Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash – Seaford

Seaford, Delaware – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that was reported earlier today north of Seaford.
The incident was reported on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at approximately 7:49 a.m., that a 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck, operated by a 45-year-old male of Seaford was traveling northbound on Alternate 13, Bridgeville Highway passing Dolby Road and approaching a sharp curve to the right. For unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the southbound lanes and exited the roadway. The vehicle continued in a northerly direction where it entered a gravel road leading to a construction site. While traversing the gravel road, the right side of the vehicle struck and ramped a dirt pile overturning the vehicle an undetermined number of times. While overturning, the vehicle struck and came to rest on its roof on top of a stack of new, unused sewer piping.
The time of this collision is still being investigated. As of the time no witnesses have been located. This collision was called in after daylight and due to its location is believed to have occurred sometime early this morning or late last night.
The operator of the Dodge Ram Pickup Truck, who was properly restrained, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
Alternate 13 A Bridgeville Highway was closed between US 13 and Dolby Road for approximately three hours during the investigation.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Please call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at Troop 7, Lewes at 644-5020 for any information about this crash.
