Ocean City Special Event Zone

Ocean City Special Event Zone

Wednesday, October 9 – Sunday, October 13

OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 7, 2019): With thousands of car enthusiasts expected in the resort community this week, Ocean City will be designated a Special Event Zone beginning Wednesday, October 9 through Sunday, October 13, during the Endless Summer Cruisin’ event. The Special Event Zone reduces established speed limits in the zone and increases fines for violations.

Along with reduced speed limits, citizens should expect to see a large police presence as officers from multiple allied agencies will be assisting the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD). Officers from the Ocean City Police Department, Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland Natural Resources Police will be strictly enforcing all traffic laws.

Spectators are urged to keep the sidewalks clear for pedestrian traffic and should not incite the spinning of wheels or “burn-outs” by motorist. Officers will enforce all laws for spectators who incite drivers, as well as cite drivers for these violations. Further, with high pedestrian traffic expected, pedestrians are urged to Walk Smart! and always use crosswalks when crossing roadways. Wait for the signal to change and be sure that drivers see you while crossing.

We have laws for that now too? A law for saying do a burn out. Lol

Just make everything illegal. That way when we get arrested we know we have definitely done something wrong since everthing is illegal.

    1. Wouldn’t need so many laws if losers knew how to conduct themselves

  4. I'm sick of this whole little car mess, and have a way to solve the problem.

Please understand that this is in no way legal , but fun none the less.

    1. Emergency powers enacted; guard troops deployed.
    2. Jack up fines to the point of absurdity; 1 year in jail and 25k in fines, court costs, etc.
    3. Several judges on scene throughout the town, with free live streaming set up
    4. Free attorney services for offenders

Once all set up, the little cars come to create mayhem. They are arrested by police and taken directly to 'video court' by the guard. Then, they get a choice: jail and fines, or 1 year in the service. If they choose jail, they get locked up. If they choose the service, they get indoctrinated, have their head shaved and bused out to basic, all on live stream......

....the look on all of the other little brats faces would be priceless....

  5. So sad to think our Law Enforcement are being
taken from regular duty to have to go to this,
which should not have been allowed in the first
place. Greed, Greed And more Greed to get the
last buck for Ocean City business!
A family place, IT Is a Laugh !

  6. Are they going to be incidentally catching us locals in this dragnet if we forget and drive the normal speed limit.
I caught myself the last time exceeding it until I saw the blinking sign.
Oh yeah, Town of OC, can you please put up more speed limit signs. It seems like there's a sign for everything else but try to find a speed limit sign...
