Conundrum!
Conundrum.....
"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one. You'll probably never need one again."
The definition of the word Conundrum is: Something that is puzzling or confusing.
Here are six Conundrums of Socialism in the United States of America:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other Countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about, yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
7. Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math. By the way.....
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't.
Think about it... and pass it on.

Ocasio-Cortez Tries To Grill Former ICE Director. He Wrecks Her.
Former ICE Director Thomas Homan rendered socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez utterly speechless on Friday during a congressional hearing after the 29-year-old former bartender tried to grill him about immigration-related policies.
"It says the official recommendation, there were three different options presented, the third included the option for family separation," Ocasio-Cortez said. "This initiative would pursue prosecution of all amenable adults including those presenting with a family unit.
"Mr. Homan, your name is on this, is this correct?" Ocasio-Cortez asked.
"Yes, I signed that memo," Homan replied.

Carjacker beaten to death after stealing vehicle with small kids inside, police say
PHILADELPHIA — A man was killed after he stole a car that had three young children inside, CBS affiliate KYW reports.
The carjacking happened Thursday night outside a north Philadelphia pizza shop after the 25-year-old mom went inside where her 25-year-old boyfriend worked.
The mom left the engine running for the young children inside the car, including a 7-month-old, 1-year-old, and a 5-year-old. After the mom walked inside, police say a 54-year-old man hopped in the vehicle and drove off with it.
He got stuck in traffic, which allowed the couple to catch up to him. The suspect was pulled out of the vehicle and ran away.
The boyfriend reportedly caught up with the suspect, and he and other men from the neighborhood started to punch and kick him.

Property Rights Victory: Married Couple Allowed To Plant Vegetables In Their Own Front Yard Again
As limited government advocates frequently observe, the government interferes way too much in our lives.
Case in point: While common sense dictates that people ought to exercise control over their own yard, a Florida couple just recently regained the right to plant vegetables in their front yard after years of being prevented from doing so.
Hermine Ricketts and Tom Carroll grew their garden in their front yard because the backyard lacked proper sunlight, but after the local government changed a zoning code, they had to ditch the vegetables they cultivated to avoid a fifty dollar per-day fine.
But now the Florida legislature has now passed a law that prevents local governments from impinging on people’s right to grow vegetables in their own yard. The Miami Herald reported that “The new law was motivated by a legal battle going back to May 2013, when the Miami Shores Village Council amended its zoning code to prohibit front-yard vegetable gardens in the name of ‘protecting the distinctive character of Miami Shores Village.’ The couple either had to get rid of the vegetables or face fines of $50 per day.”

It's Hard To Have A Conversation With Kamala Harris When She Doesn't Even Know What She's Talking About
Sen. Kamala Harris is often heard on the campaign trail saying, "That's definitely a conversation I'd like to have," or some variation of it right before completely not answering whatever question she was asked. The 2020 Democratic candidate does it so much that the good folks over at the Washington Free Beacon were able to craft a supercut of her infamous catchphrase as early as April of this year. Perhaps, however, the reason Sen. Harris says she "would" like to have a conversation is that she literally does not know what she is speaking about, and therefore cannot actually properly discuss ideas. Maybe it is not a political tactic done simply to flounder out of a controversial debate, but a genuine plea for help.
This latest evidence for this occurred Friday on The View after Meghan McCain asked her to clarify her stance on whether or not illegal border crossing should remain a crime. The California senator flummoxed, stuttered, and flip-flopped all in the span of thirty seconds.

300K people are signed up to ‘Storm Area 51’ and ‘see them aliens’
The Clinton administration couldn’t get there. Russian spies tried and failed, too. But that won’t stop nearly 300,000 alien enthusiasts from gathering in Amargosa Valley, Nevada, with plans to invade top-secret military base Area 51, where conspiracy theorists believe the government is hiding information on extra terrestrial life.
The ironic Facebook event, dubbed “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us,” has nearly 365,000 confirmed attendees, and some 384,000 interested in the mission.
“We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry,” the event details read. “If we naruto run” — referring to the widely memed manga character — “we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.”

