Pay up or hit the road, Md. transit officials tell West Virginia

For many years, the state of West Virginia paid nothing for the MARC commuter rail service that carries hundreds of residents to jobs in Maryland and Washington, D.C., every day.

For the last two years, officials in the Mountaineer State have been warned that the gravy train would soon end, and that they had better compensate Maryland more fully for the six trains — three eastbound and three westbound — that MARC runs to and from the eastern panhandle cities of Harpers Ferry, Duffields and Martinsburg.

Despite the warnings, the West Virginia legislature has been unwilling to come up with the $3.4 million that Maryland is seeking to maintain the current schedule.

Maryland’s response: a steep reduction in service.

  4. Hogan why are you still doing business as a Democrat? This should have been done the first year you were in office. You are screwing Maryland citizens at every turn. It is bad enough we have to support these illegals by being a sanctuary State but now we find out that Maryland taxpayers are providing free transportation for other States citizens to come into Maryland. What a joke you have turned out to be. Typical Democrat Politian.

  5. The State of Maryland has a propensity to try and screw anyone, anyway they can to fill their coffers.

I moved out of Maryland 15 years ago (Thank God) but didn't turn in my motorcycle license plate since it only had a month before it expired. Maryland told me I owe them $10,000 in fines.
I never paid, I won't pay, and they can KMA!!!!
I will NEVER set foot in the state of Maryland again with the thug commies running it.
