JACKSON, Mich. (NBC/WILX) —A Michigan third-grader was banned from class photos because of her hair.
Marian Scott, 8, said she cried and felt singled out after school officials prohibited her from taking school photos because of the red extensions in her hair.
The school said the hair style is a violation of its dress code because it's not her natural color.

Wonder how many of the teachers at the school are coming in without their natural gray?
ReplyDeleteSad for the little girl. The blame is on the parents, ignorance of the rules is not a valid excuse. Wake up parents - it is your responsibility to know the school's rules. Plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong w/ that hair style at all. Smh. It s done, presentable and safe. Petty picking at its best.
ReplyDeleteIf she only knew how stupid this looks sitting on top of her head like an octopus.
ReplyDelete6:47 very true. They focus on what doesn't matter and ignore the things that do matter. Ignore bullying and violent tendencies but do things like this. Who cares what color your hair is?
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously an example of the radical ideology of the parent(s) in this case. I am sure this is open defiance because of ethnicity as I am also sure the word racist will rear its ugly head.
ReplyDeleteI had to zoom up on the picture and look at it for a couple seconds till I realized what I was looking for/at...
ReplyDeleteLawsuit.
ReplyDelete5:02. The teachers and staff are not and should not be subjected to the students' rules. What a stupid comment.

ReplyDeleteWhat about yarn extensions and other types of weaves? Many of those do not resemble natural hair either.
ReplyDeleteRules are rules. They are in schools, in your workplace, etc. By allowing your children to not follow them, you're just turning them into another generation that thinks they can do anything and that rules, and laws don't apply to them. Which means they'll live in a basement well into their 30's and beyond, vote Dem, and bitch about life not being fair. Sorry little girl but your parents aren't doing you any favors with that crap in your hair.