Teen, mom held without bail in killing of mechanic over bill
A St. Louis teen allegedly killed a mechanic who fixed his mom’s BMW — when the worker asked to be paid for the repairs, police said.
Isaiah Gholson, 17, is facing charges that include first-degree murder in the June 9 killing of 52-year-old mechanic Kerry Charley, who police say was shot after refusing to let Gholson and his mother, Ranada Anthony, take the luxury car home without paying for it, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, citing court documents filed Tuesday.
Charley’s sister told the newspaper that the father of three was shot five times in the chest after repairing the car at his home, where police said they were able to match the mechanic’s records to find that the vehicle was registered to Anthony.
“He was a very, very generous person,” said Charley’s sister, who identified herself only as Cindy. “He was always willing to help someone in need when it came to their vehicles. He loved working on cars, it was like a passion for him.”

Migrant Baby Boom: English Schools Need 418,000 Extra Places
English schools will need to find almost 420,000 extra school places over the next decade, due in part to a baby boom among migrant mothers.
The Department for Education has reported that, while its latest projections suggest that “Direct immigration of pupils born outside the UK has a very small effect on the school age population” compared to the birth rate, the birth rate “is in turn affected by any increase in the number of children born to non-UK born women (who overall tend to have higher fertility rates).”
A document explaining underlying methodology of the new figures explain that “Changes in the population who are of school age is largely driven by an increase in the birth rate rather than direct immigration,” for the most part, but “that birth rate is in turn affected by any increase in the number of children born to non-UK born women (compared to those born to non UK-born women).”

Epstein Accused Of Paying Witnesses $350K In Hush Money
Federal prosecutors allege in a new court filing that Jeffrey Epstein may have engaged in witness tampering by paying off two potential witnesses days before the Miami Herald began publishing a series of explosive exposés about the registered sex offender and his victims.
According to financial records, Epstein wired $350,000 to two 'possible co-conspirators' who could testify against him. $100,000 was wired from "Institution-1" to one person, while just three days later $250,000 was wired to another individual. Neither of the payments appear to be recurring based on five years of bank records.
Is one of the co-conspirators Ghislaine Maxwell?
The daughter of a British media barron, Maxwell was described by one Epstein accuser in a 2017 lawsuit as "the highest ranking employee" of his alleged enterprise, in which she was said to have managed both Epstein's household and his sex life.

College Admissions Are Rigged In Favor Of Prominent Democrats
If you’ve ever watched Chris Cuomo on CNN, you may have wondered, How did this guy get a TV show? He can barely speak English. There are nights when Cuomo emits entire paragraphs that mean nothing at all, just pure gibberish. Cuomo went to Yale, which has famously high admissions standards. Is Cuomo a secret genius? Does he have some amazing talent that’s invisible on TV? Maybe he speaks flawless Urdu or has a deep grounding in particle physics.
Actually, it turns out he has an even more impressive qualification: His father, Mario Cuomo, was the governor of New York. If you want to get into a top American college, the most effective credential of all is to have a parent who’s a well-known Democratic politician.
But don’t take our word for it. Ask Dante de Blasio, son of Bill de Blasio, the incompetent mayor of New York. There’s no evidence the younger de Blasio did remarkably well in high school. And yet, like Chris Cuomo, he somehow got into Yale. Once there, Dante de Blasio found himself surrounded by people just like himself: the thoroughly average children of other prominent liberals. That would include the offspring of at least three Democrats currently serving in the U.S. Senate: Michael Bennet, Amy Klobuchar and Sheldon Whitehouse. All of them sent kids to Yale.

Pennsylvanian Millennials Are Screwed: Have Most Student Debt, On Average, Than Any Other State
The student debt crisis is rapidly expanding, hitting a new record high of $1.6 trillion in 2019 and surpassing auto loans and credit card debt post-GFC. About 44 million Americans, or 20% of adults, have insurmountable student debts.
According to Douglas McIntyre with 24/7 Wall Street, who examined brand-new student loan data from LendEDU, told KYW Philadelphia that college graduates in Pennsylvania, on average, have highest student loan debts in the US, coming in at $36,000 per graduate.
There are some other notable things about the state, which is the number of graduates with debt is 67%, which is the fifth highest of all the states," McIntyre said.

Misrepresenting Themselves at the Border
It’s not just the number of individuals crossing our southwest border illegally that’s surging; it’s the number of families. But many of those “families” turn out not to be families at all, but frauds trying to exploit loopholes in federal immigration laws that allow families to avoid detention and deportation back to their native countries.
In May, the Border Patrol intercepted more than 144,000 illegal aliens. That was the largest monthly total in more than a dozen years.
From Oct. 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019, the Border Patrol apprehended almost 600,000 illegal aliens, of which family units and unaccompanied minors represented 66%, also a significant increase.

