Jane Fonda Spends Night in Jail After Demonstration Arrest

The actress and political activist has said she plans to get arrested every Friday as she advocates for reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Actress and activist Jane Fonda spent a night in a local jail after her fourth arrest in as many weeks while participating in a climate change demonstration on Capitol Hill in Washington.

The 81-year-old Oscar winner was among more than 40 people arrested Friday while sitting in the atrium of the Hart Senate Office Building. A spokesman for Fire Drill Fridays, Ira Arlook, says Fonda was the only one who spent the night in jail, her first as part of the ongoing demonstration.

  1. Anything for attention.

This has nothing to do with 'climate change'... it's all about her.

  3. Too bad they don't lock up her then throw the key away. 81 years old and still acting like an idiot. She deserves prison forever.

  12. Hanoi Jane will be arrested everyday Friday. She actually got an apartment in DC to terrorize the ton. Maybe after the 20th arrest they’ll lock her up permanent. In a mental institution. DC Metro doesn’t take kindly to idiots regarding their ‘celeb’ status.

  13. Either keep her in jail as a repeat offender who professes they will continue to violate the law OR dont arrest her and deprive her of the publicity she aeeks.
