I'll release balloons if I want, thinking about going to a store and buy a bag right now. When I get home, I'll fill them all with helium and quickly release them. Such a stupid law to try to pass, just like the straw law. Only sheeple would obey such a law.
Notice, like ALL the laws they pass, they have EXEMPTED THEMSELVES from being punished. THIS is the kind of stuff they think "we, the people" pay them to do???
I'm glad (Article III - Balloons Section 174-14, Paragraph 1) that they defined balloons. I had no idea what they were until now. That clears things up. Thanks.
Good. Your loved one does not need to be memorialized by contributing to the death of a living being or this planet. Get butterflies, plant a tree, light a candle, plant flowers. No, not a liberal, but respectful of the planet who is our home.
Lol really believe the police will track down the person who releases a few balloons at a kids party or wedding and write a $250 ticket? Agree with it in theory however there will never be a ticket written
10:26am - they didn't exempt themselves. They exempted weather ballons.
12:55pm - they would should those balloons get stuck in power lines and cause an outage i'm sure. This seems to just make making a law in case there is a blatant disregard for safety or the environment.
to be honest banning plastic bags and or plastic water bottles would do a hell of a lot more for the environment then this woke spectacle! wtf are you thinking bob?

Those little balloons have never caused a power outage in Wicomico County, Snowflake. Good try though.

I agree. This is also a waste of time. One can only imagine what this feel-good legislation is for?
The last time I checked the County Executive was the executive branch and the County Council was the legislative branch. Leave the legislating to the County Council and stick to running the county.
Isn't that something the council should do? I'm not a fan of Bob's but I think Cannon maybe should have initiated that. I think it's time for John Cannon to step down and council president. I don't think he is doing his job.

I know right. So since this is a law that can't and won't be enforced then why waste your time with this feel good legislation?
Ok, where is the rest of it? How is it going to be enforced? Who is going to enforce it? What are the penalties if there is a violation? This is the most half-a$$ed legislation I have ever seen written.
Anonymous said... Sorry, but that is just stupid, feel good legislation. What a crock. Does he really think he's saving the world with crap legislation like this?

Agreed! This is definitely a waste of time, money and valuable resources.

define large numbers? Not to many people around here release balloons because we all know the impact of the environment.
