President Trump began the holiday break by hosting an Amish delegation in the Oval Office, the first time members of the reclusive community have received that honor.
They might be an odd pairing — the brash and extravagant billionaire president and the famously humble Amish — but they enjoy a kinship in their Christian faith and work ethic, the Amish visitors told The Washington Times.
The Amish men described themselves as strong supporters of Mr. Trump and each denounced the House Democrats’ impeachment of the president as a waste of taxpayer money.
“He is a common man just like me and everybody else — very common, very friendly. He called us friends when we walked in there,” said Levi Miller, 56, an Amish farmer from Ohio. “It gets people excited that we have somebody in there who is not afraid to talk about Jesus Christ.”
“We read the newspaper and it is just impeachment this and impeachment that. It’s a lot of hogwash,” said Ben Hostetler, 51, a woodworker.
“What they are blaming Trump for is what they did themselves.”

Maybe he will listen to their advice about vaccines and get serious with the CDC for all of the lies they have told.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he will listen to their advice about morality, humility and ethics
ReplyDeleteMaybe he will talk to them about personal responsibility and helping within their communities to reduce gun violence in places like Baltimore and Chicago.
ReplyDelete1:02 you need to take advice about morality, humanity and ethics because you have to be a Democrat to say such a thing. Trump has met with everyone he meets and gives them an ear and his time, not like your Hillary, Pelosi, and Schumers of the world. This Amish man knows what you Dems are all about, everyone on the planet knows your agenda since the day Trump threw his hat in the ring, he has been despised just because he is Republican. If you Dems ever succeed in getting in the oval office again the Republicans will not forget the disgusting way you treated the President of our country and our Commander and Chief. There have been presidents from both sides I did not think should have gotten in office but respect is something I and others learned, and we kept quiet till their terms were over. The mentality shown by so many Dems makes one wonder what kind of parents you had, and what they would think of your vile mouths.
ReplyDelete10:52 The Amish vaccinate their children or the overwhelming majority do. There may be some in different sects like the Swartzentruber Amish who are pretty much a closed culture not even socializing with the other Old Order Amish sects but for the most part the Old Orders embrace all aspects of modern medicine. Except abortion of course.
ReplyDeleteAmish for TRUMP!!
ReplyDeleteSad to hear about the Amish and vaccines.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were a hold out against it and have read they have zero Autism in their communities.
