Americans who want to stay in the U.S. when they retire have 50 states to choose from. That can be a tough decision, and it's not made any easier by studies offering different recommendations to pick this state or that one -- but never, ever that other one.
Who has time to sort through all of that? You're busy saving for retirement! Lucky for you, we're here to help.
We've taken three of the top studies of the best and worst states for retirement and have consolidated the rankings into one master list. We count down the 16 states on the bottom overall. You might think of them as the worst of the worst states for retirement.
OUR METHODOLOGY: We added each state's retirement ranking from Bankrate, WalletHub and Kiplinger to create scores out of a possible 150. The higher the score, the worse the state is for retirees.

YEP!!! Good ol' MD is the worst place in the Union to retire, I could have told you that.
ReplyDeleteI hear my active duty friends say how they'd never retire to Maryland or California.
ReplyDeleteOr Jersey.
DeleteThanks to the Democrats, Hogan, Miller and the Annapolis Politians. I say that because they all promote more taxes and more spending. They never abide by the balanced budget MD has. They just raise taxes and sell our private personal information to third party scammers.
ReplyDeleteI have a sister who moved to Delaware. I have another sister looking for a place in Delaware. It's not because Maryland isn't a beauty state. It's because of Maryland politics and the government.
ReplyDeleteHigh cost of living, high taxes, more Salvadorans than El Salvador...what's not to like?

ReplyDeleteAll together now, "Maryland, My Maryland"!
All together now:
ReplyDeleteLeaving Maryland, Leaving My Maryland!
It’s a little misleading. The DC corridor is horrendous. Traffic, crime, housing prices, etc. My kids live over that way and have come to realize they will NEVER be able to afford their own house. And, their commute is horrible, as is their car insurance costs.
ReplyDeleteThey are starting to consider moving back this way. While not perfect, the housing is more affordable, it’s less crowded, there aren’t hour delays on the roads, and we have a slower pace of life.
Also, while there is crime here, you can avoid it it by living in a nice neighborhood. Over in Anne Arundel or Montgomery County, who can even afford a nice neighborhood.
So, I don’t think the Eastern Shore is a great place to retire, but we don’t belong in the worst category - that is due to the influence of DC and Baltimore.
Maryland is a "BLACK PRIVILEGE" State.
ReplyDeleteIf your any other race?? They try to discourage and destroy you!!!
YUP! Thank You Traitor Hogan! He should be so proud.
ReplyDeleteThe republic of Maryland is also a terrible place to live much less retire!
