McCracken, a tenants' rights lawyer at Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland. She is representing Rishin as the case moves through the courts. "I mean, he's an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor. It's an example of the larger housing crisis at hand."

Idaho must provide gender confirmation surgery to inmate Adree Edmo

IDAHO — The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled the state of Idaho must provide gender confirmation surgery to Adree Edmo-- an inmate housed at the Idaho Department of Corrections, according to Boise State Public Radio.

That means Edmo will be the first transgender inmate in the country to receive the surgery through a court order.

Based on Edmo's diagnosed gender dysphoria, a panel of judges agreed with Federal District Judge B. Lynn Winmill's ruling in Edmo's favor. They argued that not providing the surgery would be a violation of the Eighth Amendment.

As we previously reported , Idaho attempted to appeal the ruling, an action led by Gov. Brad Little during his first weeks in office.

Importance of patriotism, God, and children plummets among young people: Poll

The importance of patriotism, faith in God, and having children is significantly lower among millennials and Generation Z, compared to previous generations.

In a new poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, nearly 80% of people aged 55-91 said being patriotic is important to them, while only 42% of millennials and Generation Z, or those aged 18-38, said the same. Thirty percent of millennials and Generation Z said religion was important, compared to the over 75% of baby boomers, with just over 30% of millennials and Generation Z saying it was important to have children.

Areas where the younger generations had placed higher importance compared to boomers were tolerance for others and self-fulfillment, with financial security being almost tied between the two age groups.

New Jersey Shells Out $4 Million In College Financial Aid To Illegal Immigrant Students

Perhaps one of the stranger things about leftists is not only their refusal to admit that there is a border crisis but their willful ignorance of how the problem affects the rest of the country. For example, New Jersey now has such a large number of illegal immigrants that the state allows college-aged students from these families to apply for financial aid if they attend school in-state. During the state's first year offering the money, New Jersey spent more than $3.8 million on undocumented students during the 2018-2019 academic year.

USA Today reports that "that 749 students in total received the aid during both the fall and spring semesters of the 2018-19 school year. Most of the aid, more than $3.5 million, was awarded under the New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant, or TAG, program."

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed the law in May of 2018. It expanded the Tuition Equality Act to include students without legal status who have attended high school "for three or more years and either graduated from a New Jersey high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma in New Jersey."

G-7 day one: CNN's Acosta suggests Trump responsible for racism in Europe

As world leaders gathered in France for the G-7 summit, CNN panelists sharply criticized President Trump for multiple policy stances.

Jim Acosta, 48, who has been at odds with Trump on several occasions, indicated that the president would likely feud with French President Emmanuel Macron, who Acosta does not believe shares Trump's opinion on nationalism. Speaking of Macron's Nov. 11 speech in Paris to honor the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Acosta claimed that Macron was speaking antagonistically to Trump.

"It was a very strongly worded rebuke of President Trump's brand of populism and nationalism that has obviously swept across the United States but is now making its way across Europe," Acosta said. "It is a very big and worrisome trend in Europe."

'He's scared of us': Rashida Tlaib says Trump feels threatened by 'the squad'

Michigan congresswoman Rashida Tlaib asserted that President Trump is threatened by her and other ultra-liberal congresswomen often referred to as "the squad."

Tlaib was speaking out after her trip to Israel was abruptly canceled earlier this month.

"It’s been very clear to me, especially this last week, that he’s scared of us,” Tlaib said. “He’s afraid of women of color … because we’re not afraid of him and we’re not afraid to speak up and say that we have a white supremacist in the White House who has a hate agenda. He’s afraid because we have a real agenda for the American people."

MAJOR Fentanyl Shipment from China Seized in Mexico

The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (La Secretaría de Marina–SEMAR) has reported a major fentanyl seizure believed to be of multi-ton in the Mexican port city of Lázaro Cárdenas in the state of Michoacán.

The Mexican government announced the major fentanyl seizure of initially reported by local media outlets to be approximately 25.75 tons (23,368 kilograms or 51,517 pounds) of powdered fentanyl that originated in Shanghai China and was headed to Culiacán, Sinaloa, the home base for the Sinaloa Cartel. According to a government spokesperson, the seizure was a result of a joint operation led by the Mexican naval elements of the 10th naval zone and Lázaro Cárdenas customs enforcement personnel as reported by local media. Michoacán is located in western Mexico and has a stretch of coastline along the Pacific Ocean.

According to government authorities, investigators found the cargo inside a container of a Danish flagged vessel with a cargo manifest indicating that the contents consisted of Calcium Chloride. Authorities took a random sampling of the powdered substance to a specialized laboratory of Mexican Customs and the substance later tested positive for fentanyl.

Gaffe Machine: Biden Wrongly Claims 40 Students Were Shot at Kent State in 1970

The problem with Joe Biden isn't that he's a leftist. Every single Democrat is. No, the real problem with this guy is that he clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Politics, history, race relations... it doesn't matter. Imagine a subject and realize: Biden has little to no knowledge about it.

That would be perfectly fine if he were, say, a truck driver. Sadly, however, Biden is a) a former senator, b) a former vice president and c) the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

As we reported yesterday, Biden was in New Hampshire on Friday to promote his campaign. Sorry: to talk to voters. Ha. During that campaign stop, he made a couple of gaffes, among which was him saying that premiums would go up under his health care plan and him wondering what it would have been like if Barack Obama had been assassinated in 2008.

Conservative Latina Rises From The Heartland To Take On AOC In Congress

A 26-year-old conservative Latina from America's heartland announced last week that she is running for Congress to take on the far-left and to lead a new generation of Republicans that will be relentless and uncompromising in protecting the freedoms guaranteed to Americans in the U.S. Constitution.

Catalina Lauf, from Woodstock, Illinois, is a former Trump administration adviser who is running against Democrat Rep. Lauren Underwood in Illinois' 14th Congressional District. If elected, Lauf will be the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, breaking the record set by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018.

Lauf, who gave an interview to The Daily Wire about her candidacy, announced her run last week in a campaign ad that took aim at the identity politics pushed by media and the Democrat Party.

"My father is a small business owner who worked hard all of his life providing for his family," Lauf says in the video. "My mother is a legal immigrant from Guatemala who worked hard to escape poverty, corruption, and war to find freedom and opportunity here in the United States of America."