Protesters Remove U.S. Flag, Replace It With Mexican Flag Outside ICE Facility In Aurora
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)– Hundreds of protesters gathered in Aurora on Friday evening to march to the ICE detention facility where illegal and undocumented immigrants are being housed. They also removed the U.S. flag, replaced it with a Mexican flag, and spray painted graffiti on a Blue Lives Matter flag before it was seen flying upside down on the flag pole.
This comes before planned ICE raids in Denver and 10 other cities nationwide.
The protesters say they are demonstrating against the treatment of the people living inside. The Blue Lives Matter flag was vandalized with “Abolish ICE” in spray paint.
The original flags outside the ICE facility, including the U.S. flag and Colorado flag were placed on the flag poles after the crowd dispersed. The Mexican flag and spray painted Blue Lives Matter flag were removed.

John James Raises $1.5 Million in Less than a Month
Combat veteran, businessman, and Michigan GOP Senate candidate John James raised more than $1.5 million in just over three weeks, outpacing his opponent Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI).
James raised raised the funds over the month since he announced his candidacy on June 6th for U.S. Senate. An analysis shows Peters averaged $200,000 per week while James averaged $400,000 per week in average donations.
The Michigan Republican said in a statement Thursday:
“In less than a month, our grassroots army showed its strength and our momentum. Michiganders want change. We’re tired of career politicians failing us without consequence. We want leaders who do what’s best for us, not what’s best for themselves. This will be a different kind of campaign. We believe in service before self and we will demonstrate that in various ways throughout this campaign."

Empathy vs. Sympathy: What Is the Difference?
Is that “empathy” or “sympathy” you're showing? While the two words are often incorrectly used interchangeably, the difference in their emotional impact is important. Empathy, as the ability to actually feel what another person is feeling — literally “walk a mile in their shoes” — goes beyond sympathy, a simple expression of concern for another person’s misfortune. Taken to extremes, deep or extended feelings of empathy can actually be harmful to one’s emotional health.
Sympathy
Sympathy is a feeling and expression of concern for someone, often accompanied by a wish for them to be happier or better off. “Oh dear, I hope the chemo helps.” In general, sympathy implies a deeper, more personal, level of concern than pity, a simple expression of sorrow.
However, unlike empathy, sympathy does not imply that one’s feelings for another are based on shared experiences or emotions.
Empathy
As a translation into English of the German word Einfühlung — “feeling into” — made by psychologist Edward Titchener in 1909, “empathy” is the ability to recognize and share another person’s emotions.
Empathy requires the ability to recognize the suffering of another person from their point of view and to openly share their emotions, including painful distress.

USWNT isn’t the feel-good story we’re told they are
Perhaps I’m a party-pooper by nature and nurture. When I was a kid I heard the music from the ice cream truck then excitedly asked my father for a quarter.
“No,” he said, “they play that music when they’re out of ice cream.”
Unless you never heard that one, it’s an old one. Otherwise, it’s mine. But the risk of being condemned as a killjoy makes me defensive. “Our” team won, didn’t it? That’s what counts! USA! USA!
It’s a relentless insult: TV demands intelligent viewers ignore what they see to believe only what they’re told. Seconds after the US team won the Women’s World Cup on Sunday, Fox’s lead analyst Aly Wagner, former US World Cupper, gushed this:

