Bay Bridge to begin cashless tolling on Thursdays, Fridays to reduce traffic during construction

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A nearly year long project to replace the deck surface of the Bay Bridge's right lane of the westbound span kicked off last week, resulting in brutal traffic and endless complaints.

Now the Maryland Transportation Authority says they're taking steps to relieve at least some of the congestion.

On Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 10 p.m., the Bay Bridge will go to a cashless toll system for the remainder of the project.

This means drivers without an E-Zpass will be allowed to go through the toll plaza without stopping, and instead be mailed a $4.00 bill.

  5. Hey MDTA a heads up its still not going to help at all
It just still piles up all traffic after the toll booths
12 lanes trying to get into 2 lanes
Just remove all the toll booths and only have two lanes open because there are only two lanes from there on
Oh sorry that's right I forgot about Md it's really all about the $$$$
    Who hires these idiots anyway

  6. The toll is on the eastbound span and one lane of the westbound span is closed most of the time to get the money to the beach, so what's the problem?
The congestion is past the toll booths anyway duh!
