Governor Hogan Statement on Today’s Indictments of 25 Correctional Officers
ANNAPOLIS, MD–Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement after the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) announced the indictments of 25 correctional officers:
“From the first day of our administration, we have been working diligently to root out wrongdoing and corruption no matter where it is taking place, including in the state’s correctional system. Our administration funded more prosecutors for the state’s corruption unit and doubled the number of investigators for prison corruption. We strengthened the gang statutes that will be used to prosecute these horrendous crimes.
“Today’s announcement follows an extensive investigation initiated by our Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. With this latest round of indictments, our anti-corruption actions have led to the arrests and convictions of over 200 officers, inmates, and citizen accomplices.
“We are again making clear that we have absolutely no tolerance whatsoever for corruption of any kind in our state prison system or anywhere else in state government. Our correctional officers have one of the most difficult jobs in all of public safety, and we will not let the criminal behavior of the few tarnish the great work of the nearly 5,000 dedicated officers who serve with distinction every single day.”
NOTE: Under the Hogan administration, DPSCS doubled the number of IID detectives–essentially the internal police force within corrections and the other Public Safety agencies. The enhanced team of investigators is tasked with criminal investigation across the department.
A few? 25 got caught imagine how many didn't get caught. First everyone said oh thats just 1 bad apple out of the bunch. Now 25 equals a few. 10 more years youll realize 90% are just horrible people. Takes a certain kind of person to happily incarcerate a person dad son husband wife mom daughter for years in a box cause of ridiculous laws of the land.
ReplyDeleteIts ok leo lovers ill do it for you. We love you leo, all you deputized leo we love you, you can do no wrong. Thank you so much for your service we support you no matter what, our wonderful leo.
What ridiculous laws are you referring to 1037? Rape? Murder? Burglary? Robbery? Assault? There are crooked teachers, are all teachers bad? There are crooked business owners, are all business owners bad? I suspect you are just upset because you got held accountable for something you did. Get over it.
DeleteYea cause thats what are jails are full of idiot
DeleteActually, that's exactly what state prisons are filled with. Statistically, about 55% of those incarcerated in state prisons are there for violent crimes. Another 20% are there for property crimes (theft, burglary, fraud, etc). About 15% are for drugs (80% of those are distribution and manufacturing, not just simple possession). So again I ask, what ridiculous laws are you referring to? This time I would ask that you answer the question, rather than hurling insults.
DeleteUm....correctional officers are NOT law enforcement officers (LEO). Here’s your sign.
DeleteYAWN.

HEY HOGAN....TEAR DOWN MORE HISTORICAL STATUES TO MAKE INMATES FEEL BETTER
Fall guys to appease those who are really dishonest.
ReplyDeleteThey're paid aboutbthe same as a fast food worker. What do you expect?
ReplyDeleteWhile these depts may be corrupt, their crimes are petty compared to the crimes of the MGA. The MGA gang violate the Highest laws of the land, the Constitution of the US, unlawful laws being made and enforced every year that violate the Constitutional Rights of EVERY Citizen of MD. Even this gang leader larry hogan created the Red Flag law that calls for confiscation of property before being found guilty in a court of law. Lets not mention the abusive taxation schemes that are sealing from law abiding citizens every day of the year. Where are the investigations into the biggest most powerful gang in MD???
ReplyDeleteDitto 4;19
DeleteDitto 8:20
DeleteSo there are investigations of Md government employees whom are helping law breakers, harboring and protecting law breakers, criminals who broke laws when they entered this Country and State. THESE law breakers who protect law breakers also use tax payers money to do their dirty law breaking deeds. They are a powerful gang to even make and enforce unlawful and unjust laws to legitimize their crime....like sanctuary cities,,,,like violating federal laws to protect their ill-gotten schemes and goods. Investigations into criminal gangs you say?
ReplyDeleteDitto:4:51

ReplyDeleteOver 200 leo/correction officers have been indicted for crimes just in Maryland over the last 4 years.
DeleteNorthwest Woodsman: As a result of reading some of these articles concerning criminal activities related to Baltimore, I was led to Fox News, Baltimore and I can’t say I was shocked, but I found it amazing to look at photos of perpetrators of violent crimes and find that almost without exception, they are all of the same race, probably Scandinavias. I reside in a mostly crime free area where any violent crime is extremely rare. I assume that what I see of Baltimore and violent behavior primarily from one group, your citizens have become so desensitized and indoctrinated in the joys of diversity that they no longer consider living in a crime ridden area as the exception. Need I be more sensitive? If so, I’ll try again later.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess they're even more understaffed now. There'll be no one to find the inmates when they hang themselves or shiv somebody.
ReplyDeletePrisons are a Dirty & Corrupt Business
ReplyDeleteECI was called Hotel Hell & Everything is Corrupt inside
DOC was called the Division of Corruption
When you have Dirt at the top it rolls downhill !!
ReplyDeleteThe prison system should contracted out
ReplyDeleteNorthwest Woodsman : The only difference between inmates and corrections officers is that corrections officers go home after their shift. Solution: don’t allow them to go home after their shift. In the case of Baltimore, the inmates are probably friends/relatives/lovers anyway, sort out the non corrupt ones be seeing which ones wish to resign under those conditions!