Gov. Northam Wrote An Op-Ed After VA GOP Torched His Anti-Gun Push, He Should Have Just Shut His Face
Who the hell does this guy think he is? Does he think that the Men in Black came in overnight and used their “neuralyzer” to wipe people’s memories? Bro, we remember that you admitted to doing blackface, we know you’re nickname was “Coonman” at the Virginia Military Institute, and we know your yearbook photo at Eastern Virginia Medical School has one person in blackface and another in full Ku Klux Klan regalia—all of these photos were personally submitted by you. No one forgot about this, you idiot. No one. And if you weren’t a Democrat, you would’ve been kicked to the curb months ago. Your Attorney General also did blackface and your lieutenant governor is facing two charges of rape. The entire executive administration of this state is morally corrupt. Who cares what you think? Either way, you were the person in blackface or the Klan outfit. You were a grown adult and you should’ve resigned and spared the state the embarrassment. But you’re a power-hungry monster, you’re hoping that the Democrats can retake the legislature, which is a possibility, and you know, as a Democrat, you can get away with anything. So, I guess good for you for understanding the dynamics of your party and the allies you have in the media to give you miles of political cover. You’re still trash. I mean all Democrats are trash, but you sir, are a particularly heinous creature.
Did you think this political stunt this week was going to rehabilitate your character? Did you think that using the deaths of those killed in the tragic Virginia Beach shooting in May was going to be your saving grace? You need to have the moral authority to do that, governor. You don’t. You moonwalked that off the stage as soon as the photos were unearthed and you yourself confessed to donning blackface, which is widely seen as racist, for a dance competition in Austin, Texas back in the 1980s. Maybe you would’ve left until the next two clowns that could take over for you couldn’t for their own drama. This would have given Virginia’s governor’s mansion to the Republicans. So, you stay and now that the VA GOP nuked your special session on gun control, which included confiscatory policy initiatives, you take to the op-ed pages to try and shame lawmakers, tell them what their job is, and try to carry this holier-than-thou attitude because you wanted to respond to a mass shooting and hope this will wash away your blackface fiasco (via WaPo):

Pastor formerly imprisoned in Turkey 'astounded' by mounting hostility to Christian faith in U.S.
Andrew Brunson, the U.S. pastor who spent two years in a Turkish prison, said Friday he was “astounded” by the escalating hostility toward Christians in the United States, saying they have become the “target” of activists.
“I’m really astounded at the speed at which the U.S. is imploding,” said Mr. Brunson at the Western Conservative Summit, held annually by the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University.
Mr. Brunson, who was released from Turkish custody in October 2018 in response to pressure from the Trump administration, said it was “no longer enough” for Christians to get along with others with whom they disagree.
“It seems like there’s much more of a demand that people of faith approve of, that they validate, that they celebrate things they actually disagree with,” he said.

President Trump on social media bias: ‘They’re playing with a lot of minds’
President Donald J. Trump called out social media censorship and bias during a first-of-its-kind summit at the White House yesterday, warning that legislation could follow “if Silicon Valley doesn’t change its ways,” Mark Moore reports for the New York Post.
“I am directing my administration to explore all regulatory and legislation solutions to protect free speech and the free speech rights of all Americans — that’s you people in this room,” the President said at the Social Media Summit at the White House. “We hope to see transparency, more accountability and more freedom — that’s on both sides.”
President Trump recognized the attendees for challenging both the establishment media and corporate censors and bringing more information to light for the American people.

Europe: Massive Rise in Central American Asylum Seekers
The number of Central Americans claiming asylum in the European Union has massively increased as President Donald Trump has moved to tighten America’s southern border, with Venezuelans now the second-largest demographic of arrivals after Syrians.
According to Britain’s left-wing Guardian newspaper, the European Asylum Support Office is attributing an 11 per cent rise in political asylum claims over the last year to “people fleeing economic disasters, political repression and criminal violence in Venezuela, El Salvador, Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.”
Asylum claims by nationals of Venezuela, where the state socialist regime of Nicolas Maduro admired by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is becoming increasingly repressive, reached 18,400 between January and May — roughly double the number for the same period in 2018.

The Unintended Consequences Of Raising Minimum Wage To $15
My wife, the kids and I went shopping over the long Fourth of July weekend. We stopped into Target for a few items—and ended up with more than we came for—and sped through the self-checkout line. The next stop was Home Depot to get supplies for a project and, once again, we checked ourselves out without the assistance of a cashier. Then, we made a last stop at Whole Foods for our family barbecue and chose the self-checkout line.
A recent study by the Congressional Budget Office, entitled “The Effects on Employment and Family Income of Increasing the Federal Minimum Wage,” was conducted to determine how increasing the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10, $12 or $15 per hour by 2025 would affect employment and family income. The conclusion was that increasing the federal minimum wage would have two major impacts on low-wage workers: earnings would increase for many, which would lift some families out of poverty. However, other low-wage workers would become jobless, their family income would drop and it could place them below the poverty threshold. This issue is timely, important and deserves an open and honest conversation, as there will be an upcoming vote in the House of Representatives on a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024.
The idea of raising the minimum wage is noble and commendable, but many of the arguments rely upon raw emotion and neglect sound economic ramifications that will adversely impact the same people it's trying to help.
