2 suspects get 30 years in jail in murder of Baltimore County Officer Amy Caprio

TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) -- An emotional day for the family of Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio.

Two of the four teens charged with the officer’s murder were sentenced in Circuit Court. Derrick Matthews and Eugene Genius received 30 year sentences for their role in Officer Caprio’s death. As both teens apologized to Caprio’s parents, one began to cry while the other asked for forgiveness.

Under Maryland law, even though Matthews and Genius were not in the car when getaway driver Dawnta Harris fatally struck Caprio, the teens can still be charged with felony murder. Darrell Ward is scheduled to be sentenced in late September. Ward will be the last defendant to be learn his fate. Harris received a sentence of life.

  2. Life sentence--the thug is eligible for parole after only 15 years. Life without parole would keep him where he belongs.
