ICYMI: Ocasio-Cortez Tried To Lecture Us On The Electoral College Again…It Was A Total Disaster

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has found a new enemy: The Electoral College. The freshman Democrat appears to be taking a break from defending her anti-Semitic colleagues, pushing the Green New Scam, and other socialist policies to bash an institution that’s become the latest subject of rage for Democrats who simply cannot let the 2016 election go. In our history, there have only been five times where the winner has won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. And yet, we’re still here. And let’s use the word “lost” loosely for 2016; Clinton didn’t break 50 percent in that category either. Well, let’s to the reasons why AOC hates this institution (via The Hill):
Ocasio-Cortez made her argument on … an Instagram story that includes her driving along a deserted highway and quipping, "many votes here, as you can see."

Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean I can’t think of any other way, can you?" Ocasio-Cortez says, before going on to cite a report from New York Magazine that argues the defenses of the system that determines the winner of presidential elections are flawed.

  2. Dear Readers,

She is dangerous in that many young people see her as representative of their generation. She also made comment the other day that America is a Democracy, which is also incorrect. We are a Democratic Republic, which means many local decisions are decided by popular vote, but the institution of the republic has placed the Electoral College as a safeguard against the coasts controlling Presidential elections. The idea was to give equal voice to all. Further, John Adams said that (essentially) every democracy has committed suicide at some point - he was referring to mob rule and not allowing it to happen on the national stage. What makes AOC, and the Democratic Socialists so dangerous is the fact that they either are not well versed, or choose to manipulate facts to influence the younger generation. This is exactly the reason those with understanding must correct and redirect them.

    1. Adams referred to “direct democracy” i.e. Athens, where all voters made every decision together. Nothing like what we have. A republic merely means you democratically elect representatives, not that the minority is advantaged at everyone else’s expense. Your faux intellectualism is shameful and weak.

  3. Incorrect 10:13 - The entire premise of a Republic is to make sure 51% doesn't take away the rights and viewpoints of the 49% - as for the snide comment, I think you can be more mature than that.
