JUST IN: Shepard Smith out at Fox News

Shepard Smith is stepping down from Fox News, the network announced on Friday. Today's Friday afternoon showing of Shepard Smith Reporting was his last.

A native of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Smith, 55, joined Fox News at its inception in 1996 after beginning his television career a decade earlier at WJHG-TV in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of FOX News Media, said in a statement, “Shep is one of the premier newscasters of his generation and his extraordinary body of work is among the finest journalism in the industry."

  2. Not sorry to see Shep go. His ratings were in the tank and he allowed his personal animus against Trump leech into his commentary. Certainly not fair and balanced.

  3. 4:42 is right. He was probably sick and tired trying to play by the conservative rules at Fox. He's always leaned left and it was probably too much for him.

  11. Glad to see him go...now we have to deal with Napolitano, Bret Bair, Neil Cavuto, Juan Williams...Remember FOX is the ONLY Cable News Network Conservatives have; the Rest are Corrupt to the core.

  16. I used to like Shep even though he was a liberal. However lately he has become increasingly angry and out of control. I had to stop watching him. I think for him and Fox his leaving is a good thing. As for Juan Williams, I think he does a wonderful job on the Five. Although I don't agree with him most times, he is very good at giving a balanced opion and that is the purpose of the show. To be "fair and balanced" you have to have other points of view. I seldom agree with Chris Wallace but he makes me think and reinforces my beliefs. Unlike CNN and other news organizations Fox does give you two sides of a story and I think that is important. I just don't agree with becoming as angry as Shep has become.

  17. Good. He’s helped the ruin their brand and now FNC is just another Fake News Network like the rest of them. Sad. But FNC has lost a lot of viewers.

  20. Doesn’t change my opinion of Fox News. Stopped watching it when I got on a system that OANN and never looked back. Sick of the opinion dressed up as news. They’re just as fake as CNN and MSNBC.
