No Headlights In The Rain Today, Continued...
Today I made a trip to Fenwick and back. During our trip to and from we literally counted 132 vehicles with no headlights on in the rain. I was a passenger in the vehicle, so no, I didn't have anything better to do. Nevertheless, again, it amazes me that it is the law and so many refuse to turn their lights on and not one vehicle had been pulled over. I'll add, in some of the areas we were traveling in was a mandatory headlight use to boot. We saw plenty of Police along the way. Go figure.
No turn signals bug the crap out of me...
ReplyDeleteIt will be ok, the world won't stop turning because 132 people didn't turn on their headlights in the rain
ReplyDeleteUntil it is your friend, family member, or (God forbid) kid who is killed because someone was too lazy or ignorant to flip a switch and make their vehicle more visible. Then yes, your world WILL stop turning
DeleteThe headlight law is not a primary violation. A police officer cannot pull you over for it. They have to pull you over for some other moving or eqipment violation.contact your representatives if you want the law changed. Honestly, I don't think I'd get out in a pouring rain to enforce it if it was a primary stop law, but if you want to give the police one more reason to stop you, have at it.
ReplyDeleteEven WORSE >> NO LIGHTS at NIGHT is a bad habit &
ReplyDeletehas been for years now >> Take their damn License for
doing that one !!!!
Most are doing it ON PURPOSE too & have NO excuse !!!!
write tickets on that instead of just speeding !!!! Please
Snitches
ReplyDeleteThe police don't even turn their headlights on
ReplyDeleteOne of the most overused words in our everyday speech these days....”literally”.
ReplyDeleteI use "Rain-X" no wipers , no lights . Love it.
ReplyDeleteThey were called PSA and they used to be every where.
ReplyDeletedid you see any accidents with those 132 cars?
ReplyDeleteNOBODY wants to wear out their headlights prematurely. We need to save money where we can in order to pay for free illegal alien healthcare.
ReplyDeleteTotally racist and must be nice to be rich and have a driver and a beach house in fenwick
ReplyDeleteNeed to Enforce > No lights on at NIGHT Violations !!!
ReplyDeleteVery dangerous & I see it more All the time taking place !!!!
INEPT LEO. Just hotdogs looking for mustard. Just like they changed the DUI law. They refuse to enforce laws we already have. Only in Maryland.
ReplyDeletemany cars also dont bother to turn headlights on at dusk, too much effort i guess
ReplyDeleteanonymous 5 02 you are ridiculous

ReplyDeleteRead all the comments and came to the decision that people are just stupid. Turn the damn lights on people.

ReplyDeleteshould be charging those who don't have lights on !! Period
ReplyDeleteI forgot.
ReplyDeleteI also see a lot of drivers not turning lights on at night. What kind of game are they playing? Is this a gang thing or something? See it way too often.
ReplyDeleteA gang? Really? You have been watching too many urban legends. Its more like the driving schools dont tell you about this law amd kids arent taught it. Its not drilled in them kike seatbelts and 10 and 2, because it doesn't rain all the time to remind the instructor to mention it.
DeleteWhy was driver ed taken out of public schools? The one class that can enable youths when seeking employment, teach them safe driving techniques and the rules of the road.
Deletecry all you want, I'm not getting soaked to stop this nonsense violation. Oh and its not a primary offense, so cant stop people for it anyways.
ReplyDeleteTry using the rain x product , it works well . You do not need to use your wipers , so of course no need for lights during rain. Just try it , it works very well , then you can drive to the Alamo and get a burger
ReplyDeleteOnly need to apply it every 3 or 4 months , very cheap. LTMC on my burger.(C is for cheese)
surely can't be good for the climate and global warming. all that electricity being used to light them! not to mention the fact all those lights heat up the surrounding air! this won't end well! Armageddon?
ReplyDeleteJoe, the only thing that the majority of these replies proves:
ReplyDeleteYou can't fix stupid!
But, I guess we can ticket it, huh?
The state police are too busy enforcement Zzzzzzz at the Vienna scales.
ReplyDelete7:30
ReplyDeleteThe reason for having the lights on when the windshield wipers are on is NOT so that you can see. It's so others can see YOU.

Maybe, BUT, these kids HAD to have driven with an adult at some point before getting a license. No excuse for not knowing.
Who cares? Counting them all will change nothing.

People who have to drive on the same road as they, that's who cares. Voicing an opinion, getting others to talk about an issue can change things. But I understand some people's lackadaisical attitude about things, esp on the shore.
So you go ahead and pull out to pass someone and get a surprise when you finally see the car coming at you, head-on.
If visibility is that bad you shouldn't be passing anyone, I don't care how slow they're going
Delete8:49... trying to get 7:30am to use his brain is an act in futility. He thinks it's about NOT having to turn his lights on, like it's an act of lawlessness. He doesn't understand it's about safety. You'll never convince him to use is brain because it seems there's some disfunction between his ears.

ReplyDeleteI guess you are like all of the rest of the followers of our Pied Piper Maryland legislature.
Fact is - there shouldn't be a law that requires headlights while raining - in the first place. Our citizenry operated motor vehicles for well over a hundred years without having a draconian law that requires head lights during periods of rain - why now?
Just like the stupid residential sprinkler ordinance that requires fire home sprinklers to be installed in all new residential homes. Our Maryland legislature is the 'peoples enemy no.1'.
I'll just bet you that Maryland and California are probably the only two states that even have such law.
It’s headlight savings time
ReplyDeleteYou must have seen them so what's the problem
ReplyDeleteExactly
DeleteWith all the real problems in the world, who cares about headlights being turned on!

ReplyDeleteI don't think you know much about "facts." As a matter of fact, I know you don't.

ReplyDelete"People" You included. Or are you not a person?

ReplyDeleteHey dumb ass. The wiper law is for other cars to be able to see YOU, not not for you to see them. Your Rain X doesn't make YOUR car any more visible to anybody else. And you think you're so freaking smart.

First, there are a lot more vehicles on the road. Vehicles have advanced since 100 years ago also. (But not necessarily drivers skill has advanced), and over time safety experts, (not any of you) have learned how and why certain things happen and make rules to eliminate them.
Hope that helps.
